The invention relates to fiber optic oscillator systems based on fiber lasers with microresonator mirrors and can be used in systems for measuring various physical quantities, for example, gas concentration, temperature, pressure, etc.
Currently, much attention is paid to the development of multiplex measuring systems based on microresonator fiber-optic sensors with frequency coding of the signal, the principle of which is based on the dependence of the self-oscillation frequency on the magnitude of various external influences.
G 01 H 9/00, 1998 г.Closest to the proposed technical solution in terms of technical nature and the achieved results is a multiplex system of self-generating microresonator fiber-optic sensors of physical quantities, see RF patent No. 2142615, cl. G 01 H 9/00, 1998
The system is used to measure various physical quantities, such as temperature, pressure, gas concentration, etc. In a self-generating multiplex system containing two measuring channels, the resonant interaction of a fiber laser (VL) with a microresonator structure is carried out on the basis of Q-switching of a two-mirror optical resonator due to photoinduced angular deviations one of the mirrors, which is a microresonator (MR). In this case, one end of the single-mode fiber is coupled to an autocollimator (A), which forms a parallel beam of light on the reflective surface of the MR, oriented at a given angle θ to the optical axis A, and the second is the output. A frequency meter is used as a signal processing unit.
The disadvantages of this multiplex system (MS) include the following.
The VL optical resonator in the analogue is the entire fiber-optic path (from mirror M to the reflective surface of the microresonator structure 6), which includes both active and passive segments of optical fibers. A significant length of the fiber path, amounting to 10 ÷ 100 m, leads to a strong sensitivity of the MS to destabilizing factors affecting the entire path. Essentially, the entire fiber-optic path is an antenna that receives various effects on it, for example, bends of optical fibers, changes in ambient temperature, pressure, etc., which leads to instability of the characteristics of the VL optical cavity and reduces the accuracy of MS measurements.
In addition, due to the resonant nature of self-oscillation excitation, in which the frequency of OHL relaxation oscillations f rel coincides with the eigenfrequency MP f (f rel ≈ f), the self-oscillation excitation zones in the space of MS parameters are discrete regions. In this case, the interrogation of the excitation zone of different microresonator structures is carried out by scanning the power supply current of the overhead line. This means that with this method of multiplexing microresonator fiber-optic sensors of physical quantities, including gas concentration sensors, self-oscillations are sequentially excited in each of the channels with resonant frequencies corresponding to this MR, therefore, information on the value of the measured parameter in this MS is not continuous, but discrete.
The problem solved by this invention is to develop a multi-channel fiber-optic measuring system for gas concentration, which differs from its analogue in the following advantages:
- увеличена точность измерений;- increased measurement accuracy;
- сняты ограничения на удаленность чувствительного элемента, реагирующего на изменение концентрации газов, от места размещения регистрирующей электронной аппаратуры;- removed restrictions on the remoteness of the sensitive element that responds to changes in gas concentrations from the location of the recording electronic equipment;
- расширены функциональные возможности системы.- expanded functionality of the system.
The solution to this problem is provided by the fact that in a multichannel fiber-optic measuring system, the concentration of various gases contains a radiation source, a splitter that separates the light flux from the radiation source and directs it to N measuring channels, each of which contains a microcavity, as well as a photodetector and processing unit signal, while the radiation source is a semiconductor pump laser, a multimode fiber splitter is used as a splitter, the input The edge of which is optically coupled to a semiconductor pump laser, and N free ends are coupled to N measuring channels, each of which additionally contains a segment of an active single-mode fiber with a mirror based on the Bragg grating and is a fiber laser, the lengths of the optical fiber segments and the radiation intensities of fiber lasers are specified in in accordance with the conditions for the excitation of self-oscillations of microresonators in individual channels, while the microresonator in each channel is made in the form of a planar microcuts Nathorn structure to obtain the reference and signal channels, the signaling channel comprises a film-sorbent, and each optical fiber laser is configured to excitation of harmonic oscillations on the difference frequencies corresponding to oscillate simultaneously excited in the reference and signal channels.
A manifestation of resonant self -duction in two simultaneously excited microcavities of a planar structure is the appearance of difference frequencies Δ F k = f k1 -f k2 (f k <f k2 ) in the self-modulation spectrum of the laser intensity, which allows you to organize a measuring channel using a differential measurement scheme. In this case, the measurement process in each channel is constructed in such a way that in the simultaneously excited MR pair, one MR is a reference one and the other is a measuring one, equipped with a sorbent film that is sensitive to the measured gas concentration.
