Abstract
Description
The invention relates to electromembrane methods for processing solutions and relates to the production of acids and bases from salts of carboxylic acids.
[1]. A known method of producing acidic and alkaline solutions by feeding water pretreated on Na-cation exchange filters to an electrodialyzer with alternating bipolar and monopolar membranes, the anion-exchange side of the bipolar membrane facing the anode, where the water supplied between the monopolar and the same layer of bipolar membrane introduce a solution of a strong electrolyte or a solution of sodium chloride in an amount of 0.2-0.6 g / l [1].
The disadvantages of this method are the need to prepare water (sophisticated equipment, the cost of ion-exchange resins, regeneration and washing of ion exchange resin), which generally increases the cost of the process; sodium chloride consumption; electricity consumption for the circulation of solutions; high power consumption due to low electrolyte concentration.
The purpose of the invention is to increase the yield of products and their degree of purification, simplifying the design of the apparatus, reducing the cost of the process.
The goal is achieved by the fact that a mixture of salts of carboxylic acids without preliminary treatment is fed into the desalination chamber of a multi-chamber electrodialysis apparatus with alternating cation exchange and bipolar membranes, the bipolar membrane facing the cation exchange side to a cathode made of two-flow with long channels and a small intermembrane distance.
The method is as follows.
В результате процессов, протекающих в системе, образуется смесь карбоновых кислот (в камерах обессоливания) и раствор гидроксида натрия (в камерах концентрирования).The initial solution of salts of carboxylic acids is fed into the concentration path, 0.05 N is fed into the desalination path. sodium hydroxide solution. For washing the anode chamber, 0.5 n is used. a solution of sulfuric acid, cathodic - tap water. The apparatus alternates cation-exchange and bipolar membranes, the size of which is 0.22 x 0.22 m, the working area of each membrane is 0.028 m 2 . Desalination and concentration chambers are separated by labyrinth-type frames made of a vinyl-plastic calendared film with a thickness of (0.5-0.6) ˙10 -3 m and a channel width of 8˙10 -3 m. A package of frames and membranes is pulled together with 3 textolite plates ˙10 -2 m, the thickness of the working chambers in the electrodialyzer (1-1.2) ˙10 -3 m. The length of the desalination paths is 13.6 m, concentration is 10.2 m. A salt solution is fed directly into all even chambers of the electrodialyzer, and alkali solution is continuously circulated through the concentration path to obtain a solution of alkali Anna concentration. The electrodes are made of titanium coated with a layer of manganese dioxide. A voltage is applied to the electrodes of the apparatus. The essence of the process is as follows. In the bipolar membrane at the interface of the cationite and anionite layers at currents exceeding the limiting value, hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions are formed. Under the influence of an electric current, hydrogen cations through the cation exchange layer of the bipolar membrane migrate to desalination chambers containing a mixture of carboxylic acid salts and bind with organic anions to low-dissociating carboxylic acids. Sodium ions are removed through cation-exchange membranes into the concentration path, and hydroxide ions migrate there through the anion exchange layer of the bipolar membrane. As a result of the processes occurring in the system, a mixture of carboxylic acids (in desalination chambers) and a solution of sodium hydroxide (in concentration chambers) are formed.
Acid and sodium hydroxide solutions were collected and the acid yield, residual salt content and alkali concentration were determined.

PRI me R 1. An aqueous solution of sodium salts of carboxylic acids with a concentration of 11% was processed in a two-threaded multi-chamber electrodialyzer with a continuous direct-flow circuit of the processed salt solution and a closed brine circuit using MK-40, MB-2 membranes. The process was carried out at a current density of 110 A / m 2 , the speed of the initial solution of 1.18 cm / s. The results are presented in the table.
П р и м е р 2. PRI me R 2. An aqueous solution of sodium salts of carboxylic acids with a concentration of 7% was processed in an electrodialysis apparatus as in Example 1. The process was carried out at a current density of 110 A / m 2 and a flow rate of 2.8 cm / s. The results are presented in the table.
П р и м е р 3. PRI me R 3. An aqueous solution of sodium salts of carboxylic acids with a concentration of 4% was processed in an electrodialysis apparatus as in example 1. The process was carried out at a current density of 110 A / m 2 , a flow rate of 4.5 cm / s. The results are presented in the table.
Thus, a comparison of the proposed method for producing acid and alkali with existing ones allows to reduce the cost of the process by eliminating additional membranes, using a two-line apparatus (as opposed to four-five-line) and a continuous scheme of movement of the treated salt solution (as opposed to portion); to intensify the process by reducing the intermembrane distance and lengthening the paths with a serial connection of cameras.
