Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular, to the complex processing of refractory ores containing iron, titanium, manganese and other valuable components, and can be used in the direct production of iron.
A known method of pyrometallurgical enrichment, [1] comprising mixing raw ore or substandard iron ore concentrate with a solid carbon reducing agent and reducing roasting of coal pellets, in which the metal beads are enlarged inside the slag matrix, and magnetic separation results in a highly metallized product suitable for use in steelmaking processes in powder metallurgy.
The main disadvantage of this method is the complexity of its implementation. During the firing process, a large amount of liquid slag phase is inevitably manifested, which makes it difficult to choose a unit in which the process can be carried out, the fusion of pellets into a complex conglomerate creates additional difficulties in grinding for subsequent magnetic separation.
A known method similar to the previous [2] which involves mixing the mixture, pelletizing, reduced calcination and separation of iron and slag by magnetic separation and characterized in that the process is carried out at a lower temperature than in the previous method in the absence of a liquid phase.
The disadvantage of this method is the lower iron recovery compared to previously discussed.
The closest to the invention in technical essence and the achieved result is a method of pyrometallurgical enrichment of iron-containing materials by obtaining a metallized product from reduced pellets [3] The method includes mixing the iron-containing material with a reducing agent, firing in a solid reduction layer at a temperature of 1100 - 1250 o C to the degree of reduction of iron 85-100% and then at a temperature of 1300-1500 o C prior to coagulation of the metal inside the pellet, pellet cooling and separation of the metallic phase of the two Leuna pellets obtained during the heat treatment, crushing and magnetic separation.
However, this method has the following disadvantages. It is applicable to iron ore materials with certain physicochemical properties (the melting point of the slag obtained after reduction firing is close to 1300-1500 o C, the mutual wetting of the metal and slag is close to absolute). The environment of each pellet with a solid reducing agent is difficult to achieve under industrial conditions.
The objective of the invention is to obtain metallized pellets with a structure that can efficiently extract iron into a highly metallized product during subsequent magnetic separation from any iron ore materials currently processed by traditional blast furnace redistribution (Kachkanar titanomagnetites, Bakal siderite), difficult to concentrate ilmenite and highly titanic ores (K Medvedevskoe deposits of titanomagnetites), off-balance substandard materials (red mud) regardless of temperature slag melting and wetting between metal and slag.
The problem is achieved in that in the method of pyrometallurgical enrichment of complex iron-containing materials by producing metallized pellets, including mixing them with a solid carbon reducing agent, forming ore-carbon pellets, firing the pellets in the shell, cooling, grinding and magnetic separation, according to the invention, are applied to raw ore-pellet pellets a shell of oxide material with a melting point of at least 1.1 the melting point of the most refractory phase of the core pheno- pellets, calcined them at a temperature equal to 0.65-0.85 of the melting point of iron, up to its full recovery and after recovery was heated to a temperature of the melting point 1.02 reduced metal phase. In the formation of a specific structure of pellets, the diameter of the particles of the shell material is 30-75% of the average diameter of the iron ore particles of the mixture.
The essence of the proposed method is as follows. In the process of reductive firing and subsequent heating to temperatures of 1.02 T pl of the reduced metal phase, several types of structure of metallized pellets are possible. Structure representing a chaotic of beads distribution of the metal in the pores of the slag phase formed in step recovery and retained in the pellet upon further heating to a melting point of the reduced metal, if the conditions: mp slag phase above the melting point of the reduced metal, and the heating rate is less than a certain value . If the heating rate exceeds a certain minimum (≈10 o C / min), the thermocapillary effect begins to appear, under the influence of which the kings of the reduced metal begin to move in the pores of the solid slag phase of the pellet, and the direction of motion of the melt is determined by the angle of wetting of the slag phase with the liquid metal.
If the contact angle is 0 <90 o , then the movement of the drops of the melt is directed to the center of the pellet. A structure is formed in which the concentration of metal kings increases toward the center and decreases in the surface layer of the pellet. Complete merging of the metal droplets into one crown does not occur, since part of the droplets of the molten metal is entangled in the pores of the solid slag phase.
If the T pl of the slag phase of the recovered pellet is lower than 1.02 T pl of the recovered metal phase, then when the pellet is heated to T pl of metal, depending on the wetting angle, exposure time, viscosity of the slag phase, it is possible to obtain pellets with a walnut structure representing a two-layer pellet with a metal core inside the liquid-mobile slag phase or due to the melting of the pellet, liquid slag and metal will separate.
