Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular, to methods of intensification of technological processes in liquid metals.
A known method of refining electrically conductive melts, which is the basis of the work of the "Aluminum refining system SNIF R-60/4", presented in the "Technical Description" attached to the application, where inert gas or gas-dust mixture is pumped into chambers with an electrically conductive melt, which is mechanically the device is mixed with a medium of electrically conductive melt. Inert gas bubbles or particles of a gas-dust mixture, being nuclei and reacting with impurities, collect them around themselves, subsequently floating up to the surface where impurities are removed or trapped in the filters. However, this refining method has the following disadvantages:
1. Mixing of an inert gas or gas-dust mixture with the melt medium occurs using mechanical devices, which does not ensure uniform distribution of inert gas throughout the volume of the processed melt.
2. The need for a constant supply of an inert gas or gas-dust mixture significantly complicates the implementation of the method, increases the cost of equipment.
3. The presence of residual microparticles of blown dust in the melt after refining and filtering reduces the quality of the cast ingots.
4. The presence of mechanical rotating rotors for mixing in an installation that implements the method, which are located in a high-temperature medium of electrically conductive melt, leads to their rapid failure and failure of the installation as a whole. To increase the service life of the rotors, it is necessary to constantly cool them with an inert gas, which is an expensive procedure.
Closest to the claimed method is a method of magnetohydrodynamic refining ("MHD devices for the preparation of high-quality aluminum alloys", V. N. Timofeev, S. A. Boyakov, R. M. Khristinich, S. A. Rybakov, N. P. Marakushin , A. A. Temerov, Bulletin of the Krasnoyarsk State Technical University; Collected scientific papers; Edited by VV Slabko / KSTU, Issue 2. Krasnoyarsk, 1996, pp. 13-18), in which rotational movement of an electrically conductive melt created by a traveling electromagnetic field with the introduction of an inert gas or gas dust howl of the mixture in the melt. However, the melt rotation speed during the implementation of the method is quite low and can only be used to mix an inert gas or gas-dust mixture. In this case, the melt purification rate and efficiency completely depend on the natural rate of inert gas bubbles floating up on the melt surface (flotation). The implementation of the method without the presence of an inert gas or gas-dust mixture is not possible in this embodiment at all.
The basis of the invention is the task of separating the electrically conductive melt into fractions with high, low and medium (main) specific densities by means of centrifugal forces, centripetal forces and electromagnetic forces, followed by the removal of fractions with high and low specific densities from a further technological process.
The problem is solved in that in the method of electromagnetic refining of an electrically conductive melt by exposing it to a traveling electromagnetic field, this effect is carried out by a field sufficient to create a rotational-translational motion of a high-intensity electrically conductive melt and to isolate particles with different specific densities along a spiral path and simultaneously pass through the melt an electric current with a density of at least 10 A / mm 2 . This makes it possible to enhance the separation of melt particles with different specific densities, to concentrate them at various distances from the axis of rotation and to hold there for some time sufficient for removal from the melt.
The drawing shows a diagram explaining the implementation of the method of electromagnetic refining of an electrically conductive melt.
The source of the electromagnetic field 1 is located outside the metal path 2, inside which there is an electrically conductive melt 3. Under the influence of an electromagnetic field, it moves along the path 4. An electric current 5 is passed through the electrically conductive melt 3, the density of which is unevenly distributed over the cross section of the metal path 2. The electrically conductive melt 3 contains particles 6 impurities with specific gravity less than the main specific gravity of melt 3 (low density) and particles of 7 impurities with specific gravity greater than the main specific melt density 3 (high density).
The method is implemented as follows.
У стенки металлотракта 2 плотность суммарного электрического тока будет максимальной, а на оси - она может достигать значений, близких к нулю, если радиус r металлотракта больше, чем глубина проникновения электромагнитной волны Δ, то есть выполняется неравенство где Здесь ω - циклическая частота электромагнитного поля (c-1), μa - удельная магнитная проницаемость электропроводного расплава (Гн/м), γ - удельная электропроводность расплава (См/м).The source of the electromagnetic field 1 creates in the area of the metal path 2, in which the electrically conductive melt 3 is located, a traveling electromagnetic field that induces eddy currents in the electrically conductive melt 3. Electric eddy currents create their own electromagnetic field, which interacts with the external electromagnetic field of the source 1, leads the electrically conductive melt 3 into a rotational-translational motion directed along the path 4. To increase the total current density in the melt 3, located in the metal path 2, an electric current is passed through it current 5 with a density of at least 10 A / mm 2 . At the same time, the intensities of the electromagnetic field from source 1 and current density 5 must be high enough to create not only intense rotational-translational motion of melt 3, but also electromagnetic forces that can displace non-conductive particles into a zone of lower density. Since the electromagnetic field of source 1 is variable, changing with frequency ω, the distribution of the density of the total electric current over the cross section of the metal path 2 will have the form shown in the drawing. At the metal path wall 2, the density of the total electric current will be maximum, and on the axis it can reach values close to zero if the radius r of the metal path is greater than the penetration depth of the electromagnetic wave Δ, i.e., the inequality Where Here, ω is the cyclic frequency of the electromagnetic field (c -1 ), μ a is the specific magnetic permeability of the electrically conductive melt (GN / m), γ is the specific electrical conductivity of the melt (S / m).
When a high rotational speed is achieved by an electrically conductive melt, particles with a high specific density (with a density higher than the main density of the melt) rush to the metal path wall and are pressed to it, and particles with a low specific gravity are displaced to the metal path axis, where the linear velocity is much lower and directly on the axis - is zero.
At the same time, the density of the total electric current in the electrically conductive melt near the wall of the metal path is much higher than that of the axis, and particles 6, which are non-conductive or low-conductivity impurities (gases, oxides), are displaced under the influence of electromagnetic currents into a region of reduced current density - to the axis of the metal path. Under the action of centrifugal forces, metal impurities (gallium, sodium, etc.) rush to the wall of the metal path, whose electrical conductivity is high, and they do not create any tangible resistance for the flow of electric current.
After the concentration of particles of 7 impurities at the wall of the metal path, and particles of 6 impurities on its axis, they are removed. The purified electrically conductive melt 3, which has an average density, is located along the radius of the metal path 2 in the range and freely passes through the metal path for further use.
There are no unified recommendations on the speed of rotation of the electrically conductive melt, the exact location of particles with high and low specific densities along the radius of the metal path, since they depend on the main density of the melt, the degree of cleaning required, the radius of the metal path, etc. However, as shown by testing the proposed method of electromagnetic refining on a physical model, using gallium as the modeling metal, when the rotation speed exceeds 600 rpm, impurities are separated with a specific density different from the basic density of the modeling metal along the metal path radius, as described above.
