Description
The present invention relates to an underwater device for removing sediments as stated in the preamble to patent claim 1.
Bakgrunn Background
There is often a need to excavate masses on the seabed, for example to plan areas before installing structures, digging trenches before laying pipes, uncovering buried pipes. The masses to be dug can vary from clay and silt to stone.
A number of devices are known for dredging sediments at the seabed, including devices that make use of conventional centrifugal pumps as well as ejectors to establish suction power.
Known technology also includes blowers, which direct a powerful flow of water down towards the seabed to disintegrate sediments and blow them away. An example of the known technique in the area is WO 2008/065360 (Rotech Holdings Ltd.).
From US 2010/139130 Al, an underwater device with a vertical axis for removing sediments consisting of a pump unit that supplies a nozzle unit with water under pressure is known. A center nozzle is adapted to blow water in a mainly downward flow of water. The flushing pressure is provided by one or more propellers or thrusters and the device can be equipped with sonar and/or gyrocompass.
Lignende anordning er kjent fra US 6125560 A. From NL 9500228 A, an underwater device for removing sediments is known comprising a pump unit which supplies a nozzle unit with water under pressure, which nozzle unit comprises a center nozzle. The device is designed to be operated by means of a crane. A similar device is known from US 6125560 A.
US 4123858 A deals with a device that can perform several types of underwater functions, such as dredging in deep or shallow water, dredging on hard or soft seabeds. At the lower part of the hull's side walls, nozzles are placed at equal distances around the hull and are directed laterally outwards from the hull at selected angles. These nozzles are intended for maneuvering the device. There are also nozzles at the bottom of the hull that can be used to loosen components on the seabed.
DE 319469 C describes a flushing device for water-diluting materials which can then be sucked up with a suction hose. A spray pipe has a nozzle with a center nozzle and three nozzles which are directed obliquely downwards in relation to the center nozzle.
US 1661672 A deals with a hydraulic digging tool for digging pile holes in the ground, including a nozzle with a center nozzle and several nozzles which are directed obliquely downwards in relation to the center nozzle.
The disadvantage of known technology is that the masses are blown up into a cloud that quickly envelops the blower and removes any visibility and possibility to visually monitor the work. Furthermore, it is a challenge that excavated masses collapse back into the trench / hole and form layers of unstable sediments.
It is a purpose of the invention that the masses are blown further away and out of, for example, a trench line. It is a purpose that the remaining bottom is as intact as possible and it is a purpose to keep visibility so that you can have control over the digging around vulnerable objects. It is also a purpose that the blower is smaller, lighter and more efficient than known technology. It is intended that it can be made from as many standard components as possible.
Om oppfinnelsen About the invention
The purposes stated above are achieved through a device according to the invention as defined in patent claim 1. Preferred embodiments appear from independent patent claims.
The invention makes it possible to blow away sediments from the seabed. The invention makes it possible to remove sediments further away than is possible with conventional blowers, the sediments can be removed in the chosen and desired direction and with a greater capacity than has previously been possible. At the same time, the invention makes it possible to maintain visibility to a far greater extent than with conventional blowers.
The device according to the invention comprises a housing which contains a pump device arranged to blow water in a mainly downward flow of water, water intake for letting water into the pump device, a nozzle arrangement for letting water out of the housing in a directionally determined manner, as well as a special device for keeping the device in a given, desired orientation during work operations. The device can also be called a "blower".
What is particularly new about the device is the nozzle arrangement, which surprisingly has proven to place the device in a "pocket" free of sand and sediments even during demanding work operations. Furthermore, it is important that the device can be held in the desired position at all times and regardless of varying loads.
By "angularly symmetrical" about an axis is meant that the respective nozzles are placed at the same angular distance around the axis so that the sum of the horizontal forces from the nozzles is zero. If there are only two inclined nozzles, they are placed at an angular distance of 180 degrees. If there are more than two nozzles, they can be arranged in pairs, still with an angular distance of 180 degrees between each nozzle in each pair. Other configurations may also be relevant if more than two inclined nozzles are used, but balanced in such a way that the nozzles' force components in the horizontal direction cancel each other out.
As for the pump unit itself, this can be of a known type per se.
The device for holding the device in a given, desired position can typically comprise two opposite, horizontal trusters which ensure that the direction of the blower is maintained. This is preferably done automatically based on signals from the built-in gyro. The device for keeping the device in a given, desired position can also be an eccentric anchoring or suspension which prevented the invention from rotating. Alternatively, you can also use adjustable "flaps" or rudders on the water flow from the main nozzles. In the case where the blower only has a single nozzle, the directional unit will typically be a wire suspended from a boat, barge or other fixed or movable object.
