Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of controlling the supply of fuel to an internal combustion engine (ICE). It can be used in power systems of automobile, aviation, ship and other multi-cylinder high-speed ICEs with central injection of gaseous or liquid fuel.
Known systems of central fuel injection in the internal combustion engine (US patent N 4718383, CL F 02 M 7/00, 1988; UK application N 1556998, CL F 02 M 51/02, 1988). But as a prototype, it is advisable to consider the BOSCH central fuel injection system presented at the international congress and exhibition in Detroit, Michigan in February 1987, as well as at the international exhibition in Moscow in 1989. This system contains an engine speed sensor, a throttle angle sensor, and other sensors connected to an electronic control unit, the output of which through an amplifier is connected to a central fuel metering device, made using an electromagnetic nozzle valve.
The central injection method implemented in the indicated systems is based on time-pulse fuel metering with precision fast-acting nozzle valves in a very short time interval determined by the duration of the suction stroke in one cylinder at maximum engine speeds.
Therefore, these systems cannot provide central fuel injection with a significant increase in the power of the internal combustion engine, which can be achieved, for example, by a combination of the following parameters: an increase in the number of internal combustion engine cylinders (for example, more than 8); increase in maximum engine crankshaft revolutions (for example, more than 10,000 rpm); an increase in the total volume of ICE cylinders (for example, more than 10 liters).
These systems cannot also provide central injection of gaseous fuel into the internal combustion engine.
The reason for the limited capabilities of existing central injection systems is that with an increase in the number of ICE cylinders, their total volume, with an increase in the maximum speed of the ICE and its power, the temporal, volumetric, throughput, resource-reliable, structural, technological, electromagnetic and operational requirements are very tightened presented to the central fuel metering device, in particular to the precision nozzle valves used therein. Moreover, for gaseous fuels, the tightening of these requirements is faster than for liquid fuels.
With the above-mentioned (specified for example) ICE parameters in existing dispensers, the valve-nozzle for central injection of liquid, and even more so gaseous fuel, can hardly be realized, since in this case the electromagnetic valve-nozzle should have been guaranteed to be provided at a higher productivity, the time of one full cycle of fuel injection (opening, dosing, closing) in the maximum power mode of the internal combustion engine is less than 1.5 ms, and in the idle mode of the internal combustion engine is less than 0.4 ms, which is practically impossible.
The objective of the invention are: providing the possibility of implementing a central injection system of gaseous (as well as liquid) fuel under pressure in an internal combustion engine of any required power, with any given number of cylinders, with any total cylinder volume, with any maximum crankshaft speed while maintaining all the positive qualities inherent fuel injection systems with high precision fuel metering, high fuel economy and meeting the requirements of modern environmental standards for internal combustion engines; a significant simplification of the requirements for temporary and space-passed parameters of the fuel valves (TC) used in the central fuel dispenser; increasing the life of the central fuel dispenser, increasing the operational reliability of the central injection system as a whole.
The problem is solved in that in the method of central injection of gaseous or liquid fuel, which includes time-pulse dosing of fuel in the ICE power supply system, which maintains the fuel pressure at the inlet of the central dispenser containing N fuel valves, the electronic control unit is linked to synchronizing pulses from the engine speed sensor each fuel valve with an individual sequence of opening pulses, each of the N fuel valves with a signal on a separate circuit from the electronic about the control unit periodically open for a period of fuel metering, not exceeding the sum of N periods of the maximum possible pulse repetition rate from the engine speed sensor, injecting during the opening of one fuel valve 1 / N the proportion of the quantity of fuel dosed for this engine operation mode, while the opening of each fuel valve is repeated periodically with a frequency N times lower than the pulse repetition rate from the engine speed sensor, and the phases of the moments of the start of opening of the individual fuel valves Anans relative to each other are uniformly shifted cyclically in time by the value of the current interval between two adjacent pulses of the engine speed sensor. The impulses from the engine speed sensor are pulses from the engine ignition system.
Figure 1 presents a functional diagram of a central fuel injection system in an internal combustion engine; in FIG. 2 shows time diagrams explaining its operation.
