Abstract

A collector element comprises a wooden frame (3) with longitudinal frame pieces (5) and transverse pieces (6, 7) attached to a back plate (4). The insulation material (8) is inserted into the frame between the cross members. On top of the cross sections (6, 7) and the insulation material (8) is arranged a pipe loop (10) having a plurality of pipe lengths (11) extending substantially horizontally at a small angle to each other and each having a water-absorbing aluminum plate (12, 13), which with its one longitudinal edge portion (14) encloses the respective pipe length (11). The framework (3) is outwardly covered by a plate, preferably a channel plate (20) of polycarbonate. When used in solar collectors (1) for residential buildings, several such collector elements are interconnected and connected in series, possibly to cover most of the ceiling height between the gutter and the muzzle. In such cases, all the collector elements are covered by a single, large plate (2) to provide a roof that is free of leaks that can leak and that snow will easily slip off. The collector elements will be easy to handle and assemble, and they will provide a large, efficient and reliable collector surface with relatively modest costs.