The use of such microstructures is advisable, for example, in the development of fiber-optic sensors for the concentration of various gases. Due to the relatively short length of the fiber laser, the influence of destabilizing factors is significantly attenuated and, therefore, accuracy is improved.
The use of fiber lasers with short resonators can also significantly expand the range of natural frequencies of the used microresonators. In addition, due to the fact that the fiber-optic circuit of the measurement system under consideration is invariant to the type of fiber lasers used, characterized by a short lifetime of the metastable level, of the order of 0.1 ms, and, therefore, high frequencies of relaxation oscillations in the measuring channel, it is possible to use microresonators with natural frequencies up to 10 MHz, which can significantly increase the speed and dynamic range of the measuring system of gas concentration.
(Pk1k)·fk.Modern micromechanics technology allows the creation of silicon microresonators with natural frequencies of the main vibration mode above 100 MHz, having an acoustic Q factor of more than 10 3 and having a high efficiency of vibration excitation. The problem of developing selective analyzers of the composition of gas mixtures in aggressive environments stimulates the search for ways to build a multiplex self-generating fiber-optic measuring system for the concentration of gases of various designs. In this regard, the possibility of building a multi-channel measuring system for the concentration of various gases based on the use of a multimode fiber splitter and a set of N independent erbium fiber lasers and N pairs of microresonator mirrors opens up a special prospect. Optical pumping of active fibers is carried out by radiation from a single semiconductor laser pumped by a submarine using a 2 × N multimode fiber coupler. In this case, the measuring channels differ from each other by the length of the active fiber segment l k and the radiation intensity of fiber optic lasers P k . Moreover, one should consider the fact that in each measuring channel lengths of individual optical waveguides l k, and the intensity P k of VL are set in accordance with the excitation of oscillations in terms of individual channels is -MR k k: f pel (P k 1 k) F k .
Therefore, under conditions of continuous pumping, multichannel sensors simultaneously generate stable self-oscillations of many microresonators, while the output signal of the photodetector contains harmonic components with difference resonant frequencies of the microresonators under consideration. In the proposed technical solution, the microresonator structure is selected in the form of microconsoles made of silicon and piezoelectric quartz, while one of them (in the measuring channel) is equipped with a sorbent film.
The drawing shows a typical diagram of a multi-channel fiber optic concentration sensor of various concentrations of gases of a differential type. Here 1 is an erbium fiber laser, 2 is a semiconductor pump laser, 3 is a multimode splitter, the input end of which is connected to a semiconductor laser 2, and the other ends are coupled to the corresponding fiber laser resonators 1, 4 dichroic mirrors reflecting radiation on the λ laser generation line and transmitting at a wavelength of a semiconductor laser pump λ H = 0.98 μm, while dichroic mirrors are made on the basis of Bragg reflectors formed directly in the optical fibers, 5 - microresonator mirrors, 6 - photodetector, 7 - signal processing unit.
The device operates as follows.
The fiber lasers 1 are pumped by a semiconductor laser 2, the radiation of which is sent through the fiber splitter 3 to the corresponding segments of the active fibers 8. Under continuous pumping conditions, self-oscillations of various pairs of microcavities can be excited simultaneously in this device. In this case, the output signal of the photodetector 6 contains harmonic components at the difference frequencies corresponding to the vibrations of N pairs of micro-resonators, thereby frequency multiplexing the differential microresonator VOD of the gas concentration having high sensitivity and accuracy. The determination of gas concentration is carried out by the signal processing unit 7 according to a specific algorithm taking into account the area of the sorbent, the diffusion coefficient of the gas and the gas mass m g absorbed by the film with the sorbent and determined by the formula: Δ F k = f k1 -f k2 (f k <f k2 ), where f is the natural frequency of the microresonator.
It is important to note that the proposed multichannel fiber-optic measuring system for gas concentration allows further development in the directions of increasing the number of measuring channels and improving the measurement accuracy due to additional spectral or polarization separation of channels and the use of single-mode (single-frequency) fiber lasers with an active medium based on polarizing optical fibers.
