Abstract
Description
The invention relates to metallurgy, in particular, to the development of a method for producing half cast irons with an austenitic-bainitic structure, which can be used for the manufacture of parts that are subject to wear at high loads.
The known method [1, p.439-442] for producing half cast iron alloyed with vanadium, chromium or manganese without additional heat treatment or with subsequent hardening from 980-1020 ° C and tempering at 400 ° C. The disadvantage of this method is the use of an increased amount of expensive and scarce vanadium, chromium, copper and manganese as alloying elements, which significantly increases the cost of castings. In addition, for cast irons containing less than 3% Si, castings with a diameter of ledeburite bleached may appear in castings with a diameter of 12-60 mm, which reduces the stability of their properties in the cast state. In order to eliminate this drawback in castings (with a diameter of less than 12 mm), it is recommended to conduct prolonged graphitizing annealing at a temperature of 900-950 ° C, which complicates the process and increases their cost.
Чугун содержит (в мас.%):A known method [2] for producing ductile iron with austenitic-bainitic structure and spherical graphite. Cast iron contains (in wt.%):
Cast iron is subjected to additional heat treatment according to the regime: austenization of 860–930 ° C, holding for 0.5–1 h, isothermal holding at 370–430 ° C for 1–4 h. After heat treatment, cast iron should have ≤70% residual austenite in the structure , 3% structurally-free cementite, the rest is bainite. The disadvantages of the method are: the use of heat treatment increases the cost and does not provide stable production of a given structure; the process is lengthening; An insignificant amount of carbides in the structure limits the use of these cast irons as a material for wear-resistant parts.
Высокопрочный чугун содержит (в мас.%):The closest adopted as a prototype is high-strength bainitic cast iron [3]. Ductile iron contains (in wt.%):
To ensure a bainitic structure, high-strength cast iron in the range of 700-200 ° C is cooled at a speed of 0.1-10 ° C / min, the grain size of the resulting structure is ≤100 μm.
However, this method has the following disadvantages. The use of high nickel and copper in the composition of cast iron not only leads to an increase in the cost of the product, but also does not guarantee the stable production of a bainitic structure. When the content in high-strength cast iron exceeds 3% nickel, the stability of austenite in the region of bainitic transformation sharply increases, which, combined with continuous cooling, leads to the formation of martensite in the structure of cast iron, which increases the brittleness of castings. The hardness of ductile iron with spherical graphite, provided only by obtaining bainitic-austenitic matrix, is negligible
Основным недостатком является отсутствие простых технологических приемов, позволяющих поддерживать постоянной скорость охлаждения в указанных интервалах для отливок сложной конфигурации, что также не гарантирует получения по сечению однородной бейнитной структуры.in comparison with half cast irons, where its additional increase is provided by carbides. The main disadvantage is the lack of simple technological methods that allow maintaining a constant cooling rate in the indicated intervals for castings of complex configuration, which also does not guarantee a uniform bainitic structure over the cross section.
The aim of the invention is to develop a method for the stable production of castings from half cast iron and an austenitic-bainitic matrix with high impact strength, strength, hardness, wear resistance and quasi-isotropy.
Для достижения указанной цели, чугун выплавляют в индукционной электропечи, расплав при сливе в ковш модифицируют магнийсодержащими лигатурами для получения в отливках графитных включений шаровидной формы, при заливке в песчано-глинистую форму дополнительно подвергают инокулирующему модифицированию, отливки после кристаллизации выбиваются из формы при температуре 900-1000°С; перемещают в печь с температурой 950-1000°С и выдерживают в течение 10-30 мин, затем закаливают в изотермической ванне при температуре 300-320°С в течение 1-1,5 час, при этом используют чугун следующего химического состава, (в мас.%):To achieve this goal, cast iron is smelted in an induction furnace, the melt is modified with magnesium alloys during pouring into a ladle to obtain spherical graphite inclusions in castings, when casting into a sand-clay mold, it is further subjected to inoculant modification, castings are knocked out of the mold at a temperature of 900- 1000 ° C; transferred to a furnace with a temperature of 950-1000 ° C and held for 10-30 minutes, then quenched in an isothermal bath at a temperature of 300-320 ° C for 1-1.5 hours, using cast iron of the following chemical composition, ( wt.%):

This ensures the stable production of half cast iron with spherical graphite, dispersed carbides and an austenitic-bainitic matrix. Such a composite microstructure is characterized by high hardness, wear resistance, strength and increased viscosity of cast iron, as a result of casting from it they have high operational stability.
