Abstract
Description
The invention relates to nuclear technology, namely to the removal of potentially hazardous substances from a nuclear reactor loop.
During the manufacturing, installation, commissioning and operation of a nuclear reactor, it is possible that substances can enter the circuit that can affect the reliability and safety of the nuclear power plant (NPP) as a whole. One of such substances is mercury, which belongs to the group of potentially hazardous elements, the presence of which in the form of impurities of structural materials, media and reagents, as well as the use in equipment manufacturing technologies is unacceptable. From the point of view of reliability and safety, mercury can accelerate the dissolution of a number of structural materials used in reactor engineering: aluminum, titanium, uranium, zirconium. High cross sections for the activation of mercury nuclides lead to the accumulation in the circuit of large quantities of long-lived radionuclides 203-Hg and 197-Hg and, as a consequence, the deterioration of the radiation environment during the operation of nuclear power plants. Thus, to ensure the reliability of the equipment and the safety of the operation of the nuclear power plant, it is necessary to clean the reactor circuit from mercury.
Known methods for removing contaminants by passing the coolant through ion-exchange filters [1]. The disadvantage of these methods is the low mercury removal efficiency, as under the conditions of a nuclear reactor with a reducing water-chemical regime, it is in the form of neutral atoms and is distributed between the surfaces of the circuit, the coolant, and the vapor-gas medium.
Known methods for removing contaminants from the surfaces of structural materials by chemical dissolution [2]. The disadvantage of these methods is the low efficiency associated with the decommissioning of the reactor for a long time, the use of additional reagents and the formation of a large amount of radioactive waste.
[3].The closest in technical essence analogue is a method for removing mercury from aqueous solutions by passing them through various fibrous and granular ion exchangers: weakly and very weakly acid cation exchangers with phenolic, carboxyl and sulfohydrol groups in the Na form; strongly and weakly basic anion exchangers in salt form (powdered and granular, gel, isoporous and macroporous strongly and medium ionized organic cation exchangers in H, NH 4 or Li form and OH form anion exchangers are used for water purification in the circuits of nuclear power plants), on which absorption of mercury in various forms: doubly charged cations, organic neutral and cationic complexes, inorganic neutral or anionic complexes [3].
The disadvantage of this method is the low removal efficiency of mercury in the form of neutral atoms.
The objective of the proposed method is to increase the efficiency of removal of mercury from the primary circuit of a water-water reactor.
The technical result of the invention is to reduce the likelihood of emergencies and increase the safety of the practical implementation of the process of removing mercury from the primary circuit of a nuclear reactor.
The essence of the invention lies in the fact that the removal of mercury is carried out by removing a vapor-gas mixture from the circuit of a nuclear reactor at a temperature of at least 200 o C, the steam is condensed, and the steam condensate and non-condensing gases are purified on an electron-ion exchanger, the process is carried out on a stopped reactor at a coolant temperature of 200-250 o C at a rate of mercury removal from the circuit equal to the rate of mercury from the coolant to the vapor-gas medium.
Distinctive features of the proposed method from the closest analogue are the removal of the vapor-gas mixture from the circuit at a temperature of at least 200 o C, purification of steam condensate and non-condensable gases on the electron-ion exchanger, the process on a stopped reactor at a coolant temperature of 200-250 o C and at a rate of mercury removal from contour equal to the rate of mercury from the coolant to the vapor-gas medium.
The efficiency of the mercury removal process is achieved by reducing the volume of coolant needed for cleaning, reducing the process time, reducing the likelihood of emergencies and increasing safety.
фиг. 1 - зависимость коэффициента распределения (Kр) ртути между парогазовой и водной фазами от температуры, Kр - отношение объемных концентраций ртути в парогазовой фазе и воде;
The list of drawings:
FIG. 1 - temperature distribution coefficient (K p ) of mercury between the gas-vapor and water phases, K p - the ratio of volume concentrations of mercury in the gas-vapor phase and water;
FIG. 2 - temperature dependence of the amount of mercury adsorbed on the surface of structural materials (in% of the total mercury content in the circuit - m).
We found that when mercury and / or its compounds get into the first circuit of a nuclear reactor with a reducing water-chemical regime of the coolant, it transforms into neutral atoms, whose behavior in the loop is characterized by temperature-dependent distribution coefficients of mercury between the surfaces of the loop, the coolant, and the gas-vapor Wednesday. These dependencies in the form of graphs are shown in FIG. 1, 2. According to the results obtained, at a coolant temperature of more than 200 o C almost all mercury is distributed between the aqueous and gas-vapor media of the primary circuit, and at temperatures below 100 o C mercury is mainly located on the surfaces of the equipment.
Improving the efficiency of the removal process is achieved by the fact that, firstly, the process proceeds at coolant temperatures, which, as shown in FIG. 2, the almost complete transfer of mercury from surfaces to technological environments. Secondly, the equality of the rates of removal of mercury from the circuit and its transition from the coolant to the vapor-gas medium provides an optimal mode of purification of the circuit from mercury from the point of view of cleaning time and the amount of vapor-gas medium discharged. Finally, the data of FIG. 1, 2 show that to reduce the mercury content by a factor of 10 by removing mercury “with the heat carrier”, at least two to three masses of the heat carrier must be passed through the purification system. In the case of removal of mercury from the circuit by removing and purifying a gas-vapor mixture ("through gas") under the same conditions, steam condensate must be passed through the purification system in an amount of about 10% of the mass of the coolant at a coolant temperature of 200 o C and about 4 times less if process is conducted at a temperature of
For the practical implementation of the method, the reactor is dipped to a temperature of 200-250 o C and maintain this temperature due to residual heat. The vapor-gas mixture is discharged using standard vapor-gas mixture discharge systems (for example, a steam volume compensator system [4]) or sampling lines [5] containing shut-off and control valves and heat exchangers that allow the gas-vapor mixture to be cooled to a temperature of 30 ± 5 o C. B the composition of the sampling lines, in addition, includes elements that can be used to implement a method for removing mercury, for example, rotameters for measuring the flow rate of liquid and gas media, a degasser for degassing the coolant and eniya gas phase and automatic meters total radioactivity gases or activity of the reference isotope gases. Steam condensate and non-condensable gases are passed through columns filled with an electron exchanger, for example, EI-21 [6]. Maintaining equality of the rates of removal of mercury from the circuit and its transition from the coolant to the gas-vapor medium is carried out by controlling the flow rate of the gas-vapor mixture, which is carried out by measuring the ratio of the radionuclide content of 197-Hg and (or) 203-Hg (selected as reference for automatic measurement of activity) in samples of the coolant (for this purpose, a sampling line is used to select the coolant) and steam condensate, keeping it close to the distribution coefficient between the coolant and steam for a given temperature (Fig. 1). By increasing the ratio of these radionuclides in the coolant and steam condensate by more than 10%, the steam consumption is reduced.
Purified steam condensate can be returned to the circuit of a nuclear reactor using standard feed pumps.