Pumping device suitable for creating the downward flow of water that will erode the sediments can typically comprise one or more thrusters (propellers) that create a flow of water downwards and out through the nozzles.
The nozzle arrangement comprises two or more nozzles which are directed obliquely downwards and, in the case where there is no external lower anchorage, to opposite sides. Typically, one nozzle will be directed downwards and two nozzles obliquely downwards to each side, but it is also conceivable that there are several nozzles pointing in varying directions.
Om oppfinnelsen About the invention
Figure IA shows a side section of a blower according to an embodiment of the invention.
Figure IB shows a top view of the blower shown in Figure IA.
Figures 2A and B show a side section of a blower according to another embodiment of the invention.
Figure 3 shows a schematic application of the blower shown in Figures IA and IB.
Reference is now made to figure IA. The device according to the present invention can generally be said to be divided into three sections or floors, where the top section is designated 20, middle section 30 and lower section 40.
Upper section 20 can be described as a directional unit that controls and limits the rotation around the vertical axis 11. This unit will typically comprise two trusters 21, one on each side, but it can also be an eccentrically connected wire that holds back any rotation.
The middle section 30 can also be referred to as a pump unit and comprises water intakes 31, at least one truster or propeller 32 (in figure IA two are shown) which is driven by motor 33. The pump unit 30 is arranged to draw water in through the water intakes 31 and put it in movement vertically downwards to the lower section which is the nozzle unit 40 of the blower 10.
The lower section or nozzle unit 40 of the blower shown in figure IA comprises a central nozzle 41 arranged to direct water essentially vertically downwards with a force sufficient to dissolve/erode more or less solid masses on the bottom. In addition, the blower comprises inclined nozzles 42 arranged symmetrically about the vertical axis 11 through the blower 10. When only two nozzles 42 are arranged mutually symmetrically about a common vertical axis, it means that their horizontal components are oppositely directed in relation to each other and that their angle in relation to the vertical axis is the same. For example, both inclined nozzles can stand at an angle that deviates by 20 degrees from the axis, 25 degrees from the axis, 30 degrees from the axis, or another selected angle common to the two nozzles 42.
De stiplede linjer viser dyseenheten omfattende dysene 41,42 (to stk.) og 43 (to stk.), i alt fem dyser. These nozzles help to blow loose material much further away from the blower than what the center nozzle 41 alone is capable of. In addition, and no less important, these nozzles 42 help to keep the space around the blower clean of sediments, so that the operator has good visibility and such that water drawn into the blower is not heavily contaminated. By having the side nozzles in pairs, the blower maintains a neutral position in the water, since the horizontal forces cancel each other out. Figure IB shows the blower seen from above, where there are two horizontal trusters 21 (one on each side) which control or limit the blower's rotation about the vertical axis, or simultaneously or separately, are used to move the truster along a line parallel to the axis of the truster. As a rule, it is desired that these ensure that the blower is kept in a fixed orientation, without rotation. Dotted lines show the nozzles 41 and 42 (two pieces), a total of three nozzles, Figure 2A shows a slightly different embodiment of the invention than that shown in figures IA, IB. The only difference is that there is an additional set of side nozzles 43 which have a direction slightly closer to the horizontal line than the side nozzles 42. This variant can thereby create even greater horizontal movement of sediments, but is otherwise equivalent to the embodiment shown in figure IA, IB. Also other nozzle configurations can occur where there is one mainly vertical center nozzle and a number of inclined nozzles which are arranged in pairs or rotationally symmetrical about the vertical axis of the blower. Figure 2B shows a top view of the blower from Figure 2A in basically the same way as Figure IB does for the variant in Figure IA. The dashed lines show the nozzle unit comprising nozzles 41, 42 (two pcs.) and 43 (two pcs.), a total of five nozzles. Figure 3 shows the blower 11 suspended by a wire 51 or the like from a crane 52 placed on a barge or boat 53. However, it should be specified that suspensions, cranes etc. are not part of the invention and can have completely different forms than those shown . In some cases, a fixed, articulated suspension can be used so that the need for stabilizing trusters is not present.
The device according to the present invention can advantageously be equipped with sonar, sonar or similar (not shown) to monitor the distance to the bottom and to underwater installations.
It can also be equipped with a gyro (not shown) which, in cooperation with the trusters 21, can automatically control and limit any rotation about the vertical axis.
