Abstract

A method of securing a ladder in a working position using a kit is disclosed. The method includes attaching a tether (10) to a top section (12) of a ladder (6), placing the ladder in the working position and securing the tether (10) directly or indirectly to a fixed connection point (14). The fixed connection point is located substantially directly below the attached first end of the tether in the working position. The tension on the tether (10) is then increased using a tensioning means (16), such as a ratchet, associated with the tether to secure the ladder in place. A kit is also disclosed including tensioning means and connection means for performing the method.
