Description
Fremgangsmåte og innretning tilProcedure and arrangement for
fleretrinns væske-væske-motstrøm-multistage liquid-liquid-countercurrent
ekstrahering.extraction.
The invention relates to a method and a device for multi-stage liquid-liquid-countercurrent extraction.
In multi-stage extractors, which work according to the mixing-rinsing principle, stirring devices such as propellers, turbines, blade stirrers and similar elements or centrifugal pumps and other rotating mixing and transport elements are used as mixing devices (German patent no. 1,080,552 , DAS 1,209-994, US Patent Nos. 2,594,675 and 3,325,255).
In the case of these extractors, the separators of the individual stages are arranged partly tower-shaped above each other and arranged within a common mantle. As mixers, there are stirrers arranged within the mantle in special chambers and pumps arranged next to the separators with single drives and also multi-chamber pumps with a common drive for each of several pump elements are common.
In the case of extractors with horizontal steps arranged next to each other or one after the other, the mixer's agitators are arranged both within the same housing as separator chambers, and also in separate vessels, which are connected by means of pipelines to the separators.
The use of rotary and other mechanically operated mixing devices for the division and intensive mixing of the two liquid phases has a major disadvantage, which consists in the fact that it is not possible to disperse and mix the liquid phase only to the extent that is precisely necessary for the exchange of substances .
Dispersions that are substantially finer than desired are almost always produced, often unwanted emulsions are formed.
These fine dispersions and emulsions require significantly more time for separation into the clear liquid phases than the relatively coarse dispersions which are necessary for carrying out the substance exchange process, so that separation chambers with a large volume are required.
Particularly critical are such mixers, which must also fulfill a transport function. Here, it is practically not possible to limit the pump performance to the required mixer performance. In addition, the listed mixing devices have a very poor degree of efficiency.
A further disadvantage is that with these extractors the mixing and pumping performance in each stage must be constantly adapted to the quantities flowing through the individual stages.
For this purpose, one of the phases is often cycled, which in turn requires additional energy.
In recent times, so-called static mixers have become known, which no longer have mechanically moving parts and which make it possible to produce dispersions with predetermined droplet sizes and a narrow size distribution.
Such known static mixers consist of a number of mixing elements arranged one behind the other in a tubular housing. The number of mixing elements to be used each time is determined by means of the desired degree of dispersion and mixing. The passports to be mixed resp. dispersed is introduced at the end of the tubular housing into separate inlet openings; the produced dispersion exits axially from the mixer housing at the opposite end (CAV 1971, October; Sulzer Pirmendruckschrift Age 10 6/62 Dr. Tauscher). These static mixers are used, among other things, for single-stage direct current washing processes.
The invention is based on the task of avoiding the disadvantages of mechanical mixing and of carrying out multi-stage counter-flow extraction and washing processes using static mixers without the intermediate connection of pumps or other mechanical transport devices.
According to the invention, this task is solved by dispersing and mixing the substance-exchanging surfaces in a static mixer only until the substance exchange between the two phases is finished and then separating the dispersion in a separator into the pure phases and passing each of the separated phases in counter flow to mixers of it each time next step,
idet videreføringen av de flytende faser foregår ved hjelp av as the continuation of the liquid phases takes place with the help of
oppdrifts- og tyngdekrefter.buoyancy and gravity forces.
For carrying out such a multi-stage counter-current extraction method, an extractor according to the mixing-separator principle is particularly suitable, where the phase separators are arranged tower-like above each other and which is characterized by the fact that static mixers are used for mixing.
According to a further embodiment of the extractor according to the invention, one arranges the static mixer in each stage on the side in the middle of the separator and connects it on the inlet side via a line or a channel with the outlet for the clear heavier phase of the separator of the above stage and via a another line or another channel with the outlet for clear light phase of the separator of the stage below.
Det øverste og nederste trinn adskiller seg fraThe upper and lower steps differ from each other
de andre trinn ifølge oppfinnelsen ved at minst i det øverste trinn er det anordnet istedenfor forbindelsen av blanderen med utløpet for tyngre fase av den derover liggende utskiller en innløpsstuss for innføring av den til ekstraktoren utenifra tilførte tyngre fase og minst i det nederste trinn istedenfor forbindelse av blanderen med utløpet for lett fase av den nedenfor liggende utskiller en innløpsstuss for innføring av den til ekstraktoren utenifra tilførte lett fase. the second stages according to the invention in that, at least in the top stage, there is arranged instead of the connection of the mixer with the outlet for the heavier phase of the separator lying above, an inlet for the introduction of the heavier phase supplied to the extractor from the outside, and at least in the bottom stage instead of the connection of the mixer with the outlet for the light phase of the one below separates an inlet for the introduction of the light phase supplied to the extractor from the outside.
