Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the electrical industry, namely the production of lead batteries.
To form electrode boards of lead-acid batteries, in particular positive electrodes, as a rule, paste activators, which are acid-resistant synthetic resins used most often in the form of fibers, are introduced. So, it is known the use as such a material of polyethylene or polypropylene fiber / Patent DE 3038440 (1980) /. The disadvantage of paste based on such activators, whose role should be to fix the paste on lead gratings and increase pore formation, is its low utilization rate. This is due to the strong clumping of such fibers due to electrostatic attraction and as a result of their uneven distribution over the entire mass of the paste. As a result, electrode boards based on such pastes have a very short service life and low utilization rate.
Known paste for the positive electrode of a lead battery, in which to eliminate this disadvantage as an activator is used an aqueous suspension of fluoropolymer brand 4D / Patent SU 386460 (1973) /, obtained by drop polymerization of tetrafluoroethylene in the presence of surface-active substances. The disadvantage of this paste is the low adaptability of the process of its production due to the need to use a surfactant and low stability of the emulsion of the activator, which is easily coagulated when the stabilizer of the suspension is destroyed.
Closest to the proposed invention is a method of forming electrode boards, where acid-resistant synthetic resins, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and / or polyvinyl chloride, are not only in the form of fibers from 1-30 mm in length and 0 in width, it is proposed to use fillers for positive paste 1-1 mm, but also in powder form (RT JP 53126129, PA MATSUSHITA ELEC CO LTD).
The disadvantage of this method is the low mechanical strength of the electrode boards, as well as clumping of the paste during the formation of the electrode boards, which leads to an increase in the number of rejected electrodes.
The aim of the invention is to strengthen the mechanical strength of the electrode boards of the batteries while maintaining high porosity (more than 50%), the exclusion of clumping paste at the stage of formation of the electrode boards, as well as increasing the kinetic capacity of the batteries.
This goal is achieved by using as a filler a powdered inorganic substance - silicon dioxide released from waste products from enterprises of the aluminum industry, according to the previously developed method / RF Patent 2031838, Bull. fig. 9 (1995) /. Silicon dioxide of the empirical formula SiO 2 proposed as a filler is a white powder with an average particle size of 10-45 microns, a bulk specific gravity of 209 g / dm 3 , a true specific gravity of 1.53 g / cm 3 , and a specific surface of 164-190 m 2 / g
The degree of purity of such silica is 99.9%. The content of impurities of other elements (iron, aluminum, lead, copper, alkali metals, etc.) does not exceed 10 -3 -10 -4 %. Aqueous extracts of silicon dioxide have a pH of 6.03, which indicates the presence in its composition of fragments - SiOH, which are acidic in nature.
The invention is illustrated by the following examples.
Example 1. Obtaining a positive paste according to the proposed method. 0.3 kg of silicon dioxide powder, 400 kg of lead powder, 48 kg of water and 44.8 kg of sulfuric acid solution (density 1.4 g / cm 3 ) are fed into the mixer with stirring. The resulting mixture is stirred for no more than 9 minutes until the temperature of the paste drops to 50 o C.
Example 2. Obtaining a positive paste according to the prototype method. 0.3 kg of chopped polypropylene (or polyethylene) fiber, 400 kg of lead powder, 48 kg of water and 44.8 kg of sulfuric acid solution (density 1.4 g / cm 3 ) are fed into the mixer with stirring. The resulting mixture is stirred for no more than 9 minutes until the temperature of the paste drops to 50 o C.
Example 3. The definition of the control parameters of the experimental paste and paste obtained by the prototype method (see table).
Thus, the introduction of a lead battery into the paste for the positive electrode as a filler of amorphous, finely dispersed, chemically pure silicon dioxide, which is a product of the processing of industrial waste from the aluminum industry, significantly strengthens the mechanical strength of electrode boards while maintaining high porosity, eliminating clumping and increasing the kinetic capacity of batteries while maintaining the basic control parameters of this paste.
