Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the processing of metals by pressure, in particular to hot and cold processing of metal in the manufacture of railway solid-rolled wheels.
It is known that railway wheels containing a rim, a disk and a hub are made by hot deformation of the workpieces in several transitions, the final of which is the bending of the disk and calibration of the rim [1] In this case, the rim is deposited along the width to give its lateral surfaces a plane-parallel appearance [2] Then, after cooling, the wheel rim is machined along the tread surface and side to ensure a plane-parallel view of the side surfaces and their perpendicularity to the wheel axis [3] During the subsequent thermal brabotki formed such defect as the collapse of the rim.
0,3o).As a prototype adopted a known method of manufacturing products such as wheel pulleys [3] which includes calibration of the rim, disk and hub, mechanical and heat treatment. In this case, the lateral surfaces of the rim are first formed at an angle to each other, and then, when calibrated, these surfaces are deposited to obtain the desired size along the width of the rim and give these surfaces a plane-parallel appearance. During the machining of the rim, the parallelism of its lateral surfaces together with their perpendicularity to the wheel axis is maintained. In the process of hardening the rim, a defect such as the collapse of the rim of the side surface on the inside due to a change in the volume of the metal due to the increased supply of cooling water from this side is formed. In the finished product (wheel), the side surfaces of the rim are inclined to each other at an angle α 0.5-1.0 o . The camber K "is greater than 1.0 mm, which is not allowed by GOST 9036-88 on solid-rolled wheels (camber and undercuts are not more than 0.5 mm or the angle of inclination of the side surface is not more than 0.3 o ).
The purpose of this method is to obtain in the finished wheels after their heat treatment the parallelism of the side surfaces of the rim with each other and their perpendicularity to the axis of the wheel.
This problem is solved due to the fact that in the method of manufacturing railway wheels, including forming the rim by rolling, calibrating the rim in width to obtain parallel side surfaces, perpendicular to the axis of the wheel, mechanical and heat treatment, machining of the rim is carried out to obtain a side surface with an inner sides at an angle to the side surface of the rim from the outside, and at the stage of heat treatment, the rim is finally formed to ensure parallelism between its lateral surfaces and their perpendicularity to the axis of the wheel by exposure to thermal stresses during hardening.
In FIG. 1 shows the rim before machining (position 1, solid line) and after machining (position 2, dashed line). Here are also indicated: 3 rolling surface, 4 lateral surface of the rim from the outside, 5 lateral surface of the rim from the inside. Figure 2 is a graph of the distribution of undercuts after using this method.
The method is as follows.
The hot rolled wheel undergoes a calibration in which the rim is deposited in width to make its lateral surfaces parallel and perpendicular to their wheel axis. After cooling the wheels to a temperature of no higher than 30 o C, they are machined, in which the side surface 5 (Fig. 1) of the rim is machined from the inside (line AC) at an angle a to the side surface 4 from the outside with undercutting K 1 , equal to 0.7-1.2 mm (intermediate rim shape). In the process of subsequent heat treatment, by increasing the specific consumption of cooling water (compared to other elements), the rim is finally shaped by thermal stresses, when quenching, the side surface (AC line) is parallel to the side surface 4 (AC line coincides with AB line). Moreover, the angle a is close to zero and the undercut K 1 does not exceed 0.5 mm, permissible by GOST.
Example. In the manufacture of wagon wheels with a diameter of 957 mm according to GOST 9036-88, after rolling on a rolling mill with a rim width of 141 mm on a bending press with a force of 3000 tf, we calibrated the rim along its lateral surfaces to a width of 132 mm by upper and lower plane-parallel plates. In this case, the lateral surfaces of the rim after the upset were parallel to each other, and their planes were perpendicular to the axis of the wheel. After cooling in air, the rim was machined, and the side surface from the inside was machined at an angle of 7.7 ° to ensure an undercut value of K 1 = 0.95 mm. During subsequent hardening, this surface, with a specific cooling water consumption increased by 10% than on other surfaces of the rim, was exposed to thermal stresses parallel to the side surface of the rim from the outside and perpendicular to the wheel axis. The angle of inclination of the side surface of the rim from the inside was close to zero, and the undercut K 1 was 0.1 mm, which is less than the permissible GOST value of 0.5 mm.
The results of experimental studies on several wheel trunks are shown in the graph of FIG. 2, which shows that more than 90% of the wheels have an undercut value of not more than 0.1 mm.
