Description
The invention relates to a microwave duplex radio system for transmitting analogue and digital data between transmitting-receiving stations which move along predetermined routes, and transmitting-receiving stations (intermediate stations) which are arranged at predetermined distances along these routes and are active in both directions of the route, where in the individual stations have a transmitting and receiving branch with a common microwave oscillator and a microwave mixer, where the individual branches are connected via a circulator, and where the stations on a section are connected to a central transmitting-receiving station.
Radio systems of this kind are particularly important in rail traffic. The economic utilization of the existing track network and the high traffic density with high speeds aimed for in that connection require an increasingly extensive exchange of data and signals between the trains and the stationary devices on the lines.
From the journal "Elektrische Bahnen" 44 (1973), issue 4, . pages 83 to 92, it is known to carry out the exchange of information using a so-called line management system. In the case of a line conductor system, inductive wire loops are placed in the area of the tracks which act as transmitting-receiving antennas for the stationary stations. The transmission of information between the mobile transmitter-receiver stations on the vehicles and these stationary stations takes place by frequency switching in the frequency range of around 50 kHz and with a maximum transmission rate limited to approx. 1200 baud. Apart from this limitation of the information flow, the line conductor system has the major disadvantage that the wire loops, especially when working on the track bodies, are highly exposed to the risk of mechanical damage.
With such a radio system, the risk of mechanical damage can be prevented by renouncing transmission by means of inductive loops and allowing the communicating stations to exchange their information over radio. Such systems are e.g. known from the journal ETR (Eisenbahntechnische Rundschau), issue 10, October-February 1971, pages 402 to 411.
In an older patent application, the applicants have proposed a radio system that is improved in comparison to these known systems, and where the line sections between successive stations that constitute main stations are divided by means of intermediate stations, the main stations are combined with the respective nearest intermediate stations into transmission sections, and the intermediate stations together with the associated main stations, as well as the main stations constitute the resistances for the signal exchange with the mobile stations.
From the publication "Technische Mitteilungen" of AEG-Telefunken, 67 (1977) 2, pages 111 to 112, there is known a measuring system for distance measurement with radio devices that work with frequency-modulated millimeter waves. With this device (which is of a different kind than that which the present invention deals with, for the radar technical determination of distances a measurement of frequency change is made as a function of travel time. The received signal is made up of the own transmitted and reflected transmission signal .
The publication "Zugfunk" from AEG-Telefunken NI/WB 274 gives an overview of how today's train radio system has come about. From the publication, it is only known to arrange two antennas 180° offset from each other with regard to beam direction.
Til frekvensstabiliteten av mikrobølge-oscillatoren blir Until the frequency stability of the microwave oscillator becomes
der stillet strenge krav som skyldes nødvendigheten av økonomisk utnyttelse av frekvensbåndene og de krav som på mottagningssiden stilles til mellomfrekvens-filterkomponentene med hensyn til mellomfrekvens-båndbredder. there were strict requirements due to the necessity of economic utilization of the frequency bands and the requirements placed on the receiving side for the intermediate frequency filter components with regard to intermediate frequency bandwidths.
Til grunn for oppfinnelsen ligger den oppgave for et mikro-bølge-dupleksradiosystem av den innledningsvis angitte art å gi The basis of the invention is the task for a microwave duplex radio system of the type indicated at the outset to provide
Stabiliseringen av mikrobølge-oscillatoren i sende-mottagningsinnretningens sendegren skal i den forbindelse kunne gjennomføres på enkel måte. instructions for a solution for a technically simple and cost-effective construction of the sending-receiving device on stationary and mobile stations. In this connection, the stabilization of the microwave oscillator in the transmitting branch of the transmitting-receiving device must be able to be carried out in a simple way.
Denne oppgave blir ifølge oppfinnelsen løst på den måte at According to the invention, this task is solved in such a way that
den for sende- og mottagningsgren felles mikrobølgeoscillator med en stabiliseringskobling er innkoblet i sendegrenen med en modulasjonsinngang, at sirkulatorens tredje arm;som ligger mellom de med sendegrenen og mottagningsgrenen forbundne armer, via en 3-dB-kobler er forbundet med to antenner som er forskutt 180° med hensyn til stråleretning, og at et med sirkulatorens avkoblings- the common microwave oscillator for the transmit and receive branches with a stabilizing coupling is connected in the transmit branch with a modulation input, that the third arm of the circulator; which is located between the arms connected to the transmit branch and the receive branch, via a 3-dB coupler is connected to two antennas which are offset 180° with respect to beam direction, and that one with the circulator's disconnection
dempning minsket signal fra mikrobølgeoscillatoren via sirkulatorens avkoblede gren tilføres den i mottagningsgrenen anordnede mikrobølgeblander og omsettes med mottatningssignalet til mellomfrekvensen, som tilføres en etterfølgende forsterker og demodulator hvis utgangssignaler ledes til hovedstasjonen over en signalkabel. attenuation reduced signal from the microwave oscillator via the disconnected branch of the circulator is supplied to the microwave mixer arranged in the receiving branch and converted with the reception signal to the intermediate frequency, which is supplied to a subsequent amplifier and demodulator whose output signals are led to the main station via a signal cable.
