Abstract
Description
The invention relates to hydrometallurgy and can be used in the processing of waste from the production of single crystals of compounds of refractory metals with alkali metals, in particular metatantalate and lithium methaniobate, to obtain high-purity compounds of refractory metals and lithium suitable for re-growing single crystals.
95-100%.A known method of decomposition of waste products for the production of single crystals of lithium methaniobate (see ed. Certificate of USSR 1011530, IPC 3 C 01 G 33/00, 1983), including grinding the waste, sintering it with ammonium bifluoride at a weight ratio of NH 4 HF 2 : LiNbO 3 = (1.4-1.6): 1 and a temperature of 127-260 o C to obtain a cake of fluoroammonium compound niobium with lithium and leaching cake with water at a weight ratio of T: W = 1: 1.3-1.6 with the conversion of lithium to the precipitate in the form of lithium fluoride, and niobium in the solution, separation of the precipitate and precipitation of niobium hydroxide with ammonia water. The resulting niobium hydroxide is washed with ammonia water, dried and calcined at 900 ° C. for 3 hours to obtain niobium pentoxide. Extraction of niobium and lithium is 95-100%.
The disadvantage of this method is that with a relatively high degree of extraction of niobium and lithium, these target components are concentrated respectively in solution and precipitate, which complicates their further processing in order to obtain high-purity compounds of lithium and niobium for re-growing single crystals. The resulting lithium fluoride is difficult to regenerate into lithium carbonate, used to prepare the charge, and the resulting niobium pentoxide does not correspond to the “high purity” brand, as it is contaminated with impurities contained in the waste, as well as with fluorine and ammonium impurities. The disadvantages of the method include the high aggressiveness of ammonium and fluorine compounds entering the gas phase during sintering, which negatively affects environmental safety, as well as the need to use special structural materials and equipment.
There is also a method of decomposing waste products for the production of single crystals of lithium methaniobate (see Kulifeyev V.K., Myakisheva L.V. - May 19-24, 1996, St. Petersburg, 1996, pp. 337-338), including sintering of lithium methaniobate with a slight excess of lithium carbonate with respect to stoichiometry at a temperature of 700-725 o With obtaining lithium orthioniobate and subsequent processing its hydrochloric acid solution. In this case, lithium passes into solution, and niobium precipitates in the form of complex compounds, after calcination of which an amorphous form of niobium pentoxide is obtained.
The disadvantage of this method is that the target components in the form of niobium and lithium are concentrated respectively in the precipitate and solution, which complicates their further processing in order to obtain high-purity compounds of lithium and niobium for re-growing single crystals. The resulting complex niobium compounds contain unopened lithium methaniobate, because according to the thermal-weight analysis, the decomposition of lithium carbonate basically ends at 800-840 ° C, i.e., in the temperature range 700-725 ° C, complete conversion of lithium methaniobate to orthioniobate cannot be achieved. Niobium oxide, emitted by a known method, cannot be assigned to the class of highly pure compounds, because after calcination, it will contain impurities present in the waste from the production of lithium niobate single crystals, such as iron, aluminum, silicon, and others.
The present invention is directed to solving the problem of obtaining a collective solution of lithium and tantalum or niobium compounds for its subsequent extraction processing to obtain highly pure compounds suitable for re-growing single crystals. The invention also solves the problem of providing a high degree of extraction of lithium and tantalum or niobium in solution with a limited duration of sintering and leaching operations.
1:4-7.The problem is achieved in that in the method for decomposing waste products of single crystals of compounds of refractory metals with lithium, including sintering of waste with lithium carbonate taken in excess with respect to stoichiometry, to obtain a cake of the compound of refractory metal with lithium in orthoform and its leaching with hydrochloric acid with translation lithium into a solution according to the invention particulate waste sintering is carried out at 2-10% excess of lithium carbonate and at a temperature 800-1000 o C, and sinter is carried out with a mixture leaching concentra th e hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids in the ratio S: L of not more than 0.16 and a temperature of 18-70 o C with a transfer to the solution, along with lithium, and the refractory metal, wherein the hydrofluoric acid is administered in an amount providing a molar ratio of the refractory metal and fluorine of 1 : 4-7.
The problem is also solved by the fact that as a compound of the refractory metal with lithium take metatantalate or lithium methaniobate.
The problem is solved in the case of the presence of doping additives of chromium and neodymium in lithium metatantalate, and magnesium additives in lithium metaniobate.
The solution to this problem is achieved by the fact that before sintering, the waste is crushed to a particle size of less than 160 microns.
The solution to this problem is achieved by the fact that the sintering of waste is carried out within 1-2 hours.
The solution to this problem is facilitated by the fact that 35-39% hydrochloric and 40-47% hydrochloric acid are used to leach cake.
