Abstract
Description
The invention relates to metallurgy, in particular to rolling production, provides for diffusion chromium plating of rolls made of bleached cast iron in order to increase their performance due to high heat resistance and wear resistance.
Under the corrosive action of the medium under cyclic stresses, at the bottom of the notches remaining after machining the working surface of the rolls, microcrack nuclei are formed. An increase in the intensification temperature during these processes leads to cracking of the surface layers. The application of galvanic chromium and chromium-nickel coatings increases the resistance to thermal fatigue. Along with the prevention of corrosion cracking, to increase the service life of cast iron rolls, it is necessary to have high surface hardness, which provides appropriate wear resistance. The hardness of electroplated coatings decreases sharply upon contact with heated metal.
A significant increase in the resistance to thermal fatigue and the wear resistance of cast iron rolls can be achieved by diffusion chromium plating and the use of such regimes in which stable carbide phases are formed in the surface layers.
The main difficulty of diffusion chromium plating of rolls with a bleached surface layer is the occurrence of graphitization during aging at high temperatures. Also, the susceptibility to chromium plating is significantly reduced by the presence of increased amounts of impurities in cast iron rolls, in particular phosphorus, leading to insufficient surface cleanliness and disruption of coating integrity. There are problems with the prevention of decarburization during chromium plating. In this connection, gas chromium plating, which gives good results on gray cast irons, is ineffective for white cast irons.
A known method of diffusion chromium plating of rolled rolls of bleached cast iron, as a means of protecting the surface from cracking during hot rolling. While chromium plating was carried out in a solid way by applying a galvanic coating with a thickness of 0.01 0.02 mm and subsequent 20 hours annealing at 700 950 o C, which can be taken as a prototype of the present invention. The carbide layer resulting from the diffusion of carbon to chromium prevents the surface of the rolls from being heated during operation. However, the disadvantage of this method is the inevitable occurrence of partial graphitization of the bleached layer during high-temperature processing, and even with a small amount of lamellar graphite, the heat resistance and hardness will be lower than in a graphite-free layer with the same carbide content. In addition, reliable protection against oxidation of the chromium layer is not provided, since electrolytic chromium has a significant number of surface cracks and, due to the penetration of oxygen, the adhesion of chromium to cast iron is insufficient. Therefore, in this way, it is possible to obtain only thin coatings of low quality, which does not ensure proper performance of the surface layer of the rolling rolls.
The elimination of these drawbacks is achieved by annealing rolls coated with electrolytic chromium in gaseous media, reducing the tendency of white cast irons to graphitization. Such means are hydrogen, dissociated ammonia and inert gases, which complicate the first and second stages of graphitization, contribute to the formation of free and bound complex carbides. Hydrogen, as well as dissociated ammonia, as the medium that inhibits graphitization and has a high reducing ability, is recommended for diffusion annealing of white cast irons. To increase the adhesion of the coating with a cast iron base, it is advisable to use gaseous media, in particular hydrogen, which reduces oxides at the contact boundary and accelerates diffusion processes. A high-quality coating is obtained using deeply purified and dried gas with a dew point of not higher than -50 o C, using the following modes: heating at a rate of 13 30 o C / h with a shutter speed lower than PSK by 10 30 o C and further heating to a temperature below the line ECF at 150 200 o C, slow cooling under a hood at a speed of 25 50 o C / h to a temperature of 650 700 o C and further cooling in air, below these temperatures you can blow the surface of the rolls with compressed air to accelerate the cooling process.
Rolls with a bleached surface used on sheet rolling mills of NLMK JSC have the following average chemical composition of 2.6C, 0.4 Si, 0.7 Mn, 0.4 P, 0.08 S, 0.7 Cr, 3, 8 Ni, 0.3 Mo. This composition of cast iron is convenient for chromium plating in that during the annealing process the cement does not decay for a long time, because contains chromium, molybdenum, and low silicon, and the high nickel content, which strongly delays the second stage of graphitization, allows the use of low-temperature chromium plating in the region of existence of cast iron with a bcc lattice. It is known that in ferrite, the chromium diffusion rate is two orders of magnitude higher than in austenite.
Based on the foregoing, a two-stage mode of diffusion chromium plating of the surface layer of rolls of bleached cast iron is proposed:
a) baking of electrolytic chromium at the highest possible ferrite existence temperatures (up to the PSK line) with holding in the low temperature region in order to prevent peeling of the coating due to equal thermal expansion coefficients of cast iron and chromium and to ensure chromium welding for a more intense diffusion volume.
В целях сокращения длительности процесса возможна неполная карбидизация хромового слоя, а ее завершение осуществляется при эксплуатации валков за счет воздействия высоких температур и напряжений.b) carbidization of the coating during slow heating in the austenitic region to a temperature of 950 980 o C. The upper temperature limit is limited by the possibility of graphitization, as well as fusion of phosphide eutectic. In order to reduce the duration of the process, incomplete carbidization of the chromium layer is possible, and its completion is carried out during the operation of the rolls due to exposure to high temperatures and stresses.
This two-stage mode allows you to get a high-quality coating of large thickness (0.02 0.2 mm). In the process of diffusion chromium plating, it is possible to significantly increase the wear resistance of the subsurface (subcarbide) layer in which complexly alloyed austenite is formed, containing up to 4% Ni, 0.35% Mo, and 5 20% Cr. Such a solid solution is highly resistant to decomposition and, upon further relatively slow cooling, turns into martensite. The length of this diffusion zone is 0.2 0.5 mm, depending on the chrome plating regimes and roll sizes, the structure of this layer is ledeburite cement and martensite.
The results of diffusion chromium plating are presented in FIG. 1 and 2, from which it is seen that after annealing in the electrolytic chromium layer, a carbide zone (1) was formed, the thickness of which is approximately 40% of the total thickness of the chromium layer. In this case, the heating was carried out at a speed of 25-30 o C / hour, at heating rates of 13 15 o C / hour, you can get almost completely carbidized layer. However, the presence of a small residual sintered chromium layer with high ductility contributes to a quick and smooth running-in of the roll surface and, if necessary, allows additional abrasive surface treatment with the required accuracy and cleanliness. Careful radiation of the structure shows that graphite inclusions are not observed in the bleached layer (Fig. 2). The applied high-temperature annealing during diffusion chromium plating has a positive effect on the structure of gray cast iron, which consists of the internal volume of the barrel and other roll elements, due to a decrease in the microliquation of silicon and increase chemical and physical homogeneity.
In FIG. Figure 3 shows the distribution of microhardness in the chrome zone and in the martensitic saline, from which it can be seen that the carbide layer up to 0.03 mm deep has a high microhardness of up to 20 GPa, the martensitic layer is up to 8 9 GPa at the initial microhardness of 6 GPa, i.e. diffusion chromium plating increases the surface microhardness by a factor of 2 3.