To avoid disruption of the technological process due to the melting of the layer of pellets, a shell of oxide metal is rolled onto raw pellets with a melting point of at least 1.1 T pl of the most refractory phase of the core of the reduced pellets. Thus, it is possible to preserve the formed “walnut” structure in the pellet or to form the structure when two types of kings are inside the shell: metal and slag.
If the wetting angle is 0> 90 o , then the melt moves towards higher temperatures (from the center of the pellet), coalescence of the melt inside and on the surface of the pellet results in a tear-like structure representing a gamut of different-sized metal beads on the surface of the slag skeleton of the pellet. Some of the drops of the melt do not reach the surface of the pellet, as it entangles in the pores of the surface layer of the solid skeleton of the slag phase.
Since in the formed “tear” structure the metal metal kings on the surface of the pellet are loosely bound to the slag skeleton, metal losses and a decrease in the overall yield of metallized concentrate are possible. Rolling of the shell, the average particle diameter of the material of which is less than the average particle diameter of the iron ore part of the charge, leads to the formation of the structure of the pellet, which reduces metal loss. The dimensions of the resulting pores during the pelletizing of dispersed materials are directly proportional to the size of the particles, and the presence of a shell with smaller pore sizes will not allow relatively large drops of metal to seep through the shell. A pellet structure is formed in which the metal kings are located between the shell and the slag skeleton of the pellet. Due to the foregoing, during subsequent grinding of the pellets, a high degree of opening of the metal occurs, which ensures an increase in its extraction into the concentrate during magnetic separation.
In addition, the presence of a shell prevents the secondary oxidation of the reduced metal, which also allows to increase the yield of metallized concentrate.
The presence of a shell made of a material with smaller average particle sizes in comparison with the particle sizes of the pellet mixture makes it possible to retain metal droplets at the interface between the slag skeleton of the okashyt-shell. Reducing the particle size of the shell material less than 30% of the particle size of the mixture of pellets requires significant grinding costs. Exceeding the average particle size of the shell material over 75% of the average particle size of the pellet mixture leads to a partial formation of pores along which metal droplets reach the outer surface of the shell, which subsequently leads to metal loss.
Recovery firing, as the initial stage of structure formation, cannot be carried out at a temperature below 0.65 T pl of reduced iron, since the firing time is significantly increased, since reduction reactions involving solid carbon are fully developed at temperatures above 900 o C. at temperatures higher than the values 0,85 T mp reduced iron increases the energy consumption for the process and also leads to undesirable process of reduction of the oxides of other elements that anchor dit reduce the quality of metal concentrate and to decrease iron extraction.
After reconstitution firing, the pellets are heated to a temperature of 1.02 T pl of the reduced metal phase. Such heating provides the necessary temperature gradient over the cross section of the pellet. Heating below 1.02 T pl of the metal phase will not allow to provide the necessary temperature gradient along the cross section of the pellet and to form the desired structure.
From the analysis of patent and scientific and technical literature known methods for producing two-layer pellets.
In the known technical solution [4], when the structure is formed, the core of the pellet is an fluxer, onto which the ore shell is rolled, and then the obtained pellets are subjected to reinforcing oxidative roasting. The structure of such pellets ensures their strength during storage and transportation, while enrichment for metal does not occur.
According to the known method [5], the structure of bilayer oxidized pellets is formed in order to increase porosity, which ensures mass transfer reactions, in particular, the maximum degree of sulfur removal.
In contrast to the above in the claimed method, a two-layer structure of the pellet is formed in the form of a molten metal core and a knurled shell, increasing the surface and preserving the shape of the pellet. Such a structure is achieved due to the temperature regime, the reducing environment, and the ratio of the fineness of the core material and the shell. Thus, the goal of the claimed technical solution is completely different due to the increase in the degree of metallization and the creation of a certain structure to achieve, with subsequent magnetic separation, a higher extraction of metals into the finished product. Complete reduction of iron in the first stage and subsequent heating to certain temperatures allows you to expand the functionality of the method and extend it to a number of processed materials.
Examples of practical implementation of the proposed method.
