Abstract

The invention solves the problem of liners, such as wth transportation container liners, of maintaining constant temperature and breathability of cargo inside the liner while protecting the cargo from moisture damage. There is disclosed liner for protecting goods against damage from condensation, comprising: a breathable material having a breathable film layer laminated to a breathable support layer, wherein the breathable film layer is a non-perforated layer and allows vapour to transfer across the breathable material but inhibits the transfer of liquids; a breathable reflective material laminated to the breathable material, wherein the breathable reflective material is perforated before lamination to the breathable material and has a reflectivity of equal to or more than 80%; wherein the water vapour transmission rate of the breathable reflective material is greater than the water vapour transmission rate of the breathable film layer; and wherein the breathable material can withstand a hydrostatic pressure of 250 mm or greater.

Claims (19)

Claims:
1. A liner for protecting goods against damage from condensation, comprising: 5 a breathable material having a breathable film layer laminated to a breathable support layer, wherein the breathable film layer is a rforated layer and allows vapour to transfer across the breathable material but inhibits the transfer of liquids; 10 a breathable reflective material laminated to the breathable material, n the breathable reflective material is perforated before tion to the breathable material and has a reflectivity of equal to or more than 15 wherein the water vapour transmission rate of the breathable tive material is greater than the water vapour transmission rate of the breathable film layer; and wherein the breathable material can withstand a hydrostatic pressure of 250 mm or greater.
2. The liner as claimed in claim 1, wherein the breathable film layer has a water vapour transmission rate n 50g/m2/day and 5,000g/m2/day. 25
3. The liner as claimed in claim 2, wherein the water vapour transmission rate of the breathable material is approximately /m2/day. 30
4. The liner as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the breathable material can and a hydrostatic pressure of 1,000 mm or greater.
5. The liner as claimed in any one of the preceding 35 claims, wherein the vapour transfers across the breathable film layer by diffusing h a polymer matrix of the breathable film layer.
6. The liner as claimed in any one of claims 1 to 5, n the vapour physically transfers across the breathable film layer.
7. The liner as claimed in claim 7, wherein the breathable film layer has micropores that allow vapour to transfer across the breathable film layer.
8. The liner as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, n the water vapour transmission rate of the breathable film layer is the same as or less than a water vapour transmission rate of the support layer.
9. The liner as claimed in any one of the preceding claims, wherein the support layer is a non-woven layer or a woven fabric layer. 20
10. The liner as claimed in claim 9, wherein the breathable material comprises a second non-woven layer or a second woven fabric layer, the breathable film layer being located between two non-woven layers or between two woven fabric layers.
11. The liner as claimed in any one of the ing claims, wherein the able reflective al is attached to the breathable material by an adhesive layer. 30
12. A container liner comprising a plurality of panels joined together to form a full or partial ure for storing goods, wherein at least a portion of at least one of the panels comprises a liner as claimed in any one of the preceding claims to define a breathable panel.
13. The container liner as claimed in claim 12, wherein at least one of the panels that is not a breathable panel has an outer layer of reflective al.
14. The container liner as claimed in claim 16 or claim 17, wherein all of the panels comprise an outer layer of 5 reflective material.
15. The container liner as d in any one of claims 12 to 14, wherein a top panel is the breathable panel. 10
16. The container liner as claimed in any one of claims 12 to 15 wherein the top panel is a breathable panel and includes a hanging assembly that lifts the top panel to form an apex and at least one sloping side to assist in draining condensed water from the top panel.
17. The container liner as claimed in claim 16, n the hanging assembly includes a plurality of lifting mechanisms provided along a length of the top panel. 20
18. The container liner as claimed in claim 17, n the lifting mechanisms are magnets located in pouches provided along the length of the top panel.
19. The container liner as claimed in claims 17 or 18, 25 wherein the lifting mechanisms are hooks, double-side adhesive tape and/or an apex frame to which the top panel is hooked on.
