Abstract
Description
The invention relates to methods for cleaning surfaces from radioactive contaminants, namely, to decontamination of internal closed surfaces of technological equipment at nuclear facilities.
Currently, a significant part of the heat exchange and technological equipment used at nuclear facilities is the closed surfaces of heat exchangers, process pipelines, tanks, etc. During operation, combined deposits appear on the internal surfaces of this equipment, which consist of salt deposits of circulating solutions that simultaneously contain radioactive contaminants. When repairing, servicing or replacing the specified equipment, it is necessary to clean the internal surfaces of such equipment from both radioactive contamination — decontamination, and other contaminating deposits.
Existing methods of decontamination by their mechanism of action can be divided into three groups:
- основанные на механическом удалении загрязнений;- based on the mechanical removal of contaminants;
- основанные на частичном растворении радиоактивных веществ при обработке поверхности водой или органическими растворителями;- based on the partial dissolution of radioactive substances during surface treatment with water or organic solvents;
- основанные на физико-химических процессах.- based on physical and chemical processes.
Physico-chemical methods of decontamination include surface treatment with complex decontamination solutions.
The well-known "Method for the decontamination of metal surfaces of nuclear power reactors" (MKI G 21 F 9/00, application EPO No. 0138289, publ. 1985). The method is carried out by treating a contaminated surface with a decontamination solution with a pH of 1.5-4 at a temperature of 70-200 ° C, then the surface is washed with water, and then treated with an aqueous alkaline solution at a temperature of 70-200 ° C.
Also known "Method for the decontamination of metal surfaces" (MKI G 21 F 9/30, US Pat. France No. 2644618, publ. 1990). The method consists of alternately performed operations lasting two hours each and involves surface treatment first with an oxidizing aqueous solution, and then with a reducing one. The process is carried out at a temperature of 70-95 ° C.
The well-known "Method of equipment decontamination" (MKI G 21 F 9/30, Japanese application No. 60-50320, publ. 1985). The cleaning of contaminated surfaces is carried out by a chemical or mechanical method using water under pressure and the subsequent formation of an oxide film on the cleaned surface.
The disadvantages of these methods of decontamination include:
- длительность процесса дезактивации;- the duration of the decontamination process;
- необходимость нагревания дезактивирующей композиции и поддерживание температуры процесса как минимум в 70°С.- the need to heat the deactivating composition and maintaining the process temperature at least 70 ° C.
- сложность переработки образующихся жидких радиоактивных отходов (ЖРО) и твердых радиоактивных отходов (ТРО).- the complexity of processing the resulting liquid radioactive waste (LRW) and solid radioactive waste (SRW).
The known process of surface decontamination using aqueous decontamination solutions (S. M. Gorodinsky, D. S. Goldstein. Decontamination of polymeric materials. M: Atomizdat, 1975, p. 30). A method is described for cleaning surfaces from radioactive contamination by treating a contaminated surface with an aqueous decontamination solution and then removing the spent decontamination solution including radioactive contamination.
The disadvantages of this technology include the fact that when washing a contaminated surface, the transition of the radioactive component into the decontamination solution occurs only from a very thin outer layer in contact with the decontamination solution. The decontamination process under such conditions occurs very slowly only due to a chemical reaction and the subsequent removal of reaction products with the spent decontamination solution.
Cleaning surfaces from other contaminants that do not have a radioactive component is carried out in other ways.
24.01.94).The well-known "Method of cleaning the holes of printed circuit boards" from microinclusions due to exposure to the contaminated surface of the jet stream of cavitating liquid at a certain pressure drop (RF patent No. 2074537, IPC N 05
The reasons that impede the use of this method are:
- возможность вторичного радиоактивного загрязнения поверхностей из-за низкой способности связывания радионуклидов в очищающей жидкости;- the possibility of secondary radioactive contamination of surfaces due to the low ability to bind radionuclides in the cleaning fluid;
- невозможность очищать поверхности с большим слоем отложений, так как указанный способ рекомендуется для очистки только микровключений на поверхности.- the inability to clean surfaces with a large layer of deposits, since this method is recommended for cleaning only microinclusions on the surface.
Also known is the "Method of cleaning the inner surface of pipelines from pollution" (RF application No. 99110613, IPC B 08 V 9/04, publ. 13.05.99). The method consists in generating shock waves at the entrance to the pipeline, abruptly supplying pulses of compressed air under high pressure and discharging contaminated liquid, moreover, filling and discharging is carried out through the hydraulic unit in one closed cycle.
The disadvantages that impede the use of this invention include the possibility of secondary radioactive contamination of the surfaces of pipelines.
The closest way to clean surfaces from radioactive contamination to the claimed combination of essential features is the surface cleaning method described in the source of information "Decontamination of polymeric materials" by S. M. Gorodinsky, D.S. Goldstein, which is selected as a prototype.
