Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for die casting as stated in the introduction of claim 1.
The invention relates in particular to measures in connection with an increase in the physical-mechanical properties of a workpiece produced by pressure casting, using back pressure against the material in the mold.
From EP-A-0 005 239, a casting method and a device for pressure casting of metal, in particular non-ferrous metal, are known, where essential features consist of an evacuation of melt-absorbing recesses in the casting tool, an introduction of metal melt into the mold and a exerting a back pressure against the metal melt in the casting tool by means of an external melt surplus and possibly also by means of the casting system itself. The application of the residual pressure by means of an external melt surplus can take place through a hollow part which can be brought into engagement with the casting tool's overflow channel. The known method or the known device has the disadvantage that the residual pressure is kept constant during the solidification of the casting and it is thus not possible to achieve a control of the crystallization in the entire volume, especially when it concerns complicated shapes. This has a negative influence on the physical-mechanical properties of the casting.
The purpose of the invention is therefore to improve the initially known method so that safe control of the mold filling and crystallization is achieved, whereby castings with better properties are obtained.
This is achieved with the method stated in claim 1, with the characteristics stated there in the characteristic. Beneficial measures in connection with the new method are indicated in the non-independent requirements.
The invention shall be described in more detail with reference to the examples described below.

The machine for carrying out the method according to fig. 1 consists of a supply 1 of molten metal (melt), which is connected to the molding press mold 3 by means of a material feed line 2. The molding mold is made up of two parts - a lower part 31 and an upper part 32 - which form the molding cavity 4, while additional cavity 5 is formed in the upper part 32. The melt supply is connected to a pressurized gas source 6 via a valve 7. The gas pressure in the gas source 6 is Pj_, which is also the delivery pressure. The melt supply 1 is provided with a pressure indicator 8, which is connected via a converter 9 and a valve 10 to a compressed gas tank 13 which is under a high pressure P3. A multiplying cylinder 11 is mounted on the lower part of the press mold 3 and by means of a control throttle valve 12 and a line it is connected to the extra cavities 5 on the §n side and by means of a line via the valve 10 to the compressed air tank 13.
The casting process in this flow diagram example is carried out in the following way: When the melt is ready for casting, a difference is formed between the pressures in the melt reservoir 1 and the casting press mold 3 (31,32) and the melt begins to fill the casting cavity 4 via the metal feed line, while in the melt reservoir 1 , the mold 3 system, would have been under pressure, ambient pressure or increased pressure. During the filling process, the delivery pressure rises as a result of the overcoming of frictional forces, the hydraulic height of the melt and the throttling effect of the gaseous phase as it exits the vents, which are gradually and unevenly filled with melt.
When a predetermined level of the melt is reached, as shown by the line A-A and the point "a" on the indicator diagram (Fig. 2), the delivery pressure P^ will change its character, e.g. as a result of an abrupt change in the cross-section of the mold. By means of a signal given by the pressure indicator 8 to the delivery pressure, the converter 9 is activated and the valve 10 is opened, so that the gas phase from the high-pressure source 13 is supplied to the unfilled additional cavities 5 in the molding press 3 and to the multiplying cylinder 11, and the high pressure P3 is provided in the die 3. During movement of the piston in the multiplying cylinder 11, the molten metal flowing from the melt supply 1 will be interrupted, and the die 3 will finally be filled with melt. After the pressure has been reduced and cooling completed, the finished casting can be removed and the cycle repeated.
The machine for carrying out the method as shown in fig. 3, consists of a material cylinder 1 which is connected by a riser channel to the molding press mold 3, which comprises a right part 31 and a left part 32, which delimits the molding cavity 4 and the additional cavity 5 (deadhead). The material cylinder 1 is connected to a pressure source 6 which has a pressure over a valve 7, a line and a power cylinder 18 with a pressure indicator 8 placed on it. The power cylinder 18 is connected to the multiplying cylinder 11, part of which is in connection via a pipe with the press mold cavity 4 and via a valve 14 with the compressed air tank 13, which is under a high pressure P3. The pressure indicator 8 is connected to a transducer 9, which in turn is connected via a valve 10 to the additional cavity 5 and the multiplying cylinder 11. The communication between the transducer and the additional cavity 5 is provided by a control port 12.
According to the diagram in fig. 3, the casting process proceeds as follows: Characteristics of the cast part: An automobile piston in an aluminum-silicon alloy has a skirt with a 6 mm thick wall. A reinforcement ring in the lower part of the skirt, flanges in the zones of the piston bolt seats with a thickness of 20 mm and a bottom wall thickness of 25 mm.
Casting is carried out in a two-cavity metal casting press mold 3 with a split source core for the central hole and cores for the radial holes. Air valve ring openings, riser channels and dead heads 5 are designed in the press mold 3.
