Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the production of chemical fibers, in particular to processes for producing solutions for forming hydrated cellulose fibers, mainly from wood pulp.
Введение в NMMO полярных органических жидкостей позволяет снизить вязкость раствора и температуру переработки (N.E.Franks, Y.K.Varga // Process for making precipitated cellulose. Pat. USA 4145532, С 08 В 16/00, 20.03.1979). A known method of obtaining a solution for forming hydrated cellulose fibers by dissolving cellulose in monohydrate N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO). The introduction of polar organic liquids into NMMOs makes it possible to reduce the viscosity of the solution and the processing temperature (N.E. Franks, Y. K. Varg // Process for making precipitated cellulose. Pat. USA 4145532, C 08B 16/00, 03/20/1979). According to this method, aprotic or protolytic substances are used that do not dissolve cellulose on their own and serve to dilute the solution. The diluent content may reach 50% or more by weight of the amine oxide.
Closest to the claimed is the method for producing cellulose solutions described in the work (Golov L.K. et al. // High molecular weight compounds. 1986, v. 28A, 11, pp. 2308-2312). The authors of this work used NMMO monohydrate containing 1-15% organic amine (diethylamine, or diethanolamine, or tetramethylethyleneamine, or hexamethylenediamine) to dissolve sulfate cellulose. It was shown that the introduction of hexamethylenediamine (HMDA) leads to a decrease in the viscosity of 5% cellulose solutions, to an increase in the dissolution rate and thermal stability of the prepared solutions. The dissolution was carried out at a temperature of 85 o C.
The disadvantage of this method of obtaining a solution of cellulose is that the addition of these amines, including HMDA, to NMMO leads to a decrease in the dissolving ability of the latter, that is, the maximum achieved concentration of cellulose in the solution decreases. The strength obtained by precipitation of the cellulose solution in an aqueous or aqueous-organic bath of hydrated cellulose fibers also decreases.
The technical result of the proposed solution is to increase the concentration of cellulose in solution while reducing viscosity, as well as increasing the strength of products (fibers, films) obtained from cellulose solution. The result is achieved in that, for example, polyethyleneimine in an amount of 0.5-2.00% by weight of NMMO monohydrate is used as an organic amine. In this case, the cellulose is dissolved with stirring in a mixture of NMMO-polyethyleneimine (PEI) preheated to a temperature of 70-95 ° C. Albumin may also be used as an organic amine. The technical result consists in increasing the dissolving ability of NMMO, that is, when using the specified mixture to dissolve at the indicated ratios of the components, a higher concentration of cellulose in the solution can be achieved. In addition, this simultaneously reduces the viscosity of the solution. A significant increase in the strength of the finished fibers is also achieved.
A significant difference of the proposed method for producing a cellulose solution is that the addition of PEI to NMMO increases the solvating ability of the solvent, which is proved by thermochemical studies. This factor leads to an increase in the solubility of NMMO, that is, it is possible to achieve a higher concentration of cellulose in solution. Despite the increase in cellulose concentration, at the same time there is a decrease in the viscosity of the solution, which is associated with the "loosening" effect of PEI. It is known to use PEI as a crosslinking agent in adhesives, but in the proposed method it plays the role of a "disintegrant", reducing viscosity. This effect, however, does not affect the strength of the finished fibers, which increases by 1.5-1.8 times. The effect is also observed when using albumin as an organic amine, the use of which as a binding substance in blood preparations or in the food industry is known, but in this case it acts as a “loosening” substance, reducing the viscosity of the cellulose solution.
