Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of technology for producing chalcogenides, in particular zinc sulfide, as well as zinc selenide coated with zinc sulfide, suitable for the manufacture of optical ceramics (OK) transparent in the spectral range from 1 to 12 microns.
A known method of producing polycrystalline blocks for OC from zinc and cadmium chalcogenides by high-temperature vacuum sublimation of the initial chalcogenide powder [1]
The method consists in evaporating the starting powder of zinc or cadmium chalcogenide placed at the bottom of the sublimation device. Chalcogenide vapors formed during heating, passing the purification stage, are deposited on the cooler lid of the device, which serves as a substrate. In this case, a polycrystalline layer (block) grows, having a density close to the density of a single crystal of the corresponding compound.
Such blocks after machining have good transparency in the range from visible to infrared and are used as optical material. Optical products from polycrystalline zinc selenide obtained by this method have good transmission in the range from 0.5 to 20 μm and are used in the manufacture of windows for IR devices.
Существенным недостатком этого материала является низкая эрозионная стойкость, определяющаяся небольшой поверхностной твердостью (130 кг/мм2 по Кнупу).A significant drawback of this material is its low erosion resistance, which is determined by its low surface hardness (130 kg / mm 2 according to Knoop).
2.Foreign companies receive optical products from chalcogenides using the CVD method, i.e. vapor deposition method [2] In this method, chalcogen and metal vapors obtained by evaporation of the initial components separately are mixed in certain proportions and deposited on a heated substrate. In this way, more erosion-resistant materials from zinc sulfide, as well as two-layer ZnSe-ZnS materials with a hardness of up to 250 kg / mm 2 , are obtained.
However, this method, in comparison with the one described in [1], is very complicated in hardware design, in addition, the continuous process of obtaining a block lasts several weeks, because the growth rate of chalcogenide is very low.
The objective of the invention is to develop a method for producing a polycrystalline material based on zinc chalcogenides with increased erosion resistance.
наиболее близким техническим решением к заявленному является способ получения поликристаллических блоков халькогенидов цинка методом вакуумной сублимации [1] Этот метод был нами использован как для получения блоков из сульфида цинка, так и для выращивания пленочных покрытий из сульфида цинка на готовые оптические изделия из селенида цинка. the closest technical solution to the claimed one is a method for producing polycrystalline blocks of zinc chalcogenides by vacuum sublimation [1] We used this method both for producing blocks of zinc sulfide and for growing film coatings of zinc sulfide on finished optical products from zinc selenide.
The problem is achieved by introducing gallium impurities into zinc sulfide. For this, gallium (or its compounds) is introduced into the starting zinc sulfide in a concentration of 2 to 10% by weight.
During the evaporation of chalcogenide (sublimation), gallium is transferred together with zinc sulfide vapors, and precipitating on a substrate forms a ZnS • Ga solid solution. An admixture of gallium in the lattice of polycrystalline zinc sulfide causes an increase in the hardness (erosion resistance) of the optical material in comparison with undoped zinc sulfide.
2. The dependence of the hardness of the obtained product from the initial concentration of gallium is shown in tables 1 and 2.
Example 1. Obtaining polycrystalline blocks of zinc sulfide doped with gallium.
The initial mixture of powdered zinc sulfide with gallium impurity (2% weight) is placed in a special container of мм80 mm pyrographite, closed with a lid and placed in a chamber of a high-temperature vacuum furnace. The camera is pumped to a pressure of 10 -2 mm RT.article. and heated so that the bottom of the container (evaporator) has a temperature of 1000 o C, and the lid (substrate) temperature of 900 o C. The process is carried out in dynamic vacuum for 40 hours.
2.a gallium-doped polycrystalline block of zinc sulfide up to 30 mm thick grows on the lid of the container, which serves as a deposition substrate. The block has a density close to theoretical. The hardness of such a material, measured by a microhardness tester, is 400 kg / mm 2 ; while unalloyed zinc sulfide, it is equal to 300 kg / mm 2 .
Example 2. The deposition of a film coating of zinc sulfide doped with gallium on optical products from zinc selenide.
950oC.An article of zinc selenide with a polished surface comes out and placed in the container described in Section 1, so that this surface serves as a substrate for the deposition of a layer of zinc sulfide. A mixture of powdered zinc sulfide with gallium (5% weight) is placed in the lower part of the container. The chamber of the vacuum furnace with the container is pumped out to a pressure of 10 -2 mm Hg. and heated so that the lid had a temperature of 850 o C, and the bottom 950 o C.
2.The process is carried out in a dynamic vacuum for 10 hours. As a result, a dense layer of zinc sulfide up to 0.2 mm thick having a hardness of about 300 kg / mm 2 is deposited on the surface of the product from zinc selenide.
Thus, it can be seen from the above examples that there is a significant increase in the hardness of zinc sulfide obtained by vacuum sublimation from a mixture of zinc sulfide and gallium, which improves the erosive properties of the optical elements made from it, compared with the zinc selenide currently in use.