The mixer can be flanged from the outside on the side of the separator, preferably, however, it is arranged inside the separator chamber or also flanged over a spigot or an inspection hole on the side so that it protrudes into the separator as far as possible.
For arbitrary setting of the separator level in the separator chamber, an adjustable throttle can be arranged in the lines for light and heavy phase from the separator to the mixer each time.
An advantageous further design of the extractor according to the invention consists in arranging at least at the separator chamber of the top stage an outlet for extracting clear light phase and at least at the bottom stage arranging an outlet for extracting clear heavy phase.
2) : To overcome the pressure loss of a static mixer, the weight or the buoyancy of the liquid column by the heavier resp. light phase, from which, according to the known rules, the distance H of the static mixer from the neighboring separators can be determined (see figure 2):
Herved er ApMtrykktapet av den statiske blander, Hereby, ApM is the pressure loss of the static mixer,
Ycj tettheten av den tyngre fase,Ycj the density of the heavier phase,
Y T tettheten av den lette fase.Y T the density of the light phase.
Det er konstruktivt spesielt gunstig å anordneIt is constructively particularly beneficial to arrange
den statiske blander ved utskillerens halve høyde, således at høyden av utskilleren er å utføre minst lik 2 x H. Fordelene ved tårnekstraktoren ifølge oppfinnelsen med statiske blandere sammenlignet'.:til vanlige blander-skiller-typer består spesielt deri at the static mixer at half the height of the separator, so that the height of the separator is to be made at least equal to 2 x H. The advantages of the tower extractor according to the invention with static mixers compared to ordinary mixer-separator types consist in particular in that
ingen mekanisk bevegede deler er tilstede og fordi ingen slitasjeforeteelser opptrer og heller ingen bølgeavtetninger er nødvendig. no mechanically moving parts are present and because no wear phenomena occur and no wave seals are necessary either.
The constructive structure is significantly simplified and the dispersion can be precisely determined.
The energy consumption is very low and there is no need for any circulation of the substance-exchanging phases.
The design according to the invention of the extractor also makes it possible to significantly reduce the separator volume, which results in material savings as well as product and solution resp. detergent savings due to the reduced filling volume.
Compared to strainer bottom, filler or pulsating extractors, it is particularly advantageous that no back-mixing occurs and therefore an approx. 100% step efficiency.
Ved målestokkøkning opptrer ingen problemer. No problems arise when scaling up.
As there are no mechanically moving parts, the extractor is free from vibrations. The extractor according to the invention enables further applications of desirable excretion aids such as e.g. plate packs, chip or fiber filling, electro-separators, etc. for rapid separation of the dispersion.

The working method of the extractor according to the invention is explained in more detail with the help of figure 1, which shows a 4-stage extractor.
Each of the four stages consists of a static mixer 1, 1<*>, 1", 1"' and a separator 2, 2', 2" and 2"'.' Mixers and separators of neighboring stages are connected to each other by means of cables.
An N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP)-containing hydrocarbon fraction must be washed with water to remove NMP to a residual content of 50 ppm. The contaminated hydrocarbon fraction has a specific weight of 820 kg/m<5>.

i nederste trinn over ledning 3 til den statiske blander 1.in the bottom step above wire 3 to the static mixer 1.
Det spesifikt tyngre vann tilføres i det øverste trinn over The specifically heavier water is supplied in the top step above
ledning 4"<*>til den statiske blander 1"'.wire 4"<*>to the static mixer 1"'.
Den vaskede lette hydrokarbonfraksjon fjernesThe washed light hydrocarbon fraction is removed
i det øverste trinn ved 3"' fra vasketårnet; det med NMP opp-ladede spesifikt tyngre vaskevann forlater vasketårnet i nederste trinn over 4. in the top stage at 3"' from the wash tower; the NMP-charged specifically heavier wash water leaves the wash tower in the bottom stage above 4.
The light phase covers the following path in countercurrent to the heavier phase through the extractor shown: Entry through line 3 in the mixer 1, to which the heavier phase from separator 2' simultaneously flows, via line 7j conditioned by gravity. The mixer is dimensioned so that in the present case the washing water which forms the heavier phase is dispersed only to the extent necessary for substance exchange. The dispersion formed in the mixer and introduced into the separator 2 therefore separates very quickly again into a heavier aqueous phase which collects at the bottom of the separator and the lighter hydrocarbon phase which collects below the bottom of the overlying separation chamber. From here, the light phase flows by means of buoyancy force over line 6' to mixer 1' and watered stage, to which heavier phase also flows from separator 2" from 3-stage conditioned by gravity.
