Abstract
Description
The invention relates to techniques for testing corrosion and aging of electrically conductive materials.
The goal is achieved by determining the magnitude of the change in the work function of the electron (RWE) by measuring the contact potential difference (CRP) of the tested materials in the process of corrosion and aging.
The advantage of this assessment method is its versatility, namely, suitability for testing for damage by various types of corrosion (according to the chemical and electrochemical mechanism of their action), eliminating any influence on the test object, and therefore on the results of corrosion and aging assessment, which improves accuracy, simplifies and reduces the cost of testing, allows you to standardize, with virtually no restrictions, testing of various materials and environments. The method has high sensitivity, which makes it suitable for assessing the corrosive effects on metals (alloys) of any even the most inactive media, this makes it indispensable for determining the degree of corrosion damage (or aging) of thin-film coatings, including corrosion-resistant and long-term ones.
It is most expedient to determine the change in the RVE value for the set goals by the KRI method, measured, for example, by the equipment according to a. with. N 4799659, which is suitable for measurement in any environment. Measurements of the KRI can be performed both continuously in time and at any frequency on the surface of the test material with an area of 0.5 mm 2 or more.
In the table. Figures 1 and 2 show, as examples, the results of measurements of the CIR of steel St3 and copper M2 with respect to gold, made for various purposes.
1. In the table. 1. It is shown how surface preparation of test samples affects the reproduction of test results.
In the table. 2 - high sensitivity and efficiency of assessing the corrosion damage of a metal in organic inactive liquid media.
Prior to testing, metal samples were cleaned of various contaminants with activated carbon, followed by washing with petroleum ether, and to obtain an energetically homogeneous surface, they were cleaned with N8 glass sand. Such preparation of surfaces was monitored by measuring the cross-section coefficient by scanning the working electrode over the surface of the test samples. Steel samples were tested in a salt fog chamber according to GOST 9.054; copper M2 were tested in the fuel TS-1 (with various additives in%) according to GOST 6321-69 with fuel temperature 100 ° C and holding therein copper samples for three hours.
The data table. 1 show that the unequal energy state of the initial surface areas (different values of the CRP in areas "a", "b", "c") significantly affects the results of corrosion damage. It follows that for good reproduction of the results of corrosion tests, it is necessary to control the initial state of the surfaces of the tested metals, which can be effectively measured by measuring the electronoelectric radiation.
