In the known technical solutions, the devices have a number of disadvantages, such as the complexity of the design, the need for the help of an assistant during the installation of the retainer.
The proposed technical solution is not known from the prior art from available sources of information.
The objective of the utility model is to create a simple orthodontic instrument for fixing the archwire (retainer) to the teeth without the help of an assistant, the ability to put the instrument on the lingual side of the patient's lower incisors and canines.
This problem is solved by the fact that the orthodontic instrument consists of working parts: two instrument heads and a handle (3). The tool heads are located on both sides of the handle. The handle (3), by which the doctor holds the entire instrument, is made of metal in the form of a cylinder with a diameter of up to 6 mm. For convenience, edges (4) are made on the handle (3) to prevent the tool from slipping in the hand. On both sides of the handle (3) there are tool heads. One is "straight" (1), the second is "at an angle to the tool handle" (2). The tool heads are integral with the handle and are not part of the tool. The head (1) of the tool consists of two guides, in which there is a cutout (5) 1 mm deep. The head (2) also consists of two guides with cutouts (5) 1 mm deep, differs from the head (1) in that this working part is located at an angle to the tool handle, bent relative to the head (1) by 360 degrees.
The purpose of this tool is to fix the orthodontic retainer during its installation. At the moment, many doctors first fix the dental floss between the teeth, then through it, its loops, thread the wire retainer, and only after that they begin to apply light material to the retainer and teeth. This tool allows the doctor to single-handedly fix the retainer, without the use of dental floss or other fixing elements. Fixation of the retention wire or a previously prepared retainer is carried out between the working (guide) parts of the instrument heads, after the treatment of the teeth. The guide parts, which have cutouts, hold the retainer on both sides, which does not interfere with its fixation. The main advantage of this tool is the presence of two guides. All analogues, for example, Tucker instruments, have only one guide and often it is located either in a straight direction or at a slight angle in the instrument handle, which makes it difficult to bring the instrument to the lingual side of the lower incisors and canines.
The work of the tool is to fix the arch (retainer) to the teeth. During installation, the retainer is pressed with the head of the instrument (not with threads, as orthodontists often do), and the work of an assistant is excluded. The orthodontist in one hand holds the instrument by the handle, like a writing pen, from the lingual side presses the wire retainer to the teeth in the middle of the height of the clinical crown. With the other hand, he applies the fixing material to the retainer and with the same hand illuminates the material with the second movement, while it is possible to continue to hold the retainer tightly against the teeth. The material is applied between the working parts of the tool head. The result of such fixation will be a more comfortable and quick fixation of the retainer, since the working part will be at an angle to the handle, the use of dental floss is not required. The working part that fixes the head retainer will be on both sides of the handle. One working part without an angular inclination, the other at an angle. The comfort lies in the fact that one tool replaces two. The tool can also be used by orthodontist assistants, if necessary.
The essence of the proposed device is illustrated by drawings.
