A roll forming machine for deforming a sheet metal strip 122 includes successive pairs of rollers 182, 184 and 186, 188. These rollers are used to feed the strip through the machine. The rollers may be adjusted axially to suit the particular product being produced. The machine includes successive forming rollers 204 206 which deflect the edges of the strip transversely. Each successive roller has its axis at a greater angle to the plane of strip 122 so as to progressively deform it to the desired profile. The rollers 204, 206 are mounted on knuckles 208A, 212A so that their angle may be adjusted so that the machine can produce differently profiled metal strips.
