Abstract
Description
The subject of the invention is a process for the production of polyestrols containing reactive hydroxyl groups, intended in particular for the production of polyurethanes by reaction with isocyanates.
Inny jeszcze znany sposób polega na transestryfikacji oleju rycynowego alkoholami wodorotlenowymi (opis patentowy NRD nr 155 771).A well-known method of producing polyester consists in the condensation of adipic acid with polyols (Wirpsza Z .: "Poliuretany", WNT, Warsaw 1991). Another known method consists in condensing with polyhydric alcohols, especially diethylene glycol, the distillation residue formed in the production of dimethyl terephthalate (Polish Patent No. 135,830). There is also a known process involving the condensation of polyhydric alcohols with a mixture of dicarboxylic acids, hydroxy carboxylic acids and their derivatives, resulting from the distillation of monocarboxylic acids and aldehydes, ketones and alcohols from by-products of cyclohexane oxidation to cyclohexanone (Polish Patent No. 93,248). Another known method is the transesterification of castor oil with hydroxyl alcohols (East German Patent No. 155,771).
Wytwarzane znanymi sposobami poliestrole stosuje się w reakcji z izocyjanianami do wyrobu poliuretanów. Wyroby te obejmują przede wszystkim tworzywa piankowe, a także elastomery, lakiery i kleje. The polyesters produced by known methods are used in reaction with isocyanates in the production of polyurethanes. These products mainly include foams, as well as elastomers, varnishes and adhesives.
A wide range of known polyesters, used in practice, is due to the fact that they differ in the complex properties of the polyesters themselves, such as reactivity, viscosity under processing conditions and color, and in the complex of properties of polyurethane products made of these polyesters, such as flammability, flexibility, foam structure, resistance for hydrolysis, shrinkage size and others related to the type of application. Therefore, any group of polyestrols cannot be compared with the prior art in terms of one specific quality indicator.
The aim of the invention was to develop a process for the production of polyester rolls containing long aliphatic chains and rigid segments in the molecule in the appropriate proportion, provided that such a structure would favorably affect the essential elements of the complex of product properties.
It has been found that polyesters with the desired complex of properties are obtained by condensation of polyhydric alcohols with polycarboxylic acids, their esters and anhydrides, carried out in such a way that a mixture of vegetable oil, maleic anhydride and polyhydric alcohol is subjected to condensation with an aromatic polycarboxylic acid, its methyl ester or glycolic or cyclic anhydride, and optionally additionally with an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or its dimethyl ester or an aliphatic hydroxy carboxylic acid. The aromatic carboxylic acid or its derivatives mentioned above are in particular a mixture of by-products from the production of terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate.
Stosunek wagowy ilości bezwodnika maleinowego do ilości oleju roślinnego wynosi od 0,1:1 do 0,6:1. ....The weight ratio of maleic anhydride to the amount of vegetable oil is 0.1: 1 to 0.6: 1. ....
Kondensację prowadzi się w temperaturze 180-220°C. Wszystkie składniki wyjściowe wprowadza się do mieszaniny reakcyjnej korzystnie przed rozpoczęciem kondensacji. Można jednak zastosować kolejne prowadzenie poszczególnych etapów reakcji, tzn. najpierw poddaje się reakcji olej roślinny z bezwodnikiem maleinowym, a następnie do uzyskanego półproduktu wprowadza się pozostałe reagenty i przeprowadza się kondensację.The condensation is carried out at a temperature of 180-220 ° C. All starting components are introduced into the reaction mixture preferably before the start of the condensation. However, it is possible to carry out the individual reaction steps sequentially, i.e. firstly the vegetable oil is reacted with maleic anhydride, and then the remaining reactants are introduced into the resulting intermediate and condensation is carried out.
Preference is given to using the following vegetable oils: rapeseed, linseed, soybean, coconut, palm, tall or dehydrated castor oil or mixtures thereof. Semi-drying oils such as rapeseed and soybean oils are especially useful. A favorable complex of product properties is obtained if the vegetable oil content in the starting material mixture is 5-40% by weight.
Conventional polyhydric alcohols are used in the process of the invention, especially glycols such as ethylene and diethylene glycol, as well as glycerin, trimethylolpropane and pentaerythritol.
Jako aromatyczny kwas wielo4The selection of the appropriate aromatic polycarboxylic acid or its functional derivative is of particular importance, as it significantly affects not only the properties of the products, but also the raw material costs. As an aromatic multi-4 acid

A particularly preferred feedstock containing aromatic polycarboxylic acid or an ester thereof is the distillation residue formed during the purification of dimethyl terephthalate, which is a mixture mainly of trimellitic, terephthalic and isophthalic acid methyl esters, the content of trimellitic trimellitate in this mixture being at least 2% by weight. The aromatic polycarboxylic acid or its methyl ester is also suitable for use in the process according to the invention, a by-product formed during the preparation of dimethyl terephthalate and consisting mainly of isophthalic, orthophthalic, terephthalic and trimellitic acid methyl esters and the corresponding monomethyl esters and free acids.
Preferably also phthalic acid or anhydride is used as the aromatic polycarboxylic acid or its anhydride in the process according to the invention, its content in the mixture of starting materials being 10 to 40% by weight.
In addition to the aromatic polycarboxylic acids and their functional derivatives, an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid or its dimethyl ester can be used in the process according to the invention. The aliphatic dicarboxylic acid can also be used together with the aliphatic monocarboxylic acid.
The aliphatic dicarboxylic acid used is preferably adipic acid or a mixture of succinic, glutaric and adipic acids which is formed as a by-product in the production of adipic acid. The corresponding dimethyl esters are also suitable for use.
Another aliphatic raw material preferably used in the process of the invention as a supplement to the aromatic acid components or their derivatives is the waste mixture resulting from the oxidation of cyclohexane to cyclohexanone and mainly containing hydroxyvaleric acid and hydroxycaproic acid, also in the form of lactones and esters, including succinic, glutaric and adipic acid. .