The content of carbon in half cast iron 3.2-3.4% provides carbide and graphite inclusions, which increases its strength and hardness. In addition, carbon increases the stability of austenite, at a high austenitization temperature after knocking out the castings from the mold and their subsequent transfer to the furnace. The stability of austenite, which it acquires as a result of austenization, is maintained up to room temperature.
The elements that ensure the graphitization process in cast iron are carbon, silicon and nickel. The main role in this process is given to silicon, which is introduced into the melt in several stages. First, the bulk of the silicon is introduced into the melt with the charge. Secondly, with spheroidizing treatment as part of a magnesium-containing ligature. Thirdly, with inoculant modification.
A decrease in the silicon content of less than 3.0% leads to an increase in the probability of producing white cast irons, and with an increase in its content above the specified limit, silicocarbides are formed, which sharply increase brittleness and lower the viscosity of cast iron.
The total content of carbon and silicon within the specified limits provides eutectic crystallization of cast iron, which facilitates the process of the joint occurrence of carbides and graphite.
The main carbide forming element is molybdenum. The content of molybdenum in the cast iron in the indicated interval leads to the appearance of carbides of Mo 2 C in the cast iron, reinforcing the metal matrix. The presence in the structure of cast iron in addition to carbides, spherical graphite, helps to reduce the density of the material and increase wear resistance. It is known that graphite in cast irons used for parts subject to wear under increased loads plays the role of solid lubricant.
Complex alloying of Ni and Mo increases the stability of austenite in the upper temperature range of its transformation, which avoids the appearance of pearlite transformation products in the final structure. Doping with these elements in the indicated intervals significantly increases the hardenability of cast iron and contributes to its quasi-isotropy.
A nickel content of more than 2.6% causes a decrease in hardness and a decrease in the tendency to hardening of residual austenite.
It is most expedient to alloy cast iron in an electric furnace during its smelting, since this ensures the best assimilation of alloying elements from the introduced alloying additives and the exact production of a given chemical composition.
The content of sulfur and phosphorus is taken at the level of impurities, the amount of which in cast iron is provided by the initial charge materials.
The manganese content is maintained at the lower stage, which is due to the impurity component of this element in the initial charge materials. An increase in the content of manganese leads to a decrease in strength properties. This is due to the fact that this element, liquating along the boundaries of the eutectic grains, suppresses the bainitic transformation, while forming carbides, which reduce the viscosity and strength of cast iron.
Magnesium is introduced into cast iron during spheroidizing modification, as a constituent element of magnesium-containing ligatures. Its residual content in the range of 0.04-0.07 provides for obtaining spherical graphite.
Additional inoculant modification with ferrosilicon after spheroidizing treatment with magnesium-containing alloys, while pouring the melt into the mold, contributes to the graphitization process, obtaining a more correct spherical shape of graphite inclusions, grinding of austenite grains and quasi-isotropy.
Preliminary knocking out of the castings from the mold at temperatures of 900-1000 ° C ensures the obtaining of an austenitic structure in them. This shortens the process and does not require re-heating for austenization. In this case, graphite and carbide were formed in the castings during crystallization. Therefore, the casting at the temperature of extraction from the mold has an austenitic structure of a metal matrix with inclusions of spherical graphite and dispersed molybdenum carbides. For castings with a complex configuration, the time to extract them from the mold must be determined from the calculation of the temperature of the smallest section.
The movement of hot castings into a furnace with a temperature of 950-1000 ° C helps to equalize the temperature gradient over the cross section, which is especially important for parts having a complex configuration. In addition, as a result of exposure at austenitizing temperature, diffusion processes occur that contribute to a more uniform chemical composition within the eutectic grain.