6. The internal combustion engine 1 power supply system that implements the proposed method of central fuel injection comprises a fuel path, which includes a fuel tank 2 connected in series, a fuel filter 3, a fuel main valve 4, a constant fuel pressure supply device 5, a central fuel dispenser 6 (DTC), a mixer 7 fuel with air coming from the air metering unit 8. The electronic control unit 10 (ECU) receives information from the sensor 11 of the pulses of the ignition system (speed sensor), as well as from other sensors 12 of the internal combustion engine. The ECU 10 individually controls individual circuits 13 with the frequency, duration and phase of the opening of each metering TC 14, 15, 16 in the central heating station 6.
In MDC 6, several (N) structurally simple slow-acting TCs 14, 15, 16 are installed, the total performance of which and the sequence of work according to the algorithm described below can provide any multi-cylinder ICE with the required quantity and quality of the fuel mixture in the range of the entire crankshaft speed and load range.
In accordance with this algorithm, each TC and the central heating center must be fully opened by a pulse from the computer for a period of fuel dosing that does not exceed the sum of N periods of the maximum possible pulse repetition rate from the internal combustion engine ignition system. By choosing the number N large enough, it is possible to provide large easily realizable times of opening, fully open state, and closing of TCs of the simplest design.
The ECU 10 provides individually, in a separate circuit, each TC in the central heating station 6 with a sequence of identical in amplitude and duration of the
The indicated individual pulse sequences for each TC in the central heating center are cyclically phase-shifted relative to each other by the value of the current interval between two adjacent ignition pulses in the entire range of engine revolutions.
If there is N TC in the central heating center, each of them will commute 1 / N of the proportion of fuel dosed for this mode of ICE, which allows N times to reduce the cross-sectional area of the nozzle hole in each individual TC and in times reduce the stroke of its movable element. This ensures a decrease in the opening and closing times of the fuel cell, which is most significant when dosing gaseous fuel.
Large allowable opening and closing times of the TC reduce the acceleration and speed of movement of the moving parts of the TC, shock loads in it. As a result, the wear and tear of the fuel cell is reduced, and its service life and reliability are increased. There is the possibility of using less scarce materials in the design of the fuel cell, the possibility of simplifying the design of the central heating station and its manufacturing technology, reducing the power necessary to ensure the operation of one fuel cell. All this leads to an increase in the operational reliability of the central fuel injection system as a whole.
As an example, we consider a possible embodiment of a central gaseous fuel injection device for a four-cylinder internal combustion engine with a maximum speed of 6000 rpm. In this case, the maximum pulse repetition rate is 200 cps. Accordingly, the minimum period between two adjacent pulses is 5 ms. We will ask some initial data.
Suppose that a dosing TC is easily realized with an opening time of 3 ms and a closing time of 3 ms too. We also assume that the amount of fuel injected by one TC during the total time it opens and closes (6 ms) is equal to the amount of fuel injected by a fully open TC within 3 ms and is sufficient to ensure dosing in idle mode.
4. Suppose that the ratio between the maximum and minimum injected doses of fuel (at full load and at idle, respectively) per one cycle of operation of one ICE cylinder is 4.
Then, in the maximum load mode of the internal combustion engine, the opening time of the fuel cell should be equal to 3 ms x 4 12 ms.
Given the initial data, the interval of one cycle of the TC operation, ensuring the operation of the internal combustion engine in the entire range of modes, should be at least 12 ms + 3 ms 15 ms.
Here, the second term is the closing time of the TC. Therefore, we take the interval of one cycle of operation of one TC equal to 15 ms.
To determine the number N, it is necessary to divide this time interval into the period of the maximum possible pulse repetition rate
N 15 ms 5 ms 3
Thus, in our example, the MDT should contain three simple dosing TCs. At the same time, 1/3 of the amount of fuel necessary for the operation of the internal combustion engine will pass through the cross-sectional area of the nozzle hole of each fuel cell.
The operation of a four-cylinder internal combustion engine with a three-valve DTC is illustrated by the timing diagrams shown in FIG. 2 for a speed of 6,000 rpm with a partially open air damper. The figure shows: a sequence of 17 ignition pulses with a period equal to 5 ms; phases of three cyclically shifted sequences of
