Abstract
Description
The invention relates to analytical chemistry, in particular to visual control methods, can be used for the operational control of the acidity of refrigeration oils, including polyol ester or polyalkylene glycol oils for ozone-friendly refrigerant 134a.
[1]. Known indicator solutions for determining the acidity of refrigeration oils. [1] describes a method for determining the acidity of refrigeration oils of any color, according to which a sample of the test oil is mixed with an alkaline solution of a certain concentration, the solvent of which is colorless and insoluble in this oil (50% toluene, 49.5% isopropyl alcohol and 0.5% distilled water by volume). After mixing and settling, a phase separation of the oil and the solution occurs, and the use of a color indicator (phenolphthalein) allows you to determine the level of acidity of the oil in relation to a certain norm. When conducting operational tests of an indicator solution prepared according to the recipe [1] on oil samples HF12-16, HF22s-16, HFS-134, in the latter case, phase separation of the oil and solution does not occur, but a stable emulsion is formed, which delaminates after a few hours a change in the original color [1].
[2]. Also known is a composition for determining the acidity of freon oil containing toluene, potassium hydroxide, bromothymol blue, thymolphthalein, isopropyl alcohol [2].
A disadvantage of the known composition is the impossibility of using it under the same conditions for the operational control of the acidity of the polyol ether and polyalkylene glycol refrigeration oils working with ozone-safe refrigerant 134a.
For example, standard samples of HFS-134 oil with different levels of acidity (MPC - maximum permissible acidity and less, more than MPC) were acquired in all cases in a mixture with composition [2] colors of green in the range from green through light green to yellow green . In this case, after mixing, the intensity of the initially acquired color changes rapidly, within 1 - 3 minutes, which makes it difficult to carry out visual control in the field, especially since the color of the analyzed sample of refrigerant oil has a masking effect on the shade of the mixture during control.
The closest to the proposed composition is an indicator solution for the rapid determination of the acidity of refrigeration oils [3], containing, wt.%:
Toluene - 49.449 - 49.460
Potassium or sodium hydroxide. - 0.0312 - 0.0344
Phenol red (benzaurinsulfonic acid) - 0.1566 - 0.1768
Isopropyl alcohol - 49.94 - 50.078
The disadvantages of the known indicator solution is that it contains phenol red according to the formula C 19 H 14 O 5 S and requires special storage conditions, since in the light the color of a freshly prepared hermetically sealed solution changes from violet to raspberry within an hour. In addition, the method is not economical and voluminous for use in the field, as one analysis requires 43.8 cm 3 of the indicator solution and 16.5 cm 3 of the analyzed oil, which is four times the consumption of the indicator solution and oil compared to the declared invention.
The present invention eliminates the above disadvantages.
According to the invention, the indicator solution for the rapid determination of the acidity of refrigeration oils contains, wt.%:
Toluene - 46.375-51.491
Potassium hydroxide - 0.0018-0.0150
Ammonia salt of benzaurinsulfonic acid (phenol red water-soluble) - 0.0016-0.0028
Isopropyl alcohols - up to 100
The indicator solution according to this invention allows you to expand the range of analyzed refrigeration oils, to quickly monitor their acidity, including those working with ozone-safe freon 134a, and provides complete dissolution of the oil sample in the indicator solution, instantly establishing a stable color and contrast color changes of the indicator solution in the mixture with samples refrigeration oils.
An example implementation of the invention.
An indicator solution of the proposed component composition is prepared as follows. Prepare 0.02N. a solution of potassium hydroxide in isopropyl alcohol. The solution is prepared in an inert atmosphere, as potassium hydroxide vigorously absorbs carbon dioxide and water. The titer of a solution of potassium hydroxide in isopropyl alcohol in benzoic acid is determined. Then prepare a solution of phenol red water-soluble, dissolving 0.2 g of the indicator in 100 cm 3 of isopropyl alcohol, and a solvent for refrigeration oil, mixing equal volumes of isopropyl alcohol and taluene. The calculated amount of the solution of phenol red indicator in isopropyl alcohol is added to the solvent for cold oil and the calculated amount of potassium hydroxide solution in isopropyl alcohol is added, determined by the specified level of the maximum permissible acid concentration in this brand of refrigerated oil, its density and the number of test bottles. After mixing the entire volume of the acidity indicator solution, it is packaged in an inert atmosphere in test bottles with a capacity of 14 cm 3 , 10 cm 3 of indicator solution in each. After filling, the bottles are sealed.
Operational acidity control is carried out in the sequence: open the test bottle, add 3.5 cm 3 (to the "shoulders" of the test bottle) of the test refrigerant oil into it, close the test bottle with a stopper and mix its contents with vigorous shaking for 5 - 10 s then, according to the color of the mixture obtained, in comparison with the previously established color scale corresponding to the different colors of the mixture, depending on the acidity of standard samples of refrigeration oil with a calculated acid concentration, test acidity is determined x lodilnogo oil.
The table shows the results of operational monitoring of the acidity of refrigeration oils, including those working with ozone-safe freon 134a (
The ratios of components given in the
The results of the tests showed that the task is achieved in full (see table). The indicator solution prepared according to the invention (