A favorable design of the object of the invention consists in the fact that the digital modulation transmitted in a cable controls a frequency-stable and, with regard to frequency, switchable reference source for the microwave oscillator in such a way that in the transmission situation it changes in time with the modulation signal between two discrete highly stable frequency states and in the receiving situation assumes a third discrete frequency state. In half-duplex operation, the sending and receiving situation alternates in a defined order.
In full-duplex operation, i.e. with simultaneous transmission and reception, unfavorable combination frequencies caused by the transmitter modulation are eliminated in the intermediate frequency interpretation in the reception branch, e.g. by means of electronic switches which are controlled by the binary modulation signals from the transmitter, and in front of which a filter coupling is inserted, or by means of an auxiliary oscillator and an additional mixer in the receiving branch.
The stabilization of the microwave oscillator takes place in a favorable way by the fact that the FM, resp. FSK-modulated signal in a first phase comparator circuit is compared with the signal from a free-oscillating pretunable oscillator with a higher frequency divided by a corresponding factor, and the free-oscillating oscillator is post-regulated via the generated control voltage, that the stabilized signal from the free-oscillating oscillator is multiplied with respect to frequency and fed to a harmonic mixer which also receives part of the power from the microwave oscillator to be stabilised, that the intermediate frequency that occurs in the mixer is, in another phase comparator connection, compared with the free-oscillating stabilized oscillator's frequency, and that the microwave oscillator is subsequently regulated via the output voltage from the second phase comparator connection.
FM, resp. In this connection, the FSK modulation of the reference signal produced by an oscillator can advantageously take place in the respective intermediate station, or the quartz-stabilized reference signal for the intermediate stations in a modulation section can be produced in the main station and with FM, resp. The FSK modulation is transmitted to the intermediate stations.
Fig. 2 og 3 viser stabiliseringskoblinger for sende-mottagningsinnretningens mikrobølgeoscillator, og In the following, the invention will be elucidated in more detail by means of examples of execution which are illustrated in the drawing. Fig. 1 is a block core for the sending-receiving device at a relay station, resp. movable station. Figs. 2 and 3 show stabilizing connections for the transmitter-receiver's microwave oscillator, and
fig. 4 and 5 respectively show a connection for distribution of modulation frequencies to relay stations and a quartz generator in the main station for the case of three different frequencies.
In fig. 1 is the sending-receiving device at a relay station, resp. moving station, visualized by a block diagram. The transmitting-receiving device has a modulation input I which is connected to the transmitting branch, and a modulation output II which is connected to the receiving branch. Via signal cables (modulation cables) 1, 2, modulation is supplied to the relay station, resp. the mobile station, and output of the received modulated signal. The transmitter branch contains a microwave oscillator 3 and a stabilization link which serves to stabilize this and will be described in more detail later. The reception branch contains a microwave mixer 5 (reception mixer) and an amplifier and modulator 6 where the intermediate frequency that occurs in the microwave mixer 5 is processed further. The transmitting branch and the receiving branch are connected via a circulator 7, namely in such a way that the transmitting branch is connected to an arm of the circulator 7 and the receiving branch to the arm in the next place counted in the grinding direction. The intermediate arm of the circulator 7 is connected to a 3-dB divider 8 in hole-wire technology, and to this are connected two horn beam antennas 9, 10 which are mutually offset by 180° with regard to beam direction.
The signal produced in the microwave oscillator 3 comes via the coupling path in the circulator 7 and via the 3-dB divider 8 with equal proportions to the two horn antennas 9, 10 and is radiated in two 180° offset directions. The microwave signals which in the case of reception are taken in by the horn beam antennas 9, 10 are in turn brought together in the 3-dB divider and arrive via the second connection path
i sirkulatoren 7 til mikrobølgeblanderen 5. in the circulator 7 of the microwave mixer 5.
Via the disconnected branch of the circulator 7 (indicated by a dashed arrow in the figure), a signal reduced by the circulator's decoupling attenuation comes from the microwave oscillator 3 in the transmitting branch to the microwave mixer 5 in the receiving branch and here converts the received microwave signal into an intermediate frequency signal with a lower frequency as a local oscillator signal. After corresponding processing in an FSK demodulator (FSK = Frequency Shift Keying), this signal is converted into digital signals which are routed to the main station via the modulation ion cable.
The unfavorable combination frequencies that occur in full multiplex operation in the receiving branch due to the transmitter modulation are eliminated by suitable precautions in the intermediate frequency compensation, e.g. by means of electronic switches which are controlled by the transmitter's binary modulation signals and are connected after a filter link, or by means of an auxiliary oscillator and additional mixer in the receiving branch.
In half-duplex operation, when a single oscillator is used for the transmission and reception situation, an unfavorable radiation of transmission power occurs in the case of reception with the local oscillator frequency. By introducing a third frequency state (e.g. in the middle of the frequency swing) which the non-transmitting stations occupy, it is achieved that the unfavorable intermediate frequencies that occur are faded out by corresponding filtering in the intermediate frequency range.
