Abstract

Et system for å utføre måling med høy oppløsning av frekvensvariasjoner i akustiske flermodus-fiberlasersensorer, har en ende-pumpet fibersensor som utsender flere låsende modi, hvor de nøyaktige frekvenser for de låsende modi som utsendes, avhenger av et strekk som virker på den akustiske sensoren. En optisk fiber er koplet til den aktive fibersensoren for å overføre de låsende modi. Den optiske fiberen overfører de flere låsende modi til en optisk forsterkerfiber, hvor signalene med de låsende modi blir forsterket. De forsterkede signalene med de låsende modi mates så igjennom en fasemodulator som er koplet til den optiske fiberen for å påtrykke en fasegenerert bærebølge på signalene med de låsende modi. Utgangssignalet fra fasemodulatoren leveres til et mottakende interferometer som har en forutbestemt bane-ubalanse for å analysere interferometrisk frekvensforskyvningene for hvert av signalene med de låsende modi, hvor den forutbestemte bane-ubalansen er tilpasset til longitudinalmodus-avstanden mellom den aktive fibersensorens låsende modi. En demodulasjonsenhet er koplet til det mottakende interferometeret for å motta og demodulere utgangssignalet fra det mottakende interferometeret, for å bestemme frekvensforskyvningen som signalene med de låsende modi har pådratt seg, hvor den demodulerte frekvensforskyvningen er proporsjonal med strekket som virker på den akustiske sensoren. I en alternativ utførelsesform kan flere aktive fibersensorer pumpes ved hjelp av en enkelt laserlyskilde, med deres utgangssignaler multiplekset sammen og matet gjennom det mottakende interferometeret for interferometrisk analyse av alle signalene.
