Abstract
Description
The invention relates to foundry, in particular to the development of compositions of anti-friction non-magnetic cast irons.
The technical task of the invention is to increase the machinability of castings, wear resistance and operational properties of castings.
The closest analogue is non-magnetic cast iron, known from the USSR copyright certificate N 406942, class. C 22 C 37/00, 07.26.71. Cast iron contains components in the following ratio, wt.%:
Carbon - 3.0 - 3.8
Silicon - 2.0 - 2.5
Manganese - 8.0 - 11.0
Nickel - 0.8 - 1.5
Copper - 2.5 - 3.5
Aluminum - 0.8 - 1.2
Iron - Else
Known cast iron can be used in diesel engineering, shipbuilding, electrical engineering and other industries for parts operating in sliding friction with lubrication.
This cast iron is uniform in structure. Large, unevenly distributed acute-angle carbides in combination with large plate graphite, being stress concentrators, significantly reduce the operational properties of the material and shorten the service life of products, causing acceleration and uneven wear of working surfaces. In addition, such an unfavorable structure leads to premature wear of the cutting tool during machining of the material.
An object of the invention is the creation of anti-friction non-magnetic cast iron with better machinability and wear resistance.
This goal is achieved by the fact that anti-friction cast iron containing carbon, silicon, manganese, nickel, copper and iron additionally contains vanadium in the following ratio of components, wt.%:
Carbon - 3.3 - 3.7
Silicon - 2.6 - 3.0
Manganese - 8.0 - 11.0
Nickel - 2.0 - 4.0
Copper - 3.5 - 5.5
Vanadium - 0.2 - 0.4
Iron - Else
while the content of sulfur and phosphorus in it does not exceed, wt.%
Sulfur - 0.1
Phosphorus - 0.3
Improving the machinability and wear resistance is achieved by introducing vanadium and adjusting the overall composition.
Vanadium is an element of the periodic system D.I. Mendeleev, is characterized by the absence of p-electrons and the presence of unfilled d-orbitals of the atomic nucleus, which results in a decrease in the thermodynamic activity of carbon when vanadium is introduced into the molten iron. In addition, vanadium has a higher energy of interaction with carbon than that of manganese. This leads to the formation of dispersed vanadium carbides (VC), which prevents the solid solution from being depleted in manganese and helps to stabilize austenite. As a result, the structure contains smaller and evenly distributed carbides and, as a result, smaller and similarly located inclusions of graphite.
A comparative analysis of the features that distinguish this proposal from well-known technical solutions in the field showed that in this combination new properties appear - an increase in workability and wear resistance.
The following is an example of a process for producing anti-friction non-magnetic cast iron.
1450 - 1500oC.The proposed cast iron was smelted in an induction crucible furnace with a capacity of one ton with an acid lining. As charge components, guest ferroalloys and materials were used. Nickel, a carburetor (if necessary), steel scrap, pig iron, ferrosilicon, and copper were loaded into the furnace. After the charge was melted and slag was removed, ferromanganese and ferrovanadium were introduced into the furnace before the metal was released. The temperature of the discharge of the melt from the furnace 1450 - 1500 o C.
1. The chemical composition, microstructure and mechanical properties of the known and proposed cast irons are given in table 1.
An analysis of the results shows that the wear of the cutting tool during processing of the proposed cast iron is reduced by 10 - 15% during both roughing and finishing. Increasing the uniformity of the alloy structure significantly affects the operational properties, that is, the wear resistance increases.