IO5 N/m2 , as <=> 27 . 30 . IO<5> N/m2 S > 3*. HB = 120-140. Et trykkdifferensial dannes, og smeiten fyller støpepressformen The gas that passes from the compressed air tank 13 via an open valve 14 to the multiplying cylinder 11 forms a gas pressure of 60 MPa. Then the valve 14 is closed and part of the melt is poured into the material cylinder 1. In the power cylinder 18 and the multiplying cylinder 11, a hydraulic pressure is provided from the tank 6 when valve 7 is opened. The piston of the power cylinder 18 moves the melt which fills the cavity of the press mold 3. filling the additional cavities 5 in the press mold 3, the delivery pressure P<iei (fig. 4) which is read by the pressure indicator is changed, and after filling part of the dead heads 5 it changes its character (point "a", fig. 4), and at a signal of the pressure indicator 8, the converter 9 is operated and opens the valve 19, which starts the piston of the multiplying cylinder 11, and a pressure of 300 MPa is exerted on the dead heads. Such a pressure is maintained until the crystallization process in the casting is complete and is then removed and the part is taken out of the press mold. The casting that is obtained after suitable heat treatment has the following characteristic properties: ag = 32-36 . IO5 N/m2 , as <=> 27 . 30 . IO<5> N/m2 S > 3*. HB = 120-140. The machine for carrying out the method according to fig. 5 consists of a supply 1 for molten metal (melt), which is in connection with a material feed line 2 and further to the molding press mold 3, which comprises two parts, namely the lower part 31 and the upper part 32, with the cavity 4 in between. In the upper part 32, additional cavities 5 (dead heads) are arranged. The melt supply 1 is connected to the gas pressure vessel 6 by a pressure P^ above a valve 7. The melt supply 1 and the space in the molding press mold 3 are connected by a pressure indicator 8 which is equipped with a converter 9. The converter 9 is connected via a valve 10 to the high-pressure tank 13 at a pressure P3, the latter tank being connected via the valve 10 to the multiplying cylinder 11, which is connected to the lower part 31 of the press mold. The space for the multiplying cylinder 11 in front of the piston is connected to the additional cavities 5 in the molding die 3 over a control port 12. The chambers in the molding die 3 are connected to the vacuum tank 17 by means of a pipe and a valve 16. According to the diagram which is shown in fig. 6, the casting process is carried out in the following way: Characteristic features of the part being cast: A car suspension component in aluminum alloy with a complex combination of thin and thick walls in the thickness range from 4-25 mm. The flanges are concentrated in three places 1 a distance from the central hole between 300 and 400 mm. A complex ribbed design with a rib relief of up to 90 mm. The die-casting is carried out in a two-part metal die placed in a sealed chamber. ;The split line for parts 31,32 has a complex shape. The air vents are designed in the die, while the deadheads are over the flanges of the casting. The cavities of the casting part in the space between the ribs are designed with inserts, and between these there are also ventilation openings. Before the start of the casting in the chamber including the casting press mold 3, a vacuum of 0.1 - 0.2 MPa is formed from the source 17 when valve 16 is opened. A difference between the pressures in the melt reservoir 1 and the mold 3 is produced and results in a first filling of the cavity 4 for the casting part. When the forge blocks the ventilation openings of the split planes, the delivery pressure will change its character, and with the help of a signal from the indicator 8, the converter 9 will open the valve 10. A high pressure equalized by the piston in the multiplying cylinder 11 is provided in the cavity 5 of the die 3 Such pressure is maintained until the completion of the crystallization process in the casting and is then removed and the casting is removed from the die. The negative pressure is only maintained until the casting press mold 3 is completely filled with the melt. The machine for carrying out the method according to fig. 7 consists of a supply 1 for molten metal (melt), which is connected via a material feed line 2 to the molding press mold 3, which comprises a left part 31 and a right part 32, while the mold hole space 4 is shaped in between. The extra cavities (deadhead) 5 are formed in the left part 31. The melt supply 1 is connected to the pressure source 6 with a pressure P1 by means of a valve 7. The pressure source 6 is also connected to the casting press mold 3 via a valve 15. To the melt supply it is adapted to a pressure indicator 8, which is equipped with a converter 9 which is connected via a valve 10 to the high-pressure tank 13 with a pressure P. The high-pressure tank 13 is connected to a multi-position cylinder 11 which is connected to the right part 32. The distance in front of the piston of the multiplying cylinder 11 is connected via a pipeline and a control port 12 with the additional cavities 5. According to the diagram shown in fig. 8, the casting is carried out in the following way: Characteristic properties of the cast part: A rib component designed for operation under the influence of water vapor at 150" and a pressure of 10 MPa with the requirements a% = 30 - 32 . IO<5> N/m<2> and Ss > 2056. ;The casting is carried out in a two-cavity metal mold with an elastic seal. Between the sealing ring and the working cavity of the press mold there is a deep and wide channel which is connected to the working cavity of the press mold by means of ventilation openings. The ventilation openings and the space for the deadhead are designed in the casting press mold. ;The smelting to a technically pure grade of Zn and fed to the melt supply 1 where the smelting is stirred with the help of nitrogen under a pressure of 10 . of 10.105 N/m2 A pressure differential is formed, and the melt fills the mold
3 opp til linjen A-A (punkt "a" på fig. Krystallisasjonen av smeiten fullføres, trykket avlastes fra støpepressformen 5, og sistnevnte kjøles og støpestykket tas ut. 3 up to the line A-A (point "a" in fig. 8), and the delivery pressure changes its magnitude. A signal from the indicator 8 affects the converter 9, which opens the valve 10, and a pressure 96. IO<5> N/m<2> is provided in the filled cavity 5 to the die 3. This pressure is equalized by the pressure in the multiplying cylinder 11. When the piston 1 moves the multiplying cylinder 11, the incoming flow of melt from the melt supply 1 will be shut off, and a final filling of the molding press mold 3 is provided by a high pressure. The crystallization of the melt is completed, the pressure is relieved from the casting press mold 5, and the latter is cooled and the casting is removed.
