Abstract
Description
The invention relates to methods for coating by spraying, in particular, to spraying powder materials and can be used to restore products, in particular, worn surfaces of contact wires of electrified vehicles.
A known method of plasma spraying of powder materials to create hardening coatings on the friction surfaces of parts (see S.N. Polevoy, V.D. Evdokimov "Hardening of metals", M. 1986, p.257). This method was also used to restore parts, including contact wires. The disadvantages of the method include its high cost, complexity and massiveness of the installation, which prevents its use in the field, the use of the method leads to intense heating of the wires, which contributes to their softening. The relatively low deposition rate during plasma spraying led to the fact that the maximum layer thickness obtained on the contact wires was only 0.8 mm. The minimum thickness of the reconstructed layer of contact wires must be at least 1 1.5 mm.
The closest method to the proposed one is a method for producing coatings, comprising accelerating a powder with a particle size of 1,200 μm in a stream of unheated carrier gas to speeds of 650 to 1200 m / s and applying it on the surface of the product (see Aut. St. USSR N 1618778, p 23 since 4/00, 1986). The method is simple, economical, high-performance, however, the coating has low adhesion.
The method according to the invention allows to improve the adhesion of the coating.
The invention consists in the following. The powder accelerates to supersonic speeds. The carrier gas is heated, for which (from the point of view of aerodynamics) it is better to use the lightest gases, for example, helium. However, the most affordable and cheapest gases can be used: air or water vapor. As a powder, you can use monometallic powder, powder alloys or a mixture of powders obtained in one way or another. The composition of the powder is determined not by technological, but by operational requirements. The temperature of the carrier gas is determined by the melting temperature of the low-melting powder components. It, depending on the composition, amount of the low-melting component and the type in which it is present in the powder, can range from 0.3 to 0.9 of its melting point. At temperatures below 0.3 melting points there is a sharp decrease in the adhesion of the powder to the wire, and at temperatures above 0.9 temperatures due to the intense melting of the powder, it intensively adheres to the walls of the pipeline and nozzles, which leads to clogging of the latter and the cessation of sputtering, as well as the risk of softening wires. The temperature of the carrier gas also depends on the carrier gas itself. So if you use light gases, such as helium, as the last, then you can not warm it.
The application scheme is as follows: a carrier gas under pressure (either a compressor or cylinders with compressed gas is used for this) is supplied to the gas pipeline, passes through the heater, then it passes the batcher, from which powder is supplied to the gas stream, then a gas-powder mixture, passing through the nozzle accelerates to supersonic speeds and is fed to the surface of the restored part. The part can be preheated with the same carrier gas without feeding powder or in another way.
Preheating with a carrier gas without powder can be used as an independent operation, for example, to activate a surface.
The powder is fed at an angle of 50 to 85 o to the surface. When applied at an angle of more than 85 o the adhesion of the applied layer with the coating is reduced by about 5 times. When applied at an angle of less than 50 o most of the powder flies away, not clinging to the surface.
Various compositions were tested as a powder mixture, corresponding in their chemical composition to various brasses and bronzes, alloys based on intermetallic compounds, for example Ni, Al, pure copper powder, a mixture of copper powders with zinc, aluminum, iron or one of such components. To obtain an antifriction layer of plain bearings, a mixture of aluminum and lead powders was used.
For coating, any standard compressor with a pressure of 6 atmospheres and the corresponding air flow rate and an electric power source up to 50 kW can be used.
An example of a specific implementation.
The method according to the invention was used to restore a worn copper contact wire of an electrified railway. The powder consisted of a mixture of copper and zinc powders (zinc content was 10-30%). This amount of zinc is optimal for obtaining the necessary wear resistance, electrical and mechanical properties for the wires, although the invention is feasible with a different content of not only zinc, but also other elements. The optimum heating temperature of the carrier gas was in the range of 300 360 o C (the melting point of zinc is 420 o C). At a temperature of 140 o C (0.3 Tm), the adhesion strength reached 7 MPa, and at a temperature of 400 o C there was an intensive sticking of zinc on the walls of pipelines and nozzles. When applying a

1 The method is simple, cheap and lack of need for capital costs. To restore the contact wires without dismantling them, the method is attractive in that the motor rail is equipped with a 6 at. Compressor. with the necessary air consumption, an electric power source of 50 kW, and also the fact that, unlike other methods, there is no intense heating of the contact wire during application, which can lead to annealing of the latter.
