Abstract

The immersion pump for chemical reduction baths, has driving motor mounted on support plate above liquid level. Through the plate a driving shaft, clad with chemically-resistant material, extends downwards to the pump housing also of such material, and has on the underside a main inlet for the fluid to be handled. The pump disc rotor (7) has radial blades (21, 22) on the top and bottom faces, and a clearance is left (20) where the shaft passes through the housing, so as to connect the pump chamber (17) above the rotor to the outside. A length of pipe (8a) fits round the drive shaft (6, 8) and is coupled to a support plate. This forms a separate chamber round the shaft, connected to atmos. only via a passage (8b) left between the pump housing top plate and the bottom end of the pipe. The main suction inlet (29) is connected to this chamber via a pipe (32) and an aperture through the pipe wall (36), near the bottom end of the latter.
