Abstract
Description
д. The invention relates to the field of catalytic purification of air from oxygen-containing impurities, such as ozone, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, etc. Can be used in devices of air conditioning systems, in particular for removing ozone from air supplied to the aircraft cockpit, for cleaning industrial exhaust gases production, decomposition of residual ozone in technological processes of water ozonation, etc.
A known catalyst for the decomposition of ozone and other oxygen-containing impurities, which is activated carbon with manganese dioxide deposited on its surface [1]
The hopcalite catalyst based on activated manganese dioxide has a high catalytic activity in the decomposition of ozone and oxygen-containing gases [2] either used in bulk or fixed in a crushed state on the support matrix by gluing.
A known method of preparing a catalyst with manganese dioxide by coating a carrier of metal, glass, ceramics with the active component [3]
The disadvantage of the mentioned catalyst is a decrease in the efficiency of gas purification with an increase in gas-dynamic loads due to abrasion of the catalyst, entrainment of the active phase. An increase in the height of the catalyst bed entails a sharp increase in hydraulic resistance. Another disadvantage of these catalysts is the need for devices, fixed catalyst layer, dust filters.
The closest in technical essence to the invention is a catalyst based on manganese dioxide, obtained by depositing it on a substrate of a porous heat-resistant material, such as polyamide, phenolic polyamide, etc. [4] The disadvantages are found to be the same as for analogues: low mechanical strength of the catalyst, a sharp increase in hydraulic resistance and a decrease in cleaning efficiency with increasing speed of the cleaned air.
The essence of the invention consists in increasing the efficiency of a catalyst based on manganese dioxide by increasing permeability, strength, heat resistance. This is achieved by the fact that the catalyst additionally contains titanium and titanium dioxide in the following ratio of components: manganese dioxide 5-15 wt. titanium dioxide not more than 0.05 wt. titanium rest. The catalyst is made in the form of a cup, the walls and bottom of which are pressed from titanium particles of size 0.2 1.6 mm,
Comparative analysis with the prototype allows us to conclude that the inventive catalyst differs from the known one in that a manganese dioxide carrier used is compressed from titanium particles 0.2-1.6 mm in size to a porosity of 15-65% with a layer of 1-10 mm porous filter element (base) formed in the cup-shaped pipe, plate, rod, hemispheres, and sintered at a temperature of 1100-1200 ° C, and manganese dioxide known catalyst deposited on the surface and in the pores of the bases and generally forms marganetstitanovy catalyst, and this is due th significant difference from the previously stated catalysts, it provides mechanical strength and thus a higher efficiency at higher specific speeds of purified gas.
Thus, the claimed catalyst meets the criteria of the invention of "novelty."
Analysis of other known methods for producing catalysts and catalyst compositions used for purifying air from oxygen-containing impurities, including ozone, showed that manganese dioxide is used in granular form or as a supported catalyst on an inert carrier, which is not an integral part of the active phase ( alumina, polymers), however, their use on granular ceramic or polymer carriers does not provide the catalyst with the properties that it possesses in combination with porous titanium the second carrier, made by pressing and subsequent sintering at a temperature of 1100-1200 about With titanium particles with a size of 0.2-1.6 mm to a porosity of 15-65 about. a layer 1-10 mm thick, made in the form of a glass, pipes, plates, etc., and manganese dioxide is deposited on the surface of the sintered particles and in the pores of the base.
Figure 1 shows the dependence of the degree of conversion of ozone in an ozone-air mixture containing 100 ppm of ozone on the temperature of the mixture being cleaned at a different ratio of components in the catalyst composition. As can be seen from the curves shown in Fig. 1, a catalyst containing 15 manganese dioxide almost completely decomposes ozone in air at room temperature and above,
The inventive catalyst was prepared as follows: particles of titanium of a certain size or a mixture of particles of different sizes in the range from 0.2 to 1.6 mm were mixed, loaded into a mold of the desired configuration, compacted and pressed to a porosity of 15-65 vol. a thickness of 2-6 mm, and then sintered at a melting point of titanium of 1100-1200 about C. On the surface of the sintered particles were deposited manganese dioxide in an amount of from 5 to 15 wt. by immersion in a solution containing 50 wt. manganese nitrate at a temperature of 50-70 ° C was held for 0.5-1 hours at each immersion followed by drying in air and thermal treatment at a temperature of 300 ° C in a vacuum oven for 2.5-3 hours, i.e. for a time sufficient to completely remove the decomposition products of salt. An increase in the content of manganese dioxide was achieved by multiple deposition operations. It was experimentally established that with a ratio of components: manganese dioxide 15 wt. titanium dioxide 0.05 wt. titanium, the catalyst in the studied temperature range effectively decomposes ozone in the air, and a further increase in the content of manganese dioxide is impractical. Porosity of less than 15 vol. it is not possible to ensure high-quality deposition of manganese dioxide over the entire thickness of the compact and good permeability of the catalyst, and porosity of more than 65 vol. leads to a decrease in the strength of the catalyst, its effectiveness in gas purification. The shape of the obtained catalyst depends on the geometry of the mold, which allows you to adjust the geometric dimensions of the all-metal catalyst. In the invention, the particles were sintered in the form of a glass with permeable walls and a bottom, and the wall thickness and geometric dimensions determined the performance of the cleaned air. The manufacture of the catalyst in the form of pipes, plates, rods, hemispheres, etc. was tested.
The claimed method the catalyst compositions were prepared with different contents of manganese dioxide and tested in the reaction of ozone decomposition in the temperature range from ambient to 350 ° C at various air velocities.

As in the examples, the inventive catalyst is mechanically strong, when equipped and the increase of gas-dynamic loads is not destroyed. The known catalyst exhibits abrasion of the granules, entrainment of the active phase in the form of dust, which reduces the efficiency and increases the hydraulic resistance of the catalyst layer by 1.2 times.