Thus, the problem to which the present invention is directed is formulated as follows: cleaning a closed surface from radioactive contamination and at the same time from other deposits of a non-radioactive nature with
- сокращением времени проведения процесса;- reducing the time of the process;
- проведением процесса при комнатной температуре (18-22°С);- carrying out the process at room temperature (18-22 ° C);
- отсутствием вторичного радиоактивного загрязнения очищаемой поверхности;- lack of secondary radioactive contamination of the surface being cleaned;
- возможностью многократного использования очищающего раствора;- the possibility of reuse of the cleaning solution;
- возможностью удаления достаточно толстых (реальных) слоев отложений.- the ability to remove sufficiently thick (real) layers of deposits.
The technical result from the use of the invention is to significantly reduce the time for decontamination in a closed volume due to the combination of deactivating and cavitation properties of the stream. Moreover, the internal surfaces of equipment and pipelines are simultaneously cleaned of various types (including different thicknesses) of contaminants, including radioactive ones. At the same time, energy consumption and decontamination solution consumption are significantly reduced due to its repeated use. In this case, there is no secondary radioactive contamination of the surface being cleaned, which significantly increases the decontamination efficiency. Using a closed loop of decontamination solution allows you to create an environmentally friendly decontamination process.
The specified technical result is achieved by the fact that a method of cleaning the surface of radioactive contaminants by treating the contaminated surface with an aqueous decontamination solution and then removing the spent decontamination solution is carried out, moreover, the contaminated surface is treated in a closed volume of the decontamination solution by exposing the contaminated surface to a cavitating stream of decontamination solution, while the difference between the flow pressure of the decontamination solution and with aticheskim closed volume pressure decontamination solution is 40-60 atm (0.4-0.6 MPa), and processing the contaminated surface is carried out at a temperature of decontamination solution 18-22 ° C.
If it is necessary to ensure a closed cleaning cycle with the reuse of the decontamination solution, preferably after removal, the spent decontamination solution is sent for processing to separate the radioactive and mechanical components of the contamination, and after processing the decontamination solution is sent back to the treatment of the contaminated surface.
е. The features indicated in the claims are necessary and sufficient, i.e. are significant.
The proposal is not known from available sources of information, it does not explicitly follow from the prior art, and at the same time it is industrially applicable as a decontamination method, that is, it meets all the eligibility criteria under current law.
The proposed method (schematically) is illustrated by drawings:
Figure 1 schematically shows the cycle of the implementation of the decontamination of the inner closed surface of the pipeline. Figure 2 presents a closed loop, where:
1 - генератор кавитационного потока;1 - cavitation flow generator;

The method is implemented as follows.
The
The process of decontamination of the
2.Then the spent decontamination solution is removed (Fig. 1) from the volume of the cleaned
To implement a closed cycle (figure 2) of decontamination, the spent solution is sent for processing 6 to separate both radioactive and various salt deposits. Recycled decontamination solution is again fed through the
In the present invention, the optimal conditions for the decontamination process are provided with a pressure drop of 0.4-0.6 MPa.
Experimental studies show that with a pressure drop below 0.4 MPa, the intensity of the cavitation erosion process drops sharply.
When the differential is higher than 0.6 MPa, the process intensity does not increase and therefore it makes no sense to increase the differential pressure.
Changing the temperature of the solution does not lead to sharp changes in the efficiency of the process, therefore, the cost of heating the solution is impractical.
As a result of the application of the proposed cleaning method does not occur secondary radioactive contamination of surfaces.
In this way, it is possible to clean surfaces with a high ratio of the thickness of the pollution to the diameter of the pipeline, up to tightly clogged pipelines.
In this case, the residual radioactive contamination of the surfaces does not exceed the values specified in the radiation safety standards NRB-99 for the serviced premises.
The traditional method of decontamination using liquid decontamination solutions is carried out for ~ 4-6 hours to establish chemical equilibrium, the proposed method of decontamination is carried out within a few minutes.
In the proposed method of decontamination in comparison with the prototype, the effectiveness of decontamination is 100-1000 times higher. (To d - the coefficient of decontamination, its value determines the effectiveness of cleaning the surface from pollution and the presence of secondary pollution).
Using the proposed method allows to conduct the process without heating, repeatedly cleaned with one solution, reduce the time of the decontamination process and eliminate secondary radioactive contamination of the treated surfaces.
Такие результаты достигаются сочетанием дезактивирующих свойств раствора и свойств кавитирующего потока при определенной величине перепада давлений и невысокой температуры среды (18-22°С).Such results are achieved by a combination of the deactivating properties of the solution and the properties of the cavitating flow at a certain pressure drop and low medium temperature (18-22 ° C).
Thus, the proposed invention is aimed at solving the problem and meets all the criteria for eligibility under applicable law.
The method was tested during the work on the decontamination of tubing in Neftekumsk, Stavropol Territory and at the Smolensk NPP.