In mixer 1', both phases are mixed and dispersed to provide material exchange. The dispersion then flows into separator 2', where the two phases separate again. By buoyancy force, the light phase flows further over line 6", then to mixer 1" in stage 3, where it hits the heavier phase from separator 2"' from stage 4, which by means of gravity flows over line 7" to the mixer. As before, the dispersion necessary for the exchange of substances takes place in the mixer and then in the separator 2" phase separation takes place. The light phase flows with the help of buoyancy force from here to the mixer 1"' in the 4th and last stage, where it is mixed with it via line 4" ' added fresh washing water to carry out the material exchange. The washed, light hydrocarbon phase separated from the dispersion in the separator 2"' is withdrawn via line 3"' in the upper part of the separator.
Figure 2 shows on an enlarged scale a section of the third stage of the multi-stage washing and extraction tower according to the invention with pipe lines 6" and 7" arranged outside the casing 11 and mixer 1" arranged inside the separator 2". To influence the level of the separator in the separator, a throttling fitting 8 is arranged in the lines 6" and 7" each time. The mixer 1" contains, for example, five common mixing elements. The two liquids to be dispersed are introduced at one end of the static mixer via separate inlet openings 9 and 10 into the mixer, the dispersion produced exits at 5 at the other end of the mixer.
When an extractor is only operated under constant conditions, i.e. with constant production and always with the same media, they can two throttle fittings 8 in the lines 6" and 7" replace a single throttle point, such as the orifice plate 12 shown in figure 3 in line 7" for the heavy phase. In such a case, at constant operating conditions, the hydraulic conditions are also constant so that there is no need for a change, which is possible with the adjustable throttle fittings,
■ The required throttling effect can be unambiguously calculated according to the known laws of hydrodynamics and the throat orifice can likewise be dimensioned according to the known rules.
The introduction of liquid phases into mixers must take place in such a way that the heavy phase does not enter the lines for the light phase and vice versa, so that the light phase cannot enter the lines for the heavy phase, whereby it is ensured that the two phases flow together only through the mixers.
Figures 4a and 4b show the constructive design of introduction points of liquid phases in the mixer. Thereby, the supply pipes 6' and 7' dip into the pre-chamber 13 arranged in front of the mixer, so that the mouth of the lighter phase is higher than the mouth of the heavier phase resp. the mouth of the heavier phase is lower than the mouth of the light phase.
In another embodiment of the introduction points of the liquid phases in the mixer according to Figure 5, the light phase is introduced through a tube 14 arranged in a centric, axial direction in the pre-chamber 13 of the mixer. The heavy phase is introduced into the pre-chamber through an annular channel 15 which concentrically surrounds the central tube 14 , with the mouth of the ring channel 15 in the flow direction being at least the length of the outer diameter of the ring channel 15 in front of the mouth of the central pipe 14.
Figure 6 shows the use of a 16-stage extractor for extracting aromatics from an aromatic hydrocarbon mixture using a solvent and washing out the (essentially) aromatic-free raffinate-containing solvent using water. The steps are numbered from bottom to top. To aromatic -extraction, 12 steps are arranged, 4 further steps are intended for washing out the solvent with water.
The hydrocarbon mixture 101 to be extracted is introduced as a light phase in mixers of the 3rd stage, together with that in separators from the 2nd trilirT^uTfseparated, light hydrocarbon phase. A common solvent 102 (eg an N-methylpyrrolidone-glycol mixture) is introduced into the mixer for the 12th step as heavy phase. The aromatic solvent 103 is removed as a heavy phase above a level control from the extractor's bottom stage.
A strong solvent-free extract reflux 105 is introduced as a light phase in the mixer of the bottom (first) stage.
The highly aromatic-free raffinate 104, which in the course of the extraction process has taken up solvent, and which appears as a light phase in the separator of the 12th stage, is introduced directly into the mixer for the 13th stage, which is the bottom stage of 4 washing stages.
The necessary wash water 107 is introduced as a heavy phase in the mixer in the top (16th) stage. From the separator in the top stage, it removes highly solvent- and aromatic-free raffinate 106 as a light phase.
The solvent-containing washing water 108 is withdrawn via a level regulator as heavy phase from the separator in the 13th stage.
