Abstract

The grain threshing and separation mechanism comprises a drum with beater bars or pegs running in a housing at an adjustable distance from a concave in grating form, also with bars or pegs. Crops such as wheat, barley, rye, oats, rice, sorghum etc passing between drum and concave are threshed out, the grains passing through the concave, while the remainer is transported by a strong draught of air to a separation chamber for further grain separation. The drum (3) also acts as an air fan, pref. a Sirocco-type blower, with air intakes on opposite sides, and it and the concave (5) together with the separation area are accommodated in an airtight housing, so that threshing and separation takes place in this closed chamber. There is an inlet (1) before the drum, and an outlet at the end of the separation area (14) for straw, chaff, dust and other lightweight particles. The threshed grain is collected in an airtight vessel (23).