In the case of the stabilization coupling in fig. 2, where numerical values have been introduced for the sake of clarity for the frequencies of the oscillators and for the frequency dividers, resp. multipliers, the modulation input is denoted by I. The signal produced by the oscillator 11 (e.g. f = 10 MHz) becomes, by pre-tuning the resonance of a quartz crystal 13 in the transverse branch FM-, resp. FSK-modulated (FM = frequency modulation, FSK = frequency keying) using a parallel-connected varactor diode 12. The modulated signal is supplied to a phase comparator connection 14 and is compared in this with the frequency-divided signal by a factor of 50 from a free-swinging pre-tunable 500 MHz oscillator (VCO) 16, and this will be subsequently regulated. The regulation voltage is amplified in a DC voltage amplifier 17 arranged in the regulation loop.
The quartz-stabilized 500 MHz oscillator signal is frequency-multiplied by the factor 7 in a multiplier 18 and supplied to a harmonic mixer 19. This harmonic mixer 19 is also supplied with a local oscillator signal in the form of a part of that signal switched off by means of a directional coupler 21 with frequency
Utgangssignalet fra denne annen sammenlignerkobling 23 forsterkes i en likespenningsforsterker 24 f = 35 GHz emitted by the microwave oscillator to be stabilized. The intermediate frequency of approximately 500 MHz that occurs in the harmonic mixer 19 is amplified in an intermediate frequency amplifier 22 and again phase-locked compared to the signal from the first control loop's 500 MHz oscillator 16 in another phase comparator circuit 23. The output signal from this second comparator circuit 23 is amplified in a DC amplifier 24
og etterregulerer så mikrobølge-oscillatoren 20 som skal stabiliseres. and then post-regulates the microwave oscillator 20 to be stabilized.
Fig. 3 shows part of a stabilization link in a further embodiment, where the reference signal with FM, resp. FSK modulation in contrast to the embodiment in fig. 2 already via signal cable 29 (modulation cable) is transferred to the relay station. The quartz stabilized reference signal is then produced in the main station for all the relay stations in a modulation section. The phase comparison takes place here between the signal transmitted over the signal cable from the 100 kHz quartz generator and the frequency-divided signal from the freely oscillating pre-tunable 500 MHz oscillator 27 in a comparator circuit 25 in the division link 26 by a factor of 5000. With the output signal from the comparator circuit 25, the 500 MHz oscillator becomes 27 post-regulated via the DC voltage amplifier 28.
The further construction of the stabilization link from and including the branch at the output of the 500 MHz oscillator (point A) then corresponds to the part of the link in fig. 2 which is framed by dotted lines and denoted by B. With regard to the structure and operation of the coupling, reference must therefore be made to the relevant parts of fig. 2 with associated description.
4. Modulasjonsfrekvensene for tre reléstasjoner RS1, RS2, RS3 overføres over en signalkabel 30 (modulasjonskabel). 2. For oversiktens skyld er der i hver reléstasjon RS1, RS2, RS3 bare vist én reguleringssløyfe med den første fasesammenlignerkobling 37, 38, 39 tillike med 500 MHz-oscillatoren 43, 44, Should there be a frequency step-off (so-called stagger) of several relay stations, a corresponding number of modulation frequencies are transmitted and filtered out by the respective relay station with the help of corresponding filters. A connection determined for this case is shown in fig. 4. The modulation frequencies for three relay stations RS1, RS2, RS3 are transmitted over a signal cable 30 (modulation cable). Each relay station RS1, RS2, RS3 contains in its input branch a filter 31, 32, 33 which in the present case is tuned to the frequencies 50 kHz, 100 kHz and 200 kHz respectively. In a first division link 34, 35, 36 connected after the respective filters, the three different modulation frequencies are pre-divided to the 50 kHz level, where the frequencies differ by the frequency shift of the microwaves divided by the stabilization link's multiplication factor. The structure of the stabilization links for the microwave oscillator in the transmitter-receiver device at the individual relay stations corresponds to that shown in fig. 2. For the sake of clarity, in each relay station RS1, RS2, RS3 only one control loop is shown with the first phase comparator link 37, 38, 39 together with the 500 MHz oscillator 43, 44,
45 og frekvensdeleren 40, 41, 42. 45 and the frequency divider 40, 41, 42.
Fig. 5 viser kvarts-generatoren i hovedstasjonen ved tre forskjellige frekvenser. De tre utgangssignaler med 50 kHz, 100 kHz, Fig. 5 shows the quartz generator in the main station at three different frequencies. Each branch contains a 10 MHz oscillator 46, 47, 48 with a quartz crystal 49, 50, 51 and a varactor diode 52, 53, 54 in the cross branch as well as a first division link 55, 56, 57 which is connected after the 10 MHz oscillators, and in which the FM, resp. FSK-modulated signal is pre-divided in the ratio 1 : 200, 1 : 100, 1 : 50. The three output signals with 50 kHz, 100 kHz,
200 kHz is supplied via a common modulation cable 30 to the individual relay stations and further processed in these as shown in fig. 4 and described above. The relay stations that work with mutually different frequencies can of course also be modulated differently.
