Abstract

A mechanism for setting the inclination of a chair back-rest of a chair comprises a detent unit (9) comprising at least two detent plates (10) and (11) engaging a set of slots (14) in the rear wall of the upper part (1) of the back-rest frame. A manoeuvring lever (23) serving for setting the height of the chair seat carrier (5) is mounted in the seat carrier (5) in a manner enabling swing of the lever (23) about its axis and its shifting along its axis. The swing of the lever (32) about its axis is transferred by means of a plate (27) onto a valve (24) of the gas spring in the chair foot column (25). The shifting of the manoeuvring lever (23) is transferred through a plate (28) on a cam (19), where a change of the direction of the movement occurs and further on a linking member (17), and to a guiding element (15) connected to the linking member (17) by means of a spring (16) and to detent plates (10) and (11) of the detent unit (9). The upper part (1) of the back-rest frame is connected to the lower part (2) of the back-rest frame in swivelling manner by means of an arbor (3), onto which a spring (6) is mounted urging the upper part (1) towards the lower part of the back-rest frame. the lower part (2) of the back-rest frame is mounted shiftily in a channel (4) of the seat carrier (5) and is locked by means of a knob (21).
