Abstract
Description
The proposal relates to military equipment and can be used to create a hand-held anti-personnel grenade of increased power.
A distinctive feature of the F-1 hand-held fragmentation grenade that is in service with the Russian Army, taken as a prototype, is its corrugated case made of steel cast iron and the use of powdered TNT. The F-1 grenade was widely used in World War II when conducting defensive battles against unprotected manpower. In this case, the energy of 10 kg fragments was considered sufficient.
In modern conditions, in the armies of NATO countries, the protection of manpower in the form of body armor, helmets from Kevlar and other materials is widely used, which makes demands for increasing the destructive energy of fragments (increasing the speed of fragments, improving their aerodynamic characteristics, as well as increasing the average mass of fragments) .
For breaking through modern body armor, the kinetic energy of the fragments of at least 25 kgm is required. In order to provide higher kinetic energy of the fragments, a hand-made fragmentation grenade is proposed, which consists of the main body of steel cast iron and a steel inner shell equipped with molten TNT.
The essence of the proposal is that, while maintaining the dimensions and mass of the F-1 grenade, increase the filling ratio through the use of cast TNT, but at the same time increase the average mass of the fragments, their expansion speed and the radius of the destructive action of the fragments.
It is known that when using ammunition of cast iron, to avoid crushing the shells when exploding into small fragments, a surrogate explosive or powdered TNT is used, as in the F-1 grenade.
It has been experimentally shown that the shells of ammunition for steel cast iron are destroyed in an explosion with virtually no deformation. Therefore, when the first cracks appear, the detonation products break through and the pressure drops. The fragments receive a rotational motion, which affects their aerodynamic characteristics. Thus, the potential explosion is not fully utilized.
In order to increase the speed of the fragments, it is proposed to use in the F-1 grenade a cast explosive charge - TNT and an internal steel thin-walled shell. Due to large deformations during the explosion, such a shell will provide a prolongation of the action of detonation products and will contribute to an increase in the velocity of fragments and their scattering angles. When casting grenade cases, the steel shell can be used as an unremovable rod.
(5). The proposed design of a hand fragmentation grenade is shown in the drawing. The grenade consists of a grenade body F-1 (1), a steel inner shell (2) with a thickness of 0.5 - 0.6 mm; molten TNT charge (3), checkers of an additional tetril detonator (4), UZRGM fuse (5).
The sequence of operations when applying the proposed grenade is similar to the sequence of actions when throwing a standard grenade F-1. For a more reliable initiation of cast TNT explosive charge in the proposed garnet provides an additional tetryl detonator (4). When the detonator capsule explodes, the impulse is transmitted to an additional detonator, which initiates a grenade charge.
With the expansion of detonation products, the inner shell (2) is deformed, which leads to the destruction of the steel cast iron body (1) by the given fragments, their movement without separation from the inner shell until it is destroyed.
The destruction of the inner shell will occur when it is deformed and the diameter of the shell increases by 2-2.5 times (according to calculation).
Thus, prolongation of the action of detonation products on fragments is achieved — an increase in their velocity and scattering angles with a decrease in the rotational velocity of the fragments.
Technical and economic indicators
1. The proposed manual fragmentation grenade will increase the effectiveness of destruction of enemy manpower, which has special protection, and thereby increase the reliability of defensive actions.
2. Reduce the consumption of grenades in a defensive battle and generally reduce the cost of material resources while improving the reliability of defense.