Lowering the temperature below the specified limit can lead to the occurrence of eutectoid transformation and the appearance of perlite in the structure, which reduces the operational properties of cast iron.
Subsequent quenching and isothermal exposure at a temperature of 300-320 ° C for 1-1.5 hours leads to a partial transformation of austenite into lower bainite. An increase or decrease in the temperature of the isothermal bath leads to the appearance of upper bainite or martensite, respectively, and therefore a decrease in the properties of cast iron. As a quenching medium, liquid salt and low-melting metal alloys are used. After the necessary exposure, the castings are removed from the furnace and cooled in air to room temperature. Not transformed, residual austenite is in a metastable state.
The preservation of residual austenite to room temperature is promoted by the high temperature of aging of cast iron during austenization and the increased content of nickel, silicon and carbon in austenite. Under external influence (operational loads), metastable austenite is transformed into martensite, which increases its hardness and wear resistance of the surface, regardless of the degree of wear of the part. Thus, the resulting structure is self-reinforcing.
The technical result realized during the implementation of the invention is to obtain billets with a cast iron structure consisting of carbide and graphite inclusions and a bainitic-austenitic matrix, which, with the optimal combination provided by the above technological methods and cast iron composition, can increase the wear resistance level of cast iron. Castings obtained by this method are distinguished by the stability of properties over the cross section of the casting and can be widely used in various branches of engineering.
The method can be carried out using the following technological methods and means.
Cast iron is melted in electric melting furnaces, and its modification is carried out with magnesium-containing alloys when the melt is drained into a ladle. An additional inoculant modification to the melt stream is carried out when pouring into the mold. Castings are obtained by pouring molten iron into sand forms. Castings are removed from the molds at high temperatures and transferred to the furnace, where they are kept and then subjected to isothermal hardening in a quenching bath. After holding the castings in the bath for a predetermined time, they are removed from it, and their subsequent cooling is carried out in air.

In an induction electric furnace, charge materials were melted and alloyed cast iron was obtained. At a melt temperature of 1400 ° C, it was poured into a ladle, into which FSMg-6 crushed magnesium-containing ligature (TU 14-5-134-86) was previously filled up with 2% of the melt mass.
После модифицирования чугун имел следующее содержание компонентов, мас.%:Inoculant modification was carried out by introducing 0.5% FS75 (fraction 0.6-2 mm) into the molten iron stream during casting. After modification, cast iron had the following content of components, wt.%:

Modified cast iron was used to produce castings with various wall thicknesses in cross section from 10 to 45 mm by pouring it into sand-clay forms. Castings were removed from the molds at a temperature of 960–980 ° С and quickly moved to a thermal furnace with a temperature of 980 ° С and kept for 25–30 min. After this, the castings were transferred to an isothermal bath with a temperature of 310 ° C and kept in it for 1 hour, their subsequent cooling was carried out in air.
Sections were made from various parts of the casting, according to which the microstructure was studied. The study showed that in all the polished sections studied, the structure was half cast iron with uniformly distributed carbides and graphite inclusions of spherical shape. The metal matrix consisted of 35-55% austenite and 45-65% lower bainite. Thus, the structure of the castings differs from the prototype by the quasi-isotropy of the structure and properties.
The cost of the obtained castings is 15% lower than the cost of castings of the prototype.
Studies on wear were carried out on a friction machine SMC - 2 under conditions: specific pressure - 8 kg / cm 2 ; counterbody hardness - 65 HRC; counterbody material Steel 45; cooling and lubricating medium in order to prevent setting - water.
The study of the wear process showed that the wear resistance of the obtained cast iron is 2-3 times higher than the wear resistance of the prototype.
5639-82.In addition, the claimed method, in contrast to the prototype, allows to obtain a finer-grained microstructure, which positively affects the operational properties of cast iron. The grain size was determined by metallographic methods in accordance with GOST 5639-82.
