Abstract

The vehicle wheel (2) is braked by three L-shaped members, two of which are below the wheel centre and inclined at similar angles to a vertical line drawn through the centre of the wheel. These two L-shaped members (3) have flat strip portions (5) extending across the full width of the wheel and have inwardly turned tips (6) extending around the side of the wheel remote from the clamp pins (4) which retain the upper ends of the L-shaped clamps. The L-shaped members are attached to a flat disc (1) at the side of the wheel to which is fixed a pinion block (11) through which may be actuated a rack on a third L-shaped member (14) which extends over the top of the wheel. Winding-down of the third L-shaped member enables the wheel to be clamped.