The solution to the problem also contributes to the fact that the leaching of lithium orthothantalate is carried out at a temperature of 40-70 o C, and lithium orthioniobate at a temperature of 18-50 o C.
Sintering of waste with a 2-10% excess of lithium carbonate is necessary in order to completely convert lithium metatantalate or methaniobate to lithium orthothantalate or orthoniobate, respectively. With an excess of lithium carbonate of less than 2%, there will be incomplete interaction of the waste with lithium carbonate, and an excess of more than 10% is undesirable due to possible reverse reactions and unproductive consumption of scarce lithium reagent.
When sintering waste for less than 1 hour, it is not possible to convert all tantalum or niobium to the orthoform due to incomplete reactions, and sintering for more than 2 hours does not lead to a noticeable increase in the fraction of orthoform of tantalate or lithium niobate and, accordingly, an increase in the degree of extraction of lithium and tantalum or niobium in solution.
A decrease in the sintering temperature of the waste with lithium carbonate below 800 ° C. leads to the incomplete conversion of lithium metatantalate or methaniobate to lithium orthotantalate or orthioniobate, since Under these conditions, incomplete decomposition of lithium carbonate into carbon dioxide and lithium oxide occurs, the last of which interacts with lithium metatantalate or methaniobate to form lithium orthothantalate or orthioniobate. Sintering at a temperature of more than 1000 o C increases the energy intensity of the process, without changing the degree of transition to lithium orthothantalate or orthoniobate.
The addition of hydrofluoric acid to concentrated hydrochloric acid in an amount corresponding to a molar ratio of the refractory metal to fluorine of 1: 4-7 allows, with a minimum input of fluorine, all lithium and tantalum or niobium to be transferred into the solution almost completely. This molar ratio provides for the binding of tantalum or niobium to fluoride complexes, which are then well extracted. In this case, free fluorine is completely absent, which increases the quality of the obtained tantalum or niobium pentoxides. With a ratio of more than 1: 7, free fluorine appears in the solution, which is undesirable from the point of view of the purity of the target products, and with a ratio of less than 1: 4, the solutions become unstable and the degree of extraction of tantalum and lithium or niobium and lithium decreases.
Sinter leaching with a mixture of concentrated hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids at a T: G ratio of not more than 0.16 allows lithium and tantalum or niobium to be converted into a solution, eliminating the formation of hydrated tantalum or niobium oxides, and ensuring a high degree of extraction of the target products with a decrease in the duration of the leaching operation. The lower limit T: W is limited by technological feasibility in terms of excessive consumption of hydrochloric acid.
The use of a mixture of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids with a concentration of 35-39% and 40-47%, respectively, for leaching the cake allows for the most efficient transfer of lithium and tantalum or niobium into the solution. A decrease in the concentration of hydrochloric acid below 35% and hydrofluoric acid below 40% leads to a decrease in the degree of extraction of the refractory metal into the solution due to thermohydrolysis, as well as to an increase in material flows during subsequent extraction. The upper limit of 39% and 47% concentrations of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids is due to the concentrations of these acids produced by industry.
The selected temperature range of 18-70 o With leaching cake is due to the fact that this achieves a high degree of extraction in a solution of lithium, niobium or tantalum, including alloying additives. Leaching of lithium orthioniobate and lithium orthotanthalate at a temperature of less than 18 and 40 ° C, respectively, leads to a decrease in the degree of extraction of niobium and tantalum, as well as lithium and an increase in leaching time, and at a temperature of more than 50 and 70 ° C there is no significant increase in the extraction of target components.
Grinding the waste to a particle size of less than 160 μm provides the most complete conversion of lithium metatantalate or lithium methaniobate to lithium orthothantalate or lithium orthioniobate when they are sintered with lithium carbonate, which facilitates the conversion of lithium and tantalum or niobium into solution.
Lithium metatantalate may contain alloying additives in the form of chromium and neodymium, and lithium metaniobate in the form of magnesium, which, within the framework of the stated process parameters, almost completely enter the solution and are separated during its subsequent extraction processing. It is also possible decomposition of a mixture of waste metatantalate and lithium methaniobate with the transfer into the solution of target and alloying components.

From the above examples it follows that the claimed method allows to obtain a collective solution of lithium and tantalum or niobium compounds while ensuring a high degree of extraction of the target components into the solution and a limited duration of sintering and leaching operations. Subsequent extraction processing of the solution results in high-purity compounds of tantalum or niobium, as well as lithium chloride, which is easily regenerated into lithium carbonate. All the obtained products can be reused for the preparation of the mixture in the production of single crystals of metatantalate or lithium methaniobate. When implementing the method, standard equipment is used.
