Abstract
ЁThe invention relates to a measurement technique. The aim of the invention is to increase the accuracy and productivity of measurements by reducing the statistical error by making it possible to use radiation of higher intensity and eliminating the need for periodic recalibration during radioactive decay of the source. The measured material 26 is placed in the cross section of the ionizing radiation flux from the source 1. The radiation passing through the material 26 undergoes attenuation and is recorded by the first transducer 5, from where it enters the input of the first counter 7. Simultaneously, the radiation from the source 1 is detected by the second transducer 6 identical to the first. A positive effect is ensured by the presence of the second measuring transducer 6 connected in series with the second counter 8 and organizing the connections between them and the remaining elements of the thickness gauge, ensuring the independence of the measurement result and the values of the calibration congruents from the set measurement time of the thickness gauge by automatically changing the measurement time according to the average value pulse frequencies at the outputs of the measuring transducers 5 and 6. 1 ill. Radioisotope thickness gauge works as follows.
The measured object (sheet material) 26 is set to a working position in the cross section of the radiation flux exiting the first collimation hole 3. When the starter button 25 is pressed, a number from switch 24 is entered into counter 8, which determines the duration of the measurement cycle, and counter 7 and counter 22 is set to zero. Moreover, if a number other than zero is set on the switch 24, the counter 8 is set to this number and a single signal appears at the output of the decoder 9, which is applied to the enable inputs of the first 7 and second 8 counters. After releasing the starter button 25, the first 7 and second 8 counters are locked and the measurement cycle begins. XAt the same time, the radiation of the source 1, which passed through the second collimation hole 4, is registered identical to the first second measuring transducer b and is supplied to the counting input of the subtractor 8. After the number of pulses equal to the number T set on the switch 24 is received at the input of the counter 8, it turns out to be in the zero state and a signal of the zero level appears at the output of the decoder 9, which blocks the counting inputs of the first 7 and second 8 counters. 13,At the end of this operation, a signal appears at the output of the one-shot 11, which starts the adder 20, summing the values of formulas (3) and (4). Similarly, the signal duration of the second one-shot 11 must be greater than or equal to the maximum summing time. Then a signal appears at the output 5 of the one-shot 12, which starts the multiplier 21, multiplying the number 3 by the number K installed on the setpoint 16 of the second calibration constant. After the completion of the multiplication operation, the fourth one-shot 13 is likewise started.

Дл получени необходимого времени из- мерени толщиномера - на переключателе 24 нужно установить числоwhere E is the number set on the setpoint 17 of the third calibration constant. Taking into account formulas (3), (4) and (6), the measurement result of formula (5) can be represented as

Therefore, the measurement result and the calibration constants are independent of the set time for measuring the thickness gauge. In the case of radioactive decay of the ionizing radiation source to a certain value and from its initial value, the average pulse frequencies at the outputs of the first and second measuring transducers 5 and 6 also change simultaneously. Moreover, the number of recorded pulses (3) in the first counter 7 during the measurement cycle does not changes due to a corresponding increase in the measurement time of the thickness gauge
