Wodny płyn do hydraulicznego szczelinowania slick water zawiera solankę, nieorganiczne azotany, bakterie redukujące azot, czynnik zapobiegający odkładaniu się kamienia wybrany z grupy składającej się z polimeru poliakrylanowego, kopolimeru poliakrylanu, terpolimeru poliakrylanu i ich mieszaniny, oraz czynnika redukującego tarcie, przy czym czynnikiem redukującym tarcie jest poliakryloamid.
