Abstract

This disclosure relates to a water-based preservative formulation for treating Pinus radiata sapwood from decay by Coptotermes acinaciformis, said formulation comprising: permethrin emulsified in water at a concentration of about 5 to about 7 g/L of the preservative formulation; at least one surfactant component selected from the group consisting of anionic, cationic and non-ionic; at least one hydrocarbon solvent; and a biocidally-effective concentration (less than about 20 g/L) of one or more further preservative/s, said one or more further preservatives selected from the group consisting of allethrin, ifenthrin, cypermethrin, cyphenothrin, deltamethrin, prallethrin, resmethrin, sumithrin, tetramethrin, tralomethrin, transfluthrin, imiprothrin, acetamiprid, clothianidin, dinotefuran, imidacloprid, nitenpyram, thiacloprid, thiamethoxam.
