Abstract

604384 Disclosed is a water craft (1) comprising a body portion (2); at least two water engaging means (11, 12) and a suspension system. The water craft (1) provided with the suspension system and at least two water engaging means (11, 12) controls the roll and pitch attitude of the body of the water craft when waves are encountered to ensure stability. The body portion (2) is partially suspended above the at least two water engaging means (11, 12) by the suspension system. Locating means connect each water engaging means (11, 12) to the body portion (2) to permit substantially vertical and pitch direction motions of the water engaging means (11, 12) relative to the body (2). The suspension system comprises at least one front pitch support ram (15) and at least one back pitch support ram (16) which provides support for at least a portion of the body (2) relative to the water engaging means (11, 12). The front pitch support ram (15) including a compression chamber (17) forms a front pitch compression volume and a back pitch support ram (16) including a compression chamber (18) forms back pitch compression volume. A body pitch conduit (25) is connected between the front pitch compression volume and the back pitch compression volume. The body pitch conduit (25) includes a body pitch device (26) which divides the body pitch conduit (25) portion. The body pitch device (26) controls the effective flow of a fluid between the body pitch conduit (25) front and back portions.