The sequence of preparation of the cellulose solution plays a significant role. So, in the prototype, the effect of reducing viscosity is achieved with the introduction of an amine in NMMO both before dissolution of the cellulose and after it. In the proposed method, a mixture of NMMO with PEI is heated to 70-95 o C, and then with stirring, cellulose is introduced into it. If PEI is added after the introduction of cellulose, the viscosity of the solution remains practically unchanged, and the effect of increasing the strength of the fibers is also not achieved. If cellulose and PEI are added to NMMO at the same time, then the solubility of cellulose decreases sharply, which is explained by the blocking of active centers of cellulose with functional groups of PEI. The temperature range of 70-95 o With due to the melting point of NMMO (lower limit) and the beginning of the destruction of cellulose (upper limit). It was experimentally found that the addition of other organic amines of a similar structure in the indicated amounts and with the indicated sequence for preparing the solution does not lead to the effect of a significant increase in the concentration of cellulose in the solution and at the same time a decrease in viscosity, as well as an increase in the strength of the fibers obtained after precipitation of the cellulose solution in aqueous or aqueous organic bath. A decrease in the amount of PEI in the solution does not produce the claimed effect; an increase in excess of that indicated in the formula leads to an increase in the viscosity of the solution and a deterioration in its filterability.
The invention is illustrated by the following examples.
Beech sulfite cellulose with a degree of polymerization (SP) 430 and a moisture content of 10% is pre-crushed to increase the contact surface with the solvent, the particle size is up to 5 mm, and placed in molten NMMO monohydrate at a temperature of 85 o With stirring until the cellulose is completely dissolved. The completeness of dissolution was monitored using a polarization microscope with a Boetius heating stage. The viscosity of the solution was determined at Reotest at 85 o C. Fibers were obtained in a micro-installation laboratory MUL by molding through dies with a diameter of 0.1 mm at a speed of 1.5 m / min, followed by precipitation in a water bath. The breaking load and elongation of the obtained fibers were determined on a tensile testing machine RM-250.
Example 2 (prototype). 95% NMMO is mixed with 5% hexamethylenediamine, cellulose is added to the mixture heated to 85 ° C, as described above, thermostatically until completely dissolved.
Example 3. 99% NMMO is mixed with 1% polyethyleneimine with a degree of polymerization of 600, cellulose is added to a mixture heated to 85 ° C. , thermostating until completely dissolved.
2300. Example 6 is characterized in that spruce sulfite cellulose with SP 750 is used for dissolution; in example 7, a cotton linter with a SP 2300.
In Example 8, cellulose is dissolved in a mixture of NMMO-PEI heated to 95 ° C. , in Example 9, the temperature of the mixture is 70 ° C. In Example 3-9, polyethylenemin with SP 600 is taken, but PEI with another SP can be used similarly.
In Examples 10-12, bovine serum albumin is used as an organic amine.
Solvent compositions and characteristics of cellulose solutions and physicomechanical properties of the finished fibers are presented in the table.
The above results indicate that when using PEI as the organic amine in the indicated amounts and for the indicated sequence of solution preparation (Examples 3–9), the obtained cellulose solutions at a much higher concentration have a lower viscosity, and the finished fibers give strength values of 1.5 -1.8 times higher in comparison with the prototype. The specified method can be applied to dissolve cellulose of any nature and degree of polymerization (examples 6, 7). The same effect is achieved when albumin is used as an organic amine (Examples 10-12).
The prepared solutions remain stable for at least 6 hours, the degree of polymerization of cellulose at these temperatures remains almost unchanged. The mixture used for dissolution can be separated by known methods, followed by reuse of the components. After repeated use, the solvent components undergo chemical or biochemical treatment.
The resulting set of indicators (high concentration of the solution and at the same time low viscosity, as well as an increase in the strength characteristics of the fiber) will expand the range of hydrated cellulose fibers of increased strength, which was difficult to achieve when highly concentrated cellulose solutions, which have poor fluidity and filterability, are deposited through spinnerets with a small diameter of holes. To obtain fibers of small cross section with high strength, it was necessary to overheat highly concentrated solutions of cellulose, which negatively affects the final performance of the fibers and increases energy consumption. The application of the proposed method for producing a solution of cellulose allows to obtain a wide range of hydrated cellulose fibers of high strength.
