Description
This invention relates to a convector for cold air shielding of a window surface, where in a trough-shaped channel, essentially in the middle of this, an air guide element and an electric heating element arranged on one side of the air guide element and independently of this, both under the release of a free space above the bottom of the gutter.
Convectors of this type are used e.g. as an additional element for shielding, especially from the cold air that occurs at large window surfaces. The convectors are usually placed in the floor immediately below the window and capture the cold air that descends along the window surface, heat it up and consequently provide a warm air blanket or veil that shields the window surface from the room. The problem with these types of convectors therefore consists in ensuring at all times a sufficiently large flow of hot air in order to prevent cold air from entering the room from the window surface or from other large, unheated external walls.
A convector is already known, in which the heating element consists of a hot water heating element which is attached over its entire length on the one side to the wall of the channel and on the other side connected to the air guide element. The disadvantage of such a convector is primarily its large height, which is necessary to provide a sufficient flow of warm air and a direct connection from the heater and the air guide element, so that the latter element is constantly kept directly heated and thus also on the side facing away the heater, will provide a hot air flow that counteracts the cold air flow. This causes a reduction in the convenor's efficiency. Furthermore, a direct attachment of the heater over the entire length will constantly cause noise to occur as a result of different thermal expansion.
1 j 1 j
Hensikten med oppfinnelsen er å skaffe en konvektor' som både med hensyn til virkningsgrad og med hensyn til,plassbe-hov er enklere og bedre enn de tidligere kjente konvektorer, og denne oppgave løses ved at varmelegemet er bøyet til U-form og bare med.benenes ender festet til ;rennens ene endevegg, j The purpose of the invention is to provide a convector which, both in terms of efficiency and in terms of space requirements, is simpler and better than the previously known convectors, and this task is solved by the heating element being bent into a U-shape and only with. the ends of the legs attached to one end wall of the gutter, j
Such a convector will, compared to convectors with hot water heating, have a significantly improved degree of efficiency and at the same time its built-in height can be greatly reduced, as the required hot air flow is also achieved without the shaft effect that was previously relied on. This effect is achieved on the one hand by means of the electric heating element and on the other hand by the air guide step which is arranged separately from the heating element and which causes a real division of cold-air and hot-air flow. By separating the air guide step from the heating element, it is further achieved that the guide step is not heated directly, so that the entire hot air flow will only proceed on the side of the heating element and the cold air flow is not hindered by a counter current. In addition to this, a simple; construction of the entire convector, as the air guide stage is easily removable as a single part for dust removal. In this way, the heater itself is also more easily accessible. 'The very simple construction of the convector is achieved' by the one-sided attachment of the heating body only to one end wall, so that the heating body can expand unimpeded during heating and does not cause any noise due to different expansions of the heating body and the attachment points.
Exemplary embodiments of the object of the invention are illustrated in the drawings, if fig. 1 shows a convector mounted on a window sill in an older house, fig. 2 shows a convector built into a window sill, fig. 3 shows a convector which is integrated continuously in a floor and fig. 4 shows the convector according to the invention with all parts pulled apart.
1 er rennen 1 A trough-shaped chute is denoted by 1 and occupies the individual elements of the convector. In this chute, an air guide step 2 is placed essentially in the middle and on the other side facing away from the window surface 3, the chute 1 contains a heater 4 which is made up of an electric heating element. In fig. 1 is chute 1
anbragt på en vindusbrystning 5 like inntil vindusflaten 3. placed on a window sill 5 close to the window surface 3.
In the case of new houses or when remodeling older houses, the convector according to the invention can also be built into a window sill 5 or in a floor 6 below the window surface 3, so that the upper edge of the gutter 1 will essentially be at the same height as the floor. Also in this case, the guide step 2 is arranged substantially in the middle of the chute. The heater 4 can e.g. be U-shaped and located on the side of the gutter facing away from the window surface. In fig. 2, arrows indicate how the cold air from the window surface sinks down and arrives on the side facing the window surface, after which it moves further down the chute and under the guide step 2 and from there rises and is heated by the heater 4 to finally rise up from the chute in the form of a stream of hot air. In order for this air flow not to be exposed to obstacles, the air guide step 2 and the heater 4 are arranged in the chute 1 in such a way that there is a free space between these elements and the chute bottom.
Next to the shape of the gutter with a rounded bottom shown in fig. 1 and 2, it is also possible to use a chute with a rectangular cross-section, as shown in fig. 3. Here, for better deflection of the air flow, a guide point 7 can also be arranged which is bent according to a quarter circle and serves to better guide the cold air in the area of the heater 4. This guide plate 7 can optionally also be provided with a heat-insulating layer, as indicated. If the convector according to the invention is completely submerged in a floor below a window surface 3, it is appropriate to provide the channel 1 with a grate 8 which e.g. can be designed as a collapsible grate. In the area of the heating element 4, there is also a through pipe 9 which takes up the electric wires for the heating element 4 and is led through the entire gutter and connected to corresponding pipes in adjacent convectors, if such are arranged one behind the other under the window. The heater 4 can be attached to this or these continuous pipes by means of compliant connection elements.
The construction of the convector and its individual parts are shown in fig. 4. The gutter 1 can be designed as a box with a rectangular cross-section and is provided in its upper area with an angled iron frame 10 which accommodates the roll-up grate 8, The pipe 9 is attached to the two end walls 11 of the gutter 1 and provided with connection lines 12 for connection with heating elements in adjacent convectors. The heater 4 itself is attached to the end wall 11 of the channel by means of a plug socket 13 and can therefore expand unhindered by the other elements. The possibility of attaching the heater to the pipe 9 by means of a loose thread 14 is not absolutely necessary, but can be used if a consumer finds it desirable.
When assembling the convector, proceed in such a way that the duct 7 is first laid down in the channel 1, after which the continuous pipe 9 and the heating element 4 are attached to the end wall 11, after which finally the air guide step 2 is hung into the channel 1 separately from the heating element 4. Finally the roll-up grate 8 is then placed on the angle iron frame 10. The convector can now be switched on.
In order to avoid overheating, it is also possible to place thermal fuses 15 in the heater or in continuous pipes.
The air guide step 2 is shown as double-walled in order to prevent the side facing the cold air from being significantly heated by the heating element 4. It has proven particularly appropriate to make the air guide step 2 from a tin strip bent into a U-shape that runs over the entire 1 length of the gutter and e.g. is suspended on protrusions that protrude from the end walls 11. The air that is between the side flanges of the U-shaped air guide step will then simultaneously serve as heat insulation. At the same time, an appropriate and simple assembly and disassembly of the air guide step for dust removal is achieved.
