Abstract

596127 A panel type construction with a tongue and groove joint which prevents lateral displacement of panels at the joint. The panel type construction has a first panel (A) with a groove on the edge thereof and a second panel (B) with a tongue on the edge thereof. The groove and the tongue have arcuate profiles which have equal radius (R). When the panels (A, B) are attached, the arcuate profile of the groove is displaced a first distance from the edge of the first panel (A) by straight portions (7) at the base of the groove. The first panel (A) is attachable to the second panel (B) by straight engagement of the tongue and the groove in which the base of the groove contacts the base of the tongue. Also disclosed are embodiments in which a spline is used in place of a tongue to join two panels.
