Abstract

616273 Disclosed is a vehicle, which includes an elevatable lift platform (3), for travelling along either a railway (see figure 5) or a roadway. The vehicle includes an arrangement of wheels for engaging the rails (see 18, figure 2), and an arrangement of wheels for engaging the roadway (see 16, figure 2). The rail engaging wheels are gauge adjustable for tracks of different width, or gauge. A drive system is provided for rotationally driving at least one of the wheels. A user interface (32) is provided on the elevatable lift platform, which allows the user to control the travel of the vehicle in either configuration; along the tracks or along the rails. The at least one driven wheel may be at least one of the road engaging wheels. The rail engaging wheels may comprise a drive receiving portion (see 20a, figure 2) for engaging the periphery (see 16a, figure 2) of at least one driven wheel (see 16, figure 2) of the vehicle, such that the vehicle travels along the railway tracks when the drive receiving portion is rotated by the driving wheels of the vehicle.
