Abstract
A melt-processable hydrogel block copolymer is prepared from hydrophilic and hydrophobic monomers having sufficient internal cross-linking to provide a dimensionally stable hydrogel at temperatures up to at least about 60 ° C. The polymer can be thermally processed into an ophthalmic device and then hydrated to a hydrogel material. Optionally, the polymer may be subjected to thermal treatment before, during or after hydration to form fillings.
