Abstract
Description
Exercising too great a squeeze with the muscles in one of the limbs can lead to serious injuries. For example, the defect of the "tennis arm" is known, which, as research has shown, is caused by too much squeezing force being exerted on the tennis racket. Such a "tennis arm" may also result from domestic activity, such as wringing, or from professional activity, such as painting. In all these cases, the squeezing force applied is too high and unnecessary. There is therefore a need for a device that allows therapeutic training such that it is learned not to exceed a certain squeeze force.
For therapeutic purposes, a device for determining and exceeding a preset value of a squeezing force may also be desirable. For training of the sphincter in case of incontinence, for example, if a device is available for determining and signaling the squeezing force, it can be indicated when the exerted force is sufficient.
The object of the invention is to provide a device which achieves the above-described objectives.
This is achieved according to the invention by a device for determining and exceeding a set value signaling the squeezing force of the muscles of a limb of the human body, for example the hand, the sphincter and the like, formed by pressing a certain pressure appealing member and a receptacle adapted to the shape of the limb and means for generating a signaling signal when a set pinching force is exceeded.
The squeezing force exerted can be measured by placing a pressure-sensitive element provided with a signaling device in a holder which, for example, can be placed around the handle of a tennis racket by its shape. For example, in case of training of the sphincter, a tampon-like cylindrical element may be used in the core of which the pressure-sensitive element is placed or a cylindrical element in the wall of which the pressure-sensitive element is placed around a tampon-like element as a core.
It is also possible to choose a flat version, which can be placed in a shoe for walking correction.
The implementation is clarified on the basis of a number of exemplary embodiments.
Fig. 1 toont een toepassing bij een tennisracket. Fig. 1 shows an application with a tennis racket. A holder 2 with a pressure element according to the invention is placed around the handle 1 of the racket. The holder 2 can be completely cylindrical and slid onto the handle 1 or it can be partly cylindrical and stabilized with respect to the handle.
Fig. 2 shows an embodiment for training the sphincter, for example. The pressure-sensitive element 4 which is connected to an external signaling element is placed in a cylindrical tampon-like member 3.
Fig. 3 shows an application in a shoe, for example for the purpose of gait correction in children.
It is noted that the pressure-sensitive element is coupled to, for example, a chip for processing the signals generated by the pressure sensor and converting them into an auditory or visual signal. The pressure sensor can consist of two flat, biased electrodes. The bias voltage is preferably adjustable to determine the limit value at which a signaling signal is generated.
