Abstract

The fountain pen comprises a holder to which a first free-ink reservoir is fixed, which inside is a second reservoir with an ink-securing device, connected to the first. A venting system is provided for both, together with a cap to protect the nib. A drive mechanism allows the ink cartridge (22) to be moved in relation to the holder (20) with the aid of the cap (24). Movement of the cartridge in relation to the holder can be so arranged as to cause an alteration in the volume of the cartridge. This injects ink into the other reservoir, or sucks ink and/or air out of it. The lower end of the cartridge can be sleeve-shaped, while the top of the holder is extended, with an ink injection passage. The lower end of the cartridge forms a sliding airtight joint over the extended portion.