Various iron-containing materials were taken as initial raw materials: Medvedev collective iron-titanium concentrate (Fe 53.1% TiO 2 18.0%), Kachkanar concentrate (Fe 62.5% TiO 2 - 2.61%), calcined siderite concentrate (Fe 50.34% MgO 12.53%), alumina production waste red mud (Fe 31.8% Al 2 O 3 - 12.8%). As a reducing agent, lean coal of the Krasnobrodskoye deposit, ground to a fineness of 0.1 mm in the amount necessary for the complete reduction of iron oxides to metal in a specific concentrate, was introduced into the charge before pelletizing. Pellets were prepared on a 1-meter plate granulator. Batch of raw pellets with a casing were obtained for all types of iron-containing materials.
Экспериментально установлено, что шлаковая фаза, образующаяся при выплавке железа из исследуемых концентратов имеет следующие температуры плавления: кусинский шлак более 1700oC, Медведевский 1550oC, качканарский 1380oC, сидеритовый более 1700oC, шлак из красных шламов 1380o C, а угол смачивания шлаковых фаз расплавом железа меньше 90o для кусинских и медведевских шлаков (шлаки на основе оксида магния).It was experimentally established that the slag phase formed during the smelting of iron from the studied concentrates has the following melting points: Kusinsky slag more than 1700 o C, Medvedevsky 1550 o C, Kachkan slag 1380 o C, siderite more than 1700 o C, red mud slag 1380 o C, and the wetting angle of the slag phases with molten iron is less than 90 o for Kusinsky and Medvedev slags (magnesium oxide-based slags).
Taking into account the experimental data given above, the shell on raw pellets from Medvedev and Kachkanar concentrates was rolled from the crushed tailings of the magnetic separation of metallized pellets from Kusinsky concentrate. A shell obtained from sludge smelted in the reduction and separation melting of siderites in a Tamman furnace and then crushed was rolled onto raw pellets of red mud. The shell thickness was 1.5-2.0 mm.
A shell obtained from sludge smelted in the reduction and separation melting of siderites in a Tamman furnace was rolled onto raw pellets from siderite concentrates. The slag was ground to a particle size of 0.1-0.0 mm and a fraction of 0.063 mm was sieved. This fraction was rolled onto raw pellets from siderite concentrate (the size of the iron ore charge material was 0.2-0.0 mm). The shell thickness was 1 mm.
2.Pellets were fired at an experimental bench for modeling pellet firing processes in the semi-factory building of the Institute of Metallurgy of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The height of the pellet layer was 100 mm. Depending on the type of concentrate, regenerative calcination was carried out at a temperature of 1000-1300 o C with a holding time of 10-20 minutes. The temperature-time parameters of reduction firing for specific concentrates were determined during preliminary experiments. Then the pellets were heated at a speed of 50-75 o C per minute to a temperature of 1570 o C and cooled in a flue gas stream. Metallized pellets were crushed and subjected to magnetic separation with the release of a metal phase (metallized concentrate) and slag (tails). The results of the experiments are shown in tables 1 and 2.
(95-98%). From the results presented in table 1, it follows that the selected parameters of regenerative firing allow to obtain pellets with a very high degree of metallization (95-98%).
2).Heating of the pellets in the shell to temperatures above T pl of reduced iron makes it possible to obtain metallized pellets with structures suitable for magnetic separation for all concentrates. The extraction of iron in a metallized concentrate from pellets of various iron-containing materials is 9.9-13.1% higher compared to the known method (table. 2).
The results of magnetic separation show that from the pellets according to the claimed method, not only high-quality metallized concentrates with a high rate of iron recovery are obtained, but in the case of titanomagnetite concentrates, tails with a conditional content of titanium dioxide are obtained for the production of titanium pigment. They are 19.2-24.1% richer in titanium dioxide and 11.5-16.75% poorer in iron in comparison with those obtained by the known method [6], which is very important from the point of view of their further hydrochemical processing, since process flows are reduced, TiO 2 extraction is increased, the output of iron sulfate, which is a harmful waste from production, is reduced.
The application of the proposed method allows to put into operation huge reserves of titanomagnetite ores, which are uneconomical to be processed by traditional methods, organize their waste-free utilization, refuse to import raw materials for the pigment industry from abroad, expand the ore base of ferrous (siderite) and non-ferrous (red sludge) metallurgy, sharply reduce environmental poisoning by harmful industrial waste.
