Abstract
En kompakt katalytisk reaktor (20) omfatter en kanal for en hurtig reaksjon som har et innløp (26) for en gassblanding som skal undergå reaksjonen. Kanalen er utstyrt med to forskjellige katalysatorstrukturer (32,34), en første katalysatorstruktur (32) i nærheten av innløpet (26) og en andre katalysatorstruktur (34) ytterligere fra innløpet, slik at en gassblanding tilført til innløpet strømmer forbi dem begge. Den første katalysatorstruktur (32) har liten katalytisk aktivitet for den hurtige reaksjonen, mens den andre katalysatorstruktur (34) har katalytisk aktivitet for den hurtige reaksjonen. Dette er anvendelig for forbrenning av gassblandinger inneholdende hydrogen, for hvilke den første katalysatorstruktur (32) kan omfatte ubelagt oksidert aluminium-inneholdende ferrittisk stål, mens den andre katalysatorstruktur (34) kan omfatte Pt og/eller Pd i en aluminabærer. Avgasser kan også resirkuleres til innløpet (26) for å inhibere forbrenning.
