This Invention relates to disposable diapers, and more ■

particularly to a tape fastener arrangement for use in obtaining !

i

! a good fit while minimizing waste leakage,

!

1

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

i

Various types of diapers have been developed In the past such as diapers which are of a box-pleated or hour-glass configuration In conjunction with which tape fasteners are used at the waist for securement of the diaper on the infant. These types of diapers have been devised to obtain a better fit, but due to movement of the Infant and manipulation of the diaper and due to variations in the build of the Infant, the diaper will show looseness at least In some portions. This looseness leads to failure of the waste fluids to reach the absorbent pad

|j in part and eventually to waist leakage,

(I

t ■

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

♦: •

1

t

The concept of the present Invention is to provide an

1( additional tape fastener removably mounted on the diaper for use in securement thereof across a tuck taken In a loose portion of

• the diaper to enhance the fit, prevent gaps, especially at the waist due to too loose a fit, thereby eliminating waste leakage whllb also decreasing the bulklness of the appearance of the disposable diaper on the infant.

In carrying out the Invention, there is provided an additional tape fastener which is removably secured on the top sheet of the diaper havinc; an absorbent pad between the top sheet and backiner sheet, A release sheet is secured in a desired accessible place on the diaper and the additional tape fastener is removably secured thereto. After the diaper is positioned and secured on the Infant, a tuck is taken in a loose portion of the diaper and the additional tape fastener secured across the tuck,

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OP THE DRAWING '

Fie. 1 is a plan view of a folded diaper employing the present invention?

Fis;. 2 is a perspective view of a box-pleated diaper with the additional tape fastener secured to the front of the top sheet}

Fig. 3 Is a perspective view of a contoured diaper having the additional tape fastener secured to the front of the top sheet)

Pifr. 4 Is a perspective view of a box-pleated diaper showing the additional tape fastener secured to the rear of the top sheets

Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a contoured diaper showing the additional tape fastener secured to the rear of the top sheet?

Fig. 6 is a schematic view showing a first step of peelinsr the additional tape fastener}

-3-

202255

Pig, 7 Is a schematic view showing the manner In which a tuck Is taken and the additional tape fastener being applied| Fig, 8 Is a schematic view showing a final result of

»

the Invention! and, J

Pig, 9 Is a schematic view showing the Invention when a tuck is taken at the waist,

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With continuing reference to the accompanying drawing wherein like reference numerals designate similar parts throughout the various views, a folded diaper 10 is shown with an additional tape fastener thereon. The tape fastener 12 includes a release sheet which is permanently affixed to either the top sheet or backing sheet of an otherwise conventional diaper which may be of any type and has the conventional absorbent pad disposed between the top sheet and the backing sheet. The absorbent pad is preferably of woodfluff, the top sheet of a non-woven material made from polyethylene or polypropylene fibers and the backing sheet of a fluid impervious polyethylene.

In Pig, 2, the additional tape fastener 12 is shown secured to the front central panel 20 of a box pleated diaper havinet Inwardly extending panels 22 and outwardly turned panels 24,

In Fig, 3i the additional tape fastener is shown secure* to the front of a contoured diaper which may have elasticized members 28 In the crotch area for forming crotch seals.

!l

202255

In Pig. b, the additional tape fastener is secured to the rear of the contoured diaper while Pig. 5 shows the additional tape fastener 12 secured to the rear of the contoured hour-glass shaped diaper above the crotch area 30 and below the ears 32.

on an infant, the additional tape fastener is peeled from the release sheet as shown in Pig. 6. Then, a tuck 50 is taken in any loose portion of the diaper, preferably In the rear thereof to ensure better absorption by the diaper and the tape fastener 12 is secured across the tuck 50 in the final manner shown in Pig. 8. If the tuck 50 is adjacent the waist, the additional tape fastener 12 can be secured at the waist Itself.

Since there may be a steric hindrance when the tape fastener 12 is placed in front, notwitstanding the additional manipulation of the infant, it is preferable to obtain the closer fit at the rear portion of the diaper to insure better absorption,

In use, after a diaper has been positioned and secured t'

u

M >1

i

■ \

-5-
