Abstract

The process described uses a sodium acetate as de-icing agent which is essentially anhydrous (water-free) and has the form of particles having a smooth surface and a diameter from 0.3 to 10 mm. The sodium acetate described meets among other requirements in particular the demands for a rapid thawing action and for only minimal, if any, cooling of the environment, thereby speeding up the melting of ice and snow even further.
