Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to non-catalyst methods for producing methyl chloride by reacting hydrogen chloride with methyl alcohol in the liquid phase and can be used in the chemical industry.
(100oC-200oC).Known methods for producing methyl chloride in the liquid phase without the use of a catalyst. So, for example, a method for producing methyl chloride is known, according to which the process is carried out in a capacitive reactor operating under pressure up to 3 atm when heated, with an excess of one of the starting components, with the implementation of recycling of the reaction mixture both in the main reactor and in auxiliary equipment , which complicates the technological scheme and process control. In addition, the full mixing reactor does not provide effective separation of the gas and liquid phases, which causes the need for additional equipment and causes high energy costs [1]
A known method of producing alkyl chlorides, in which the process is carried out in a column-type apparatus at high pressures (up to 27 atm) in excess of hydrogen chloride with the feed of the starting reagents into the column by direct flow and recycling of the reaction mixture, which leads to the need for special equipment and increased energy costs [2 ]
The closest in technical essence to the proposed solution is a method of producing methyl chloride, in which the process is carried out in a column equipped with contact elements [3]
The production of methyl chloride is carried out by liquid-phase interaction of hydrogen chloride with methyl alcohol in the absence of a catalyst with the formation in the reaction zone of the organic and aqueous components of the reaction mixture and the separation of methyl chloride from the organic component. In this case, the supply of the starting components is carried out by direct flow, and the process is conducted at high pressure (up to 10 atm); the use of excess amounts of methyl alcohol (from 20% to 200%) can increase the degree of conversion of hydrogen chloride from 70% to 95% of the process is carried out with heating (100 o C-200 o C).
The disadvantages of this method are as follows. The use of excess amounts of methyl alcohol leads to the need for liquid phase recycles, which, along with the implementation of the main process at elevated temperature and pressure, leads to increased energy costs and complicates the selection and operation of the main technological equipment; in addition, excess alcohol leads to the formation of dimethyl ether polluting methyl chloride.
An object of the invention is to increase the conversion of hydrogen chloride, lowering the temperature and pressure of the process of producing methyl chloride.
This result is achieved by the fact that the method of producing methyl chloride is carried out by reacting hydrogen chloride with methyl alcohol in the absence of a catalyst with the formation in the reaction zone of the organic and aqueous components of the reaction mixture and the separation of methyl chloride from the organic component, moreover, hydrogen chloride and methyl alcohol are fed countercurrently and aqueous the component is continuously withdrawn from the reaction zone; in addition, it is possible to carry out salt rectification of the aqueous component with aqueous solutions of metal chlorides with the release of hydrogen chloride, which is returned to the reaction zone, while the supply of hydrogen chloride and methyl alcohol is carried out in a stoichiometric ratio.
The method is as follows. Hydrogen chloride in a gaseous state is fed into the lower part of the synthesis reactor (Fig. 1), and liquid methyl alcohol in its upper part. As a result of countercurrent interaction of the starting reagents, methyl chloride and water are formed. Methyl chloride is removed from the upper part of the reactor and sent to a condensation system, where methanol vapors are trapped, then returning them to the synthesis for synthesis. Water with hydrogen chloride dissolved in it moves down the reactor, as it accumulates, it is removed from the heating cube in the form of hydrochloric acid with a concentration of hydrogen chloride close to 20% wt. The temperature in the cube was 108 o C-110 o C, and the temperature along the height of the reactor varied from 50 o C to 90 o C. The water formed in the synthesis of methyl chloride slows down the interaction of the starting reagents and binds part of the hydrogen chloride in the reaction zone. Therefore, it is advisable to separate the reaction mixture into organic and aqueous components with a continuous withdrawal of the latter from the synthesis zone.
For the process of producing methyl chloride, a distillation column can be used as a reactor (see drawing).
The method provides for the possibility of feeding into the lower part of the reactor aqueous solutions of metal chlorides, for example, calcium or magnesium chlorides, for carrying out the process of saline rectification of hydrochloric acid. The hydrogen chloride released in this case moves up the reactor and, together with the main stream, participates in the synthesis, which makes it possible to increase the conversion of hydrogen chloride from 88.9% to 99.3% and to supply the starting components in a stoichiometric ratio. As a result of this, the probability of dimethyl ether formation is significantly reduced. The spent metal chloride solution is removed from the cube-heater and sent for regeneration by known methods, after which the solution is returned to the process. The temperature in the cube in this case is 120 o C-130 o C, and in the reactor 60 o C-110 o C. The pressure in the reactor is determined by the resistance of the system and does not exceed 1.15 atm.
Thus, in the proposed method, the countercurrent reaction of methyl alcohol and hydrogen chloride with the simultaneous continuous removal of the water formed in the synthesis from the reaction zone made it possible to increase the conversion of hydrogen chloride, reduce the temperature and pressure of the synthesis.
