Abstract

A vacuum pack is produced by making a bag from >=1 sheet of synthetic material, which is filled, evacuated and sealed. At least two webs of weldable material are formed simultaneously into a wrapping which is filled and sealed; the film forming the outer surface is perforated. The bag is evacuated by lowering the air pressure in a chamber to which the open side of the bag is connected, and a gas which can be taken up by the filling is blown into the space in the bag, and the bag is then closed. At the slight extra cost of the film, the package is attractive in appearance, and does not need an additional box or other ornamental wrapping. The surface of the finished package is more regular so that printed characters can be read easily.
